Pretty interesting. Lots of characters got revealed simultaneous with a launch date of a new product... next one being Hyrule Warriors tomorrow.

It's likely that we're not going to get another character reveal this week. Monday is the 18th, and the 3DS version comes out in Japan on September 9th. Like all big games, the game will leak out well in advance.

Sakurai has about 2.5 weeks left if he wants to formally reveal anything before the leaks start coming in.

Exactly. That's why I'd been expecting Ganondorf tomorrow, but now I'm not so sure...

Where do your items go on the WiiU, how do you use one of your 8 items on the WiiU, where's the map and stats screen for each player on the WiiU, where do percentages go?


It's not designed for the WiiU at all.

This though? This is very cool. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out the best selling LE - but we'll wait and see. I'm sorry you, and others, aren't into it though. I think it's way better than we could have expected.

Edit: I do think it's weird though the characters aren't aligned along the hinge as a base. Now when you open the 3DS all the characters are upside down. Nintendo needs to take a cue from laptops in this case.

It would have been better if the artwork were DIFFERENT from the cover art. If it was the same concept (Smash characters lined up), that would also be great, I just don't like that it's THE SAME THING as what's on the box.
 
Yeah not really feeling that 3DS Xl either, a little disappointed, but whatever. If I really loved it I would have jumped on it immediately, so at least I saved some money considering how much I'm already pouring into the game to begin with haha.

I think it's sorta sad that I remember the amount of handhelds you have based on that post of you buying the Japanese 3DS on ebay

Would be a shame to see it go, but you're right. If Break the Targets ends up being 5 dull stages like Brawl had, maybe it's better off gone. Fingers crossed though, as always.

Animal Crossing 3DSXL owner here. When I did a system transfer over to the system it moved everything; games, friend code, & friend list [I did this before NNID was on the 3DS, but that should move over too].

Maybe they could do a compromise? Individual stages for single player, and generic Target Smash stages for co op (assuming they're even bringing back co op for single player modes)

Actually, we don't have any confirmation of co op returning in Smash 4, do we? There's nothing on the 3DS Stadium Games being co op.

Also, seems like Smash 3DS won't have Events (which would be a really huge loss for SP Smash)

Are you 100% sure that's the case? I think that's what it was before NNID was implemented onto 3ds... but after? I think that's Why ALBW was a download code and not preinstalled.

I not 100% certain, but I believe that's reason you need to be online for a system transfer (to combine both eShop accounts).

It seems like as long as you don't make an NNID for the new system you should be fine.

I wonder if they nerfed MetaKnight as they did to Kirby in melee hoho

guess that covers Kirby reps right? I was expecting Ganondorf since we have Hyrule Warriors coming out in japan, but it's nice to see the bat back
 
Glad to see them posting updates that are substantial in the middle of the week or randomly. Should have been happening all along! I like Meta Knight as a character, though I don't choose to play him a lot for some reason.
 
That Olimar panel is pretty good with the Pikmin converging above him. Can't wait to see Ness' and Lucas'
and Kumatora's

I love all of those stained glass portraits except for Donkey Kong. To have him standing on two legs and crossing his arms is just kind of weird considering his smash version is extremely gorilla-like.

Am I think only one who thinks that 3DS looks awful? I wish they'd gone with something more subdued. Like maybe only use the white color, like this.

Having the series icons tiled nicely across the case, a bit like the Curtain Calls XL. Of course the problem would be revealing icons for reps not yet shown.

We're getting bosses in the multiplayer arenas themselves this time. It shouldn't be hard to boost them (more speed and damage) for battles specifically against them.

I don't really care about classic mode tbh. I didn't care much for the subspace emissary either other than for the cool cutscenes. So I dunno, I don't think it's so much a matter of length rather than finding some way for it to be interesting. Maybe the mode they have now on the 3DS version with different routes to choose and a difficulty selection system a la Kid Icarus is the right way to go, though I don't really plan to play that that much anyway. I guess it might be like Kirby Triple Deluxe's fight minigame in length with like 7 stages plus bonus minigames though?

I think it will vary depending on the path you take like Find Mii 2.

Top path is longest, middle is ... in the middle, and bottom is shortest.


Orrrrrr if not that, then like 20 minutes tops.

Edit: That's a bad answer from me. I say you get like 3 fights, break some targets, 3 more fights, hopefully land on some platforms or run through a maze, 2 fights, metal fight, then Master, Both hands, or Tabuu depending on path taken, speed, and if you used a continue or not.

I still wonder if Sakurai will go nuts and give us Ganondorf tonight too.
