I'd also accept Bowser and DK, perhaps large Miis and Dedede too. Maybe Wolf. Someone would have to convince me on him.

Yeah....we've said that before with Nintendo though. I have been watching them many years. If they think Bayonetta or Hyrule Warriors is enough, they'll make the terrible decision to delay it.
I don't know how they could think those are enough, especially since Wii U is finally gaining some momentum. But Nintendo are idiots exactly when they shouldn't be.

Also, does Zelda have her own victory song? This is literally the only reference to Zelda winning a round I have ever seen, so I have no idea.
A variant of Zelda's Lullaby is the really obvious music choice.

Well, it's directly on the hands of Sakurai and the Bamco team whether delays will happen to Smash Wii U or not. The only thing Nintendo can do at this point is to support Sakurai as much as possible to prevent delays. Basically, they are at the mercy of the Troll King begging for its completion before the holidays.
On the topic of delays, suppose it is inevitable due to things that are needed to be patched up. What do you prefer?
- Release the game during the expected holiday season with some parts buggy and just patch them up slowly next year, or
- Proceed with the delay to polish the game further with the highest quality product in the market?
Not that there is really a correct choice between the two, but I think there is a tremendous amount of pressure for Nintendo to deliver this year at the height of buying spree.
Sakurai and Namco have to make the game, yeah... but Nintendo is the publisher, ie they're paying the bills. With the game already in a playable state, I don't think the company will accept a post holiday release here. They would pretty much force them to release whatever they have.
I'd prefer for the game to be finished before release though. If I switch Wii Us after the Nintendo Network is down (and Nintendo has gone 5th party), I don't want my game to suddenly be flawed in meaningful ways.
I'd take a holiday 2015 release if the game we get at launch is the best it can be (and also complete).PadWarrior

Not sure I like the S-Flag, not because it's OP, but because it's a 4th "Must Have" item to Scramble over (6th if you count the Golden Hammer/AT's due to their stall time); they really detract from the match itself, IMO.
Think we'll get anything for Gamescom? I'm still hoping for a post-Gamescom/Hyrule Warriors trailer starring The Dorf with Wario & Mewtwo in it (Maybe Black Shadow, too...). End with a stinger showcasing a few Smash Run/Stage bosses, show Other M Ridley on Pyrosphere last, but at the end, return to a cutscene where a Super Metroid/Zero Mission Ridley cry is heard in the distance, stopping Roidley in it's tracks, then cut to static. This might also be prime time to show the Duck Hunt Dog if he's in the game somehow.
Bonus points if it shows more of N's Castle
or highlights Robin, too

Well as publishers, all they can do really is provide support to the dev team (additional manpower, pay for 24/7 overtimes, send in additional funds, send in psychologists for stress management
, etc.). They still have the final say with regards to marketing the game, but the majority of the development control is still up to Sakurai and team. So I'm hoping that with the remaining 2-3 months they can iron out all the possible game-breaking bugs and finish the game to market it in time for the holidays.

Just announced, Rise of the Tomb Raider is an Xbox One exclusive.

According to cboat, timed exclusive -at least through the holidays. Though holiday timing can be crucial.
Yeah; the new one was PS4/XB1/PC until about 8 AM EST, when Microsoft announced as a permanent exclusive. The meltdowns were... Well, not unjustified in my opinion, but potent and explosive, to say the least.
Well, for this holiday at least.

Fo' sho' combatants, i.e. characters that are both studly and manly and will always be allowed:
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Little Mac
Ike
Captain Falcon
Wii Fit Trainer (Male)
Ganondorf
Snake
Potential combatants, characters who may end up on the playable roster based on counsel:
Robin (he looks kinda stacked in the trailer, but that could be art style. I'm not convinced either way)
Mii Fighters (depending on how many options there are, I'm pretty sure you could make a buff or manly looking Mii. Time will tell.)
Charizard (dragons are manly, if not studly. Will leave open to deliberation)
Great King Dedede (the way he wields that hammer is pretty manly, even if he's a blobby penguin thing. see above)
Mario & Luigi (the stache)
Link (a bit too bishounen for my tastes, but i'm willing to budge on it)
Wolf (i'm in no position to judge. i guess he looks kinda buff)
Wario (similar reasons as Mario, and he's kind of your stereotypical "guy." I dunno.)
Playable Stages:
All stages must be justifiably manly. Potential 3DS examples:
Arena Ferox: what's manlier than an arena where you fight to the death?
Game Boy: that thing was a tank.
Boxing Ring: what's manlier than an arena where you
Battlefield and Final Destination: fight without obstacles, like real men!
other options will be considered, with proper manly justification.
matches are fought without items, like real men!
*assuming all veterans return, however unlikely
