Phantom Breaker Battle Grounds

An additional character for PBBG Makise Kurisu (£5.09/€6.19/$9.35)

In the latest content update, and then I check the website and:

Title Kurisu Pack
Price
SCEE:4.99 EURO

I'm getting frustrated by the price misinformation for Phantom Breaker in the PAL region and no straight answer on what's happened with it.

People should contact Strangely Compelling, they're handling the international and PR release.

Disgaea 3 was not a ps+ game in march. I've been watching the free games every month and adding them to my download list and it was never one (though I wish it was). Do you mean it was on sale?

Disgaea 3 Vita was the PS+ title starting on March 26, 2013 for the US PSN. Though I was incorrect, it was never a EU PS+ title.

I still think it will get a price drop in the next few months, as that is fairly par for the course with NIS when sequels get released.

Still wish I could buy Breath of Fire 3 digital in the US...

dammit! how the hell did i miss that?? been wanting to play that game. i remember to "purchase" every single stupid game that comes on + and somehow I miss the one I want lol.

edit - i didn't miss it. thought you were saying 2014. derp.

How is Hohokum? Worth the full price? Decent length?
It looks so relaxing and charming but there are already so many games I want this month.

I played it for 2 or 3 hours, I'm like 1/3rd of the way done with eyes (the number of eyes to unlock varies widely by level) and I have no idea how many worms I have out of the total, I think I've visited, but not completed, a majority of the game. Expecting more than double the current playtime before I'm "done" at least with visible objectives. I haven't looked up spoilers so I'm not sure what happens when I open all eyes/collect all worms either.

Personally I think it's worth it for the art, experience and relaxation alone, but I know I'm more prone to liking these sort of things than most.

I'm a fan of the dualshock replica grips like the Vita Assist Grip from Japan or the Spartan Game Grip you can find from Australia (if you can find it for cheap).

I use the Nyko Power Grip solely because of the battery. I'm not entirely sure I prefer it to the plain Vita, but it keeps you off the touch pad and I know some people like the grippies.
I really like the looks of the Spartan Grip and I found a similar one here in Germany but it's out of stock atm. Many positive reviews and I really like that it's simple and looks like a normal Playstation controller.
The Nyko one is nice but too expensive here.
If It can't get the König grip above I'll probably get the PDP grip.

Nyko was only $25 on sale when I got it, probably wouldn't have dropped the $50 it normally was--the battery is nice but I rarely take it out of the house...and if I do the grip is a bit too bulky anyway. Being a man with manly man pockets I can just barely fit the Vita and no accessories in a (bulging) pocket

Thanks for your impressions. That's very helpful :)

I swear the WiFi on my Vita Slim is a lot slower than my OLED. From the first system update, I also had to update my OLED at the same time, it took a lot longer. And just downloading games in general feels very slow. I wonder if they put a cheaper wifi adapter in the Slim to cut costs.

So here are the PsOne games I own that are playable on Vita.

Alundra
Breath of Fire IV
Castlevania:SOTN
Chrono Cross
Dead in the Water
Dino Crisis
Dino Crisis 2
FFVII
FFVIII
FFIX
Front Mission 3
Grandia
Jet Moto 2
Jumping Flash
Klonoa
Magic Carpet
Motorhead
Persona 2:EP
R4
Rayman
Rayman 2
Syphon Filter
Syphon Filter 2
Syphon Filter 3
Tomb Raider 2
Vagrant Story
Wild Arms
Wild Arms 2
Wipeout

Am I missing anything that you guys would recommend adding to my PSX collection? I'm not interested in replaying any of the Resident Evil games as I played those over and over upon original release.

I guess I should get Jumping Flash 2 but is the frame rate as bad as the first one playing on Vita?

Hm, Nom Nom Galaxy is coming to PS4 and Vita http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/08/13/nom-nom-galaxy-sets-course-ps4-ps-vita/

Legend of Dragoon

Is Hohokum just a "wandering around simulator" or there's more?

There's gameplay, mostly of the discover and minor puzzle solving variety. Puzzles unlock Worms (which are your friends but don't seem to be playable or anything), there's one "major" puzzle per area of widely varying difficulty/type. Eyes are the primary "collectable", basically you just fly over the eyes (they're varying degrees of hidden) to "open" them, and there's a counter of current area/total eyes opened in the pause screen.

I have no idea what collecting all of them do, but it seems to be the only goal at this point. As mentioned, at least a few hours of gameplay so far.

