Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

seethe a bit, Ms Aran

Little Mac clapping with boxing gloves on cracks me up every time. The longer I watch him, the funnier it gets.

Since we can use coins to increase the difficulty of adventure mode, I wonder if there will be a coin donation mode like KI:U. Where the more you donate, the closer Sakurai's face is.

I guess I should be grateful that Tomb Raider's reboot didn't look like my kind of game at all, such that I can't bring myself to care about the sequel. I think I'll be good sticking with the early PS1 games (well, the PC versions thereof) and the first reboot and sequels (Legend through Underworld).

It still boggles my mind that they needed to reboot so soon after rebooting. It's patently ridiculous.

Still, I'm not mad that the Xbone has exclusives (although thanks to the marketers mangling what "exclusive" means over the past decade, nobody can be certain if it's timed exclusive or actually exclusive - good job, games industry). More power to 'em.

I've been playing Doctor Mario on my 3DS a lot recently because of Club Nintendo and it makes me really sort of miss Doc as a unique character. Not just as a costume, but an actual character.

He has to be ultra easy to add to the game, and with no changes from Melee, would provide unique gameplay just based on his n-special and d-specials being different from Mario's. There's interesting stuff with viruses they could do for a final Smash. This DSi game even has some animations for Doc that could work as taunts.

I think he'd be an absolute perfect costume for Mario though. But even as a character, I'd appreciate him.

There aren't any real puzzle game characters in Smash Bros, and Doc is probably one of the best reps for one, besides Lip or a Tetris Block, but neither of those seem likely.

that'll do.

Okay, hypothetical* Studly Smash Men ruleset:

Fo' sho' combatants, i.e. characters that are both studly and manly and will always be allowed:
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Little Mac
Ike
Captain Falcon
Wii Fit Trainer (Male)
Ganondorf
Snake

Potential combatants, characters who may end up on the playable roster based on counsel:
Robin (he looks kinda stacked in the trailer, but that could be art style. I'm not convinced either way)
Mii Fighters (depending on how many options there are, I'm pretty sure you could make a buff or manly looking Mii. Time will tell.)
Charizard (dragons are manly, if not studly. Will leave open to deliberation)
Great King Dedede (the way he wields that hammer is pretty manly, even if he's a blobby penguin thing. see above)
Mario & Luigi (the stache)
Link (a bit too bishounen for my tastes, but i'm willing to budge on it)
Wolf (i'm in no position to judge. i guess he looks kinda buff)
Wario (similar reasons as Mario, and he's kind of your stereotypical "guy." I dunno.)

Playable Stages:
All stages must be justifiably manly. Potential 3DS examples:
Arena Ferox: what's manlier than an arena where you fight to the death?
Game Boy: that thing was a tank.
Boxing Ring: what's manlier than an arena where you fight to the death punch each other a lot?
Battlefield and Final Destination: fight without obstacles, like real men!

other options will be considered, with proper manly justification.
matches are fought without items, like real men!

*assuming all veterans return, however unlikely

Anyone actually interested or am I just barking at the wind?

If we get the third male build for Robin, he should qualify.

Never understood why people get upset over game exclusives or games in general.

Well, the current generation's expectation is that one console should play all the games the other consoles have. It's sad considering the generations before that, companies sell consoles based on exclusive games they got, not on the hardware power and all that. That's why I do own multiple consoles way back (it helps that they are way cheaper before too).

Mallo from Pushmo I think would be a great rep, with a simple yet unique design. Not to mention he comes from a very recent franchise.

Doc is more iconic and a veteran. And also easier to make as a character.

Being from a recent franchise is meaningless and probably hurts him more than anything. Mallo will be lucky to even make an assist trophy.

If we have a male-only tourney do we get a female one too? Also there should be some females in the manly tourney if they are buff enough. I feel like female Wii Fit Trainer is more in shape than Wario and Link, so she should get the spot.

What about a non human tourney?

UNACCEPTABLE.

We'll settle for a "cute" tourney, for Toon Link and Ness to participate.

The Super Bash Sisters tourney was the inspiration for this :P

There already was one, that's what gave people the manly idea.

Lol well shoot.

Have any of you played super princess peach? I was thinking of getting it as a gift for my 5 year old who loves peach

There already is one - the Super Bash Sisters tournament is what started all this in the first place.

And WFT more in shape than Link? I dunno, all that adventuring must keep Link pretty fit.

Yep, I got it when it came out. It's a fun little game - not too deep, not a masterpiece, but I definitely enjoyed it. As I recall, it's not super-difficult, either, so I think it'd be good for younger players.

Like I said before I'm not getting the 3DS version but I'm not mad at it's existent

I think people are upset because while Tomb Raider was announced a while ago, it was only just now confirmed an Xbone exclusive. Since it wasn't initially confirmed exclusive, people assumed it was multi-platform. I can see being annoyed at that - feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under your feet - but some of the reactions in that thread are way over the top.

Haha, sounds fun, I'd be down.

I want to be involved in so many smash tournaments from gaf, but my time is very limited sometimes. It has to be between like 6-10pm EST on most nights, but not all, and then, weekends are totally random. I'll sign up for ones once I know how tournament stuff works in smash and what the times will be.

I'm just gauging interest, I'm not gonna do something silly like build a bracket and set a date before the game's even out. I think a bunch of themed tournaments could be a fun way to mix it up and keep some interest after release.
