The Order 1886 Gamescom Gameplay Trailer

Only problem here is that my trained eyes notice the singular pointy specular highlight from a point light even though the scene has multiple lights hanging from that lamp.

Yeah but it's cool the way the back of the room goes dark, and the lights appear to dim, as he fires a blast from his hand cannon.

I find it amusing that people's only complaint about the game is about some nebulous "gameplay" concept. They've already said its a cover based TPS. Till release, none of us is ever going to be in a position to judge how well it does that. I'll trust the people that have played it and said it controls and plays well. Its also story driven and cinematic. All those things helped TLOU sell 10 million copies. If you're one of those weirdos that thinks every game needs to be a arcadey storyless competitive multiplayer copy paste job I don't even know why you waste time in these threads. You guys need to start working on a time machine to take you back to the 90s.
Why is it amusing that the one key element of a game may be lacking in detail due to how its currently being marketed? Sure people shouldn't be overly worried as we have no clue what the game will play like, but at the very least the concerns are genuine.

For me, this trailer once again pushed the whole graphics graphics graphics stigma that 1886 has had since its reveal, but so far I'm not really interested in the setting, characters or gameplay. Just seems rather bland and they aren't really focusing on these random werewolf creatures that clearly kill people.

oh so you aren't allowed to post in a thread if you aren't saying something good about the game the thread is about?

Of course you are, but go read his last comments before the one I replied to and tell me if there's a reason left for him to remain in this thread.

Edit: Here are his comments in this thread since I'm sure you're not going to bother.

Ah yes, "gameplay".

Which is ultimately just a shallow veneer if all you are gonna do is make another Gears of War with it.

Good games aren't boring, and this sure looks like it is.

Can you even fight these things outside of a cutscene?

Looks like the same typical third person shooter that the last gen was already over saturated with.

I am also not interested in "filmic" experiences.

You tell me.

Did his arm just explode !?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Man I freaking love the attention to little details in this game. My jaw hit the floor at that church scene...so purrty.

I cannot wait to play this game, even if it does look a bit gears, it looks like it plays like a beast and I am up for cover based shooters!

Man so many games coming out around my birthday.

Which makes a change, usually there is nothing.

2015 the new 2007 confirmed.

Wow, this trailer was downright impressive. I can't wait to play The Order, it's shaping up to be the best looking game I've probably laid eyes on.

looks excellent but this will be the last order thread i visit

people just dropping spoilers left and right

A lot. That's the problem really, it doesn't break any new ground other than an interesting story and nice graphics. I think the story would be better suited to a high production value TV show.

Sometimes this is all I want in a game.

Between QB and 1886, I'm not sure who's bringing the best graphics to the table, but in terms of gameplay, it looks like they're neck and neck in a race to the middle. I imagine that both games are going to have to bank hard on their respective stories and characters.

You cannot be serious. I'm not saying QB doesn't look good. But these two games are leagues apart from each other when it comes to graphical fertility.

Looks like it plays like trash. Shame, RAD. Don't tell me your GoW games have better gameplay than this...

Purty tho

God-tier shotgun. He fired that machine pistol in a very cool looking way as well.

I haven't played a R@D game with bad gameplay so for, so I'm hyped about this. Visuals, sound, setting, it can be an unimaginative but well-crafted third person cover shooter and I'll be happy.

I really want to ride a horse and impale some halfbreeds with a lance, though.

Btw, looking at Gamersyde HQ video, RAD has managed to almost totally reduce specular shimmering that was previously present on some metal surfaces. Games looks crazy smooth right now. Phenomenal IQ.

This game basically looks like CG.

Also, you shoot people, it's a TPS, it looks rad, and things seem to break in spectacular fashion. What do you guys suggest them to do to spice up their "boring gameplay"?

Is it just me, or something is a little off with the birds flying in the distance?

Plays like every other third person shooter. This would include Quantum Break. At least it's not ripping off Max Payne.

If your perception on third person shooters is really that low, then sure.

Let me ask; have you played The Order? I'm only making inferences from the footage we've seen If you haven't played it, don't compare it to every other TPS.

Graphics are nice but the gameplay looks extremely generic and boring.

Quantum Break is developed by Remedy... who created Max Payne 1 and 2. Ripping them off? Haha.

Quantum Break's gameplay looks lot more interesting than this. And Remedy has the pedigree of knowing how to do TPS and story together well.

Kinda wishing these exclusives were flipped imho. I own a PS4 and would rather have Quantum Break than The Order.

I've already been burned by pretty graphics and bad gameplay once with my PS4, it's called Killzone Shadowfall.

Max Payne was a longggg time ago dude. Remedys track record has been far less impressive since then. RAD hasn't really made any big new IP or console game yet, but their reputation and critical acclaim with the ones they have made, are among the best of any similar developer out there.

I think The Order is most likely going to be the better game, but that's just my personal prediction. The Order certainly looks more polished, the gunplay more satisfying and refined, and the weapons, narrative, characters, lore and setting more unique and attractive.