Fair warning: the first area is rather confusing and leaves you to "solve" a "puzzle" by yourself. Just bump into things and you should be fine. Most puzzles are solved by bumping into things to see what they do.

edit:

Yeah I don't have a PS3, so I guess that's out.

Why is it not just listed in the vita store? What possible reason could there be for a first party PSX game that is perfectly playable to not be listed and have to be transferred using a PS3?

Is there a legitimate reason?

I don't think we ever found out the reason for this. The games that don't play on Vita we think are because of licensing issues, because Sony "fixed" a "bug" that let us download them for a brief period, but the "transfer from PS3 only" situation is even more puzzling.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago, need to transfer it from PS3 to Vita.

lol. those guys are out of their minds (in a good way). And yeah Ted is definitely a 90s guy, just think about how he was dressed yesterday :D

Thanks! it's a bit more interesting than I thought

Quick, stupid question, I apologize: Can I just store my PSN/PSP/PSV games (using that data transfer tool) on my PC and then delete them on my Vita to make space?

It's amazing, buy it!
I will!

Yes that works. If you want to backup save files as well: For PSP and PS1 games they are stored separately with an extra option in the tool to transfer them. Vita games have the save files included with the game and no separate step.

Thank you for the answer.

I wish Disgaea 4 was out in EU already =/

Finally beat all songs in Project Diva F and F2nd on extreme(Sadistic Music Factory and 2D Dream Fever took way too long) and got most of the trophies in Rogue Legacy, now I need some new stuff :D

BTW Rayman Legends worth it for the Vita (EU Sale) if I liked Origins?

I agree with this. I'm play with headphones on and it's such a great experience. Even if I "complete" the game, I know I will still go back just to unwind after a long day.

Resident Ev---Oh...(replay them anyway)

If you can get access to a PS3 to transfer, I highly recommend Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid

If the sale is a good price....then give it a shot :D. The gameplay is lifted directly from Origins and for about.....60% of the Legends content, you have levels similar to the Origins mixed with 20-30 Invasion stages modeled after the chest levels from Origins, making the game a really fun package for people loving Origins :). The only issue is the touch-screen stages...they aren't bad, but they take up a large chunk of the Legends content and there are to many of them for there own good (making them not that much fun :(). Thankfully, it is really easy to breeze through them so you never have touch them again.

The game also includes 40 levels from Origins, and with remastered visuals for those stages alongside the new physics improves Legends has over Origins, the levels are a lot of fun to replay :D.

Was gonna pick up Wolf Among Us the other day after receiving a free £10 PSN credit from Now TV. Pleased I waited!

i've logged into my psn account via the web a couple times this week. i've noticed it's not accurate at all. it's not accurately tracking what my last played games were and it also doesn't show which of my friends are online--it shows them offline when i know for a fact they are online playing. this is for ps4. is this a known issue?

I'm trying to build the best PSX collection but SCEA makes it hard.
Maybe I should get a PS3 instead of Playstation TV this fall for playing these on the tv.

Not a terrible idea honestly. I want a Vita TV but it's pretty limited especially for PSX. Plus you get some PS3 exclusives available to you that way and another PS+ console. And it plays, you know, real PSX disks. Might wait for holiday bundurus though

WHOAH it does? I thought PS3's weren't able to play older disc games?

Yes, it's also polished and impressive on the vita. Also Ubisoft patched the game to contain the levels that were missing in comparison to other versions apparently.

Does it get better? I played the tutorial and was a bit confused/annoyed. Getting around felt like a chore, might not have clicked though. Cool to see Q Games back on Playstation though.

The game has seen a number of updates that make it easier on newcomers. The devs have made improvements in how you get around, much less of a chore now. It's worth going back to.

Ah, that sounds interesting I played one of the earliest versions. how's controller support? I think I played with a mouse. I tend to get pissy with non-FPS/RTS/TPS games when using keyboard/mouse. I have since worked out my controller-on-pc woes as well (thanks DS4 and DS4Windows)

Looks like I'm getting a PS3 soon. Thanks gents

You can even (one-way) import PS1/PS2 memory card saves with a USB adapter. And, with a bit more work, even move those saves to PC (or vice versa) for emulators.

Getting really tired of this European Phantom Breaker BG crap, so I mailed Strangely Compelling (thanks Shizuka) and told them that this is a mess and asked what's what with the pricing.
If the strangely numbered prices weren't enough, the DLC is even less than half price of the regular game (14.49 and 6.19 euros), so weird.
