Seeing Twitter reports of looting, tear gas, dogs attacking kids. Smh

Yeah: http://www.kmov.com/special-coverage-001/Reports-Ferguson-protests-turn-violent-270697451.html

FERGUSON, Mo.(KMOV.com) -- Protests in Ferguson reportedly turned violent Sunday night.
Crowds reportedly stormed the QuickTrip on West Florissant, causing a lot of damage. A window was also smashed out of a News 4 live truck.
Two groups of protesters gathered around 8:00 Sunday night in Ferguson to bring awareness to the death of Michael Brown, 18, who was shot and killed by police Saturday.
Police equipped with riot gear are being dispatched to the scene.

Probably means St Louis County, which is basically suburbia to the max.

The reason I asked is because technically, St. Louis County includes "North County" as well, which includes all of those smaller northern municipalities like Wellston, Moline Acres, Normandy, Florissant, and interestingly enough... Ferguson. (Hell, Brakke was pretty much directly referencing the difference between University City and Wellston, which is not only one mile apart down Skinker, but there are so many obvious differences between the two).

What he probably meant was "St. Louis County" as in "Clayton" or something.

Edit: Oh shit, that's why there were so many cop cars swarming that QT this evening

Doesn't make it right. Or doesn't mean it goes unpunished. Looting and rioting sure proves their point doesn't it.
No it's not right, but property can be replaced, a life can not.

So the likely scenario where those participating in looting face harsher consequences than the ones who wrongfully took a life is slightly fucked in my eyes.

I live fairly close, on the Illinois side of the river. This is all so fucked. A lot of people I know are at the Miley concert tonight too, hopefully they can avoid it all.

Now ATM's are being broke into.

Police are going to come down hard on those looting, stealing, and vandalizing.

UGH! Those stupid idiots! A protest is fine but they are killing themselves by looting and committing crime. For fucks sake. STUPID. Crime to protest about a crime is like countering fire with fire, it doesn't work and gives the police more ammo. I'm so annoyed for those idiots that done this will make everyone else look bad and give the news plenty to talk about that will end up supporting the police.

It's unfortunately the effects of a very shitty situation that didn't have to happen.

I don't agree with the violence or looting AT ALL but I understand why it's come about. Violence only begets violence.

I hate to say it. When peaceful protest doesn't change anything this is the alternative unfortunately.

This tragedy has happened so many times you will have bad apples that will sour the whole thing, but again it's and effect of a shitty situation that could have been avoided.

How about when a shop owner defends his shop and shoots someone. Then it's gonna start all over. The cop will hopefully lose his job after an investigation. No need to go to the streets and destroy your town.

I just don't understand how these people think this is going to make them look like good people...or how they are using this poor kids name to riot.

What makes you assume the ones doing the looting care one fuck about looking like good people or standing up against injustice? It's free shopping on someone else's dime. That what it is. There is no statement here.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
what the fuck man. The boy had no weapon and didn't put up a fight and yet the officer used weapon for no fucking reason.

The Cops have been getting away with killing unarmed black men for a while now, since when have they needed excuses to do it? It's business as usual in the US.

As much as I hate your comment that makes me feel like that I want to punch you, I know that you are speaking nothing but the truth. It's sucks, dude, it really does.

I'm subject to the stop and frisk law in NYC and have fit the description many of times, just speaking from a point where I don't really trust cops.

Looks like this is turning into the Cincinnati riots that's happened in 2000 I believe? From what I rememeber that ended up actually changing their law enforcement for the good but I'm not from the area so not sure

Stop using the 17 years old's tragic death to do crimes, this is beyond stupidity. You are not helping.

The whole incident helped lead to more diversity in police hiring.

maybe tomorrow it rains
This protest could've been a good thing, but all the people being peaceful are going to be overshadowed by the ones that are robbing convenience stores and lighting them on fire.

That ain't going to help anyone. The 'hands up' thing earlier was the right way to protest this. Trashing property ain't going to get anyone on side.

That'll end well.

This is what happens when you give a group a legitimate reason to not respect the law, but random violence isn't going to accomplish anything.

Why....why is the always the freaking answer to deaths? It just kinda seems some of these people wait for an innocent person to be killed just so they can destroy crap and steal everything in site. Stop doing this crap it's an endless cycle, get the damn cop arrested and sent to jail and try to change to police force provoking them and doing all of this crap isn't helping.

The thing is black folks have no reason to believe the cop will be convicted, and unlikely he'd even be charged. Especially when you see stuff like Zimmerman, and the incidents you hear about almost on a daily basis these days.

Law enforcement has deservedly lost the respect of a good number of folks in America, and when the law isn't respected, bad things happen.
