Be real. If a cop isn't doing it himself, he knows guys on the force who are, and he isn't doing shit about it because "protect the shield" bullshit.
And you know this how?

So it is okay to generalize hundreds of thousands of LEOs based upon the actions of a few. Okay.Nah, police departments nationwide have been proven to be corrupt nationwide, top to bottom, root and stem.
The "few bad apples" argument has to be retired, or we have to come up with a new definition for the word 'few':
...
Criticisms against the entire police force are not generalizations, they are backed by empirical data.

Wesley Lowery said:Tear gas, rubber bullets. Occasional gun shots in the distance in sub division in Ferguson. Helicopters circle overhead. "Go home"
Wesley Lowery said:Most of those outside near me are local residents physically blocked from going home. Lots of middle fingers, waves to cop helicopters
18-year-old male next to me struggling to breath after being hit with tear gas. Had run away, but want back toward chaos to find his sister.
"A week, a month, after you leave, Ferguson is still going to be fucked up," - 9-year-resident tells me over sound of helicopters
Everyone I've talked to locally describes this as a breaking point, years of tension finally boiling over
23-y/o next to me right now got w/ rubber bullets, tear gas. Friends have called an ambulance - "I don't need a hospital, this is my home"
Says he was walking home, trying to get to his house and cops sprayed him directly in face with gas.
Was this ever validated? I live in the STL area and I don't even remember this.

Kind of reminds me of what all the police departments in this country have been doing to blacks....
This is just an asinine statement. Yes, there are assholes that happen to be cops, and while there are assholes in every job, these particular assholes also carry guns and get on a power trip. Does that mean all cops are bad? No.
this sounds like stereotyping to me and i don't like it one bit. when much of the premise of the thread is that police disproportionately use force or detain blacks probably because of stereotyping, turning around and doing it right back defeats the entire purpose. please stop.

Police work as an institution is pretty fucked up.
So the title of this thread....
He was 18
Not St. Louis cop.
"Executed" is specutation at best and inflammatory language to say the least.
I personaly hold GAF to a higher standard.

Perspective. I do not think you know what that means.Cry some damn more.
Perspective. Try and get some.
How long have you been a poster here?
How so?
How so?
I will not speak for others in this profession, but I'll be damned before I destroy my career to cover another's lack of integrity. I know of many who share the same viewpoint as me.Until the rest of the good officers decide to hold the bad ones to a higher standard of behavior instead of covering for their bullshit, you're goddamn right.
Deal with it.

Thank you for your service. A lot of misplaced hate around here.
... it's called common sense. So why do you generalize the behavior of the majority of cops as "good" based only on the limited number of cops you know personally?
Police brutality is institutionalized. Many departments dont provide adequate training in nonviolent solutions, standards for what constitutes brutality vary widely, consequences for misconduct are minimal, and police are increasingly militarized are just a few reasons as to why this isn't just anecdotes. Not to mention minorities being unfairly targeted. Also in NYC, a lot of the infractions you get ticketed and arrested for only serve corporate interests. Shit like selling loose cigarettes are hardly fucking crimes, it just an order issue by the cigarette companies to keep money in their pockets They don't "protect and serve" you and I in other words.
Because the police are an occupying army meant to project force in poor communities and protect/serve the persons and property of the ownership class. Police are the physical manifestation of state power, and the protectors of systemic inequality. It is an inherently fucked up job.
... it's called common sense.
Can someone generalize/stereotype all African Americans based upon the actions of a few in St. Louis?
Le sigh.
Pull New York and LA out of the equation. Do you still think so?

that's not what people are saying. Saying the institution is corrupt has nothing to do with the moral compass of individual officers.
That used to be the case but lately misinformation is fine as long as it falls on the side most of the mods agree with.Long enough to know people get banned for misinformation and thread titles are regularly edited to state the truth.
Doesn't matter how many cops are good if the institution always gives the bad ones a slap on the wrist for their bullshit.
this is how the gov't responds when a cop murders an unarmed black child
And I think you are looking at a small sample and applying it to all police officers.
nope. people are justified in their distrust and hatred of the police force. Keep your head in the sand tho
Ha ha. No.
They are shooting tear gas in people's back yards. Pointing guns in backyards. AFTER they told them to go home.
But it's #notallcops time tho lol
No. I'm not. The Police Institution doesn't have shit to do with individual officers. Were talking about how these organizations are ran and what behavior it facilitates and effectively condones from cops as a result.
But the people didn't enter their homes, did they?
Are they at their homes or not?
