Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

OMG the high velocity police tackle when it resumes playing at normal speed is brilliant. :lol :lol :lol

Standardisation sucks. Different tournaments should have different rules. Have some experimentation. It will certainly aid in seeing what works and what doesn't.
Uh what? There should still be a standard otherwise tourney attendance/timeliness (if setting up all the options would take time) would be an issue. There will always be side tournaments with different rules but you have to have an established baseline. I expect Smash 4 tourneys to use Brawl or Melee rulesets (3 or 4 stock with 8 min + some set of stages) and modify as needed overtime. Any permutations will be side tourneys unless there's a huge community movement to make that the standard. (like if Heavy mode fixes balance/gameplay/whatever issues for example)

I think I want to make an indie game now. Like Divekick, I'll keep the title simple: Elbow Drop. In it, you stand in the middle of a demolition derby as cars drive at you from every direction. "Elbow-drop the windshield," cries the announcer from Killer Instinct. And that's exactly what you'll do, elbow-dropping cars coming at you right and left, scoring points only when you smash the windshield, but pogoing off the roof of the car when you miss.

I assume the only playable character is Randy Savage.

Max must be leading people with his questioning if everyone he talks to says Smash 4 is too slow.

Just because the movement speed is faster (if that's what you were trying to say) doesn't mean the game isn't somewhat sluggish due to excessive lag on moves making you feel stuck a lot of the time.

I'd like to think that people would notice such a thing just by playing it and not need to be "lead on".

Slow or not, there's no way everyone he talks to is bringing that up on their own.

Would asking them how they felt about the speed of the game or if they thought there was any problems be "leading them on"?

I took it to mean that you were implying he was asking "Don't you think the game is too slow?".

Everyone needs to get crazy. That's my motto for Smash.

...It all makes sense now XD.
Tripping is Brawl's advanced moving.

We didn't even need wavedashing

K, I'm done derailing. I have a question. Anyone ever turn off all music and just smash with sound effects? Me and my cousins used to do that. We stopped though because we'd get pissed off at each other without the music, lol

Politicians often say that regular folks always tell them the same thing - whatever that politician's platform issue is. People often feel pressured to give the "right" answer to questions, and people can be manipulated into giving certain answers with the right question framing. Max may not be doing it intentionally, but I think the same phenomenon is at play here. He digs deeper until he gets the answer he wants. If they don't mention speed, he asks about speed. If they're happy with speed, he asks if it should be sped up.

I don't know, this just screams of not wanting to hear criticism about the game to me because there's nothing to say that he did this, is it really so hard to believe that people don't like that aspect of the new game?

Didn't he say he was mostly asking people who work on fighting games and stuff? Seems like that would be the thing they'd immediately notice.

The sluggishness of the game was one of the main complaints from people at E3 aswell I think, if I remember rightly there was some article about that being the main thing said to the Nintendo reps there.

Funny that the scans all leak while I'm asleep, lol. I only skimmed the booklet (it will never cease to amaze me how very little information these magazines can provide in spite of taking up so much space), but the one possibly new tidbit I detected was that Pac-Man's Power Pellet is one of his special moves. They also clarified that hats/outfits will not affect a Mii's stats, so you can mix and match as you please.

Donizetty just heard your plea, and granted you a wish.

This is brilliant. :lol

You picked all the best ones! You get a gold star! :D

I've tried it just to see what it's like, but it takes to much of the experience for me. I'm so particular about the music I choose, I actually get annoyed when I'm at a friends and their song choice is different than mine. Haha, I'm a total music snob. :P

OT, but in case some of you with a European Wii U are interested:

I'm giving away Wonderful 101 (Wii U / eShop / EU only) here

I get annoyed when I play someone's project m and it's a bunch of ugly music. I mean, I love all genre of music, but there are places when things are appropriate and places when they're not.

I don't want to hear gangsta's paradise on battlefield...
I want it on FD where it belongs.

This is my least favorite part of project m streams. I've even turned some off because it didn't like the custom music on the stage, and would have greatly preferred the original level's music.

Oh yeah, I've only played on my own Project M, but that would drive me crazy.

Yeah, custom music is a can of worms no matter how you put it. I still want it though. While I haven't done it with my current build, I usually have music on stages that I think everyone can enjoy. It's mostly from the franchise and the genre varies greatly so it's not just one type.

As someone who read a book about physics once, I can assure you that's 100% accurate.
See, the way elbow-dropping a windshield works is normally, gravity would punish you for such a stunt, but in -this- case, when gravity sees your elbow drop, it's all like, "Shit, I ain't messin' with that guy," and gravity backs the fuck off, which is why you emerge unscathed.

Now you see, this guy did it wrong, he landed with his wrist instead of his elbow

After every 10 cars you should be able to suplex a train

I assume the only playable character is Randy Savage.
All valid ideas.

What happens when 8 chainsaws collide with a car windshield?

Only one way to find out.
Only if it's wearing a helmet

It's the nature of public opinion. He's getting non-attitudes from them. Collection and analysis of public opinion was my main focus in college and his account triggers the alarm bells of proctor influence. Opinion is more varied than that. Hugs would focus on lack of movement options. You would probably complain that the game is too defensive. But game speed is not what everyone brings up without prep.

King Hyrule tonight

tumblr_mc3z9cgO1a1qj8nnl.gif

I legitimately wanted King Harkinian to be playable in Brawl. I knew it wouldn't happen, but he was the Lethal Joke Character on my unrealistic dream roster. Still would like to see him.

Also, does the Hyrule Warriors leak
kill Groose's chances?
. Because, again,
he's
not the choice the big fans'd go for, but the Zelda newcomer I'd legitimately want the most this time around.

Oh yeah, I've only played on my own Project M, but that would drive me crazy.

Brah, I played at a tournament last week and one set up had all happy jpop vocaloid music, and EVERY SINGLE FUCKING CHARACTER was replaced with a loli or generic anime model.

I love anime to death, but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I was so pissed I had to play my first round on that shit... Guess who's model was over Zelda... Friggin Lightning. I can't main lightning -_-

The game being sluggish is the most standout thing I can think of that a less informed person might bring up first though.

Air Dodge being spammable, shield dropping being too fast, little to no shield stun, lack of DI, lack of crouch cancelling, reduced dash dancing and lack of momentum conservation are just some of the problems people have with the game but they're not things that a casual player would notice immediately or even understand the implications of, but I think it's pretty safe to say that the endlag and possibly dash commitment making the game feel sluggish is definitely the most apparent and immediately noticeable out of all those things.

Maybe he did get more varied opinions but just decided to focus on this because it was the one that popped up the most?
