I understand retaliation but it will only prevent the sympathy they would have gotten for being attacked. They could have really gotten the world on their side if they could have survived the night without retaliating. What a terrible situation.

The police are the real morons. What the hell did they expect coming out with SWAT and military gear, shooting tear gas and rubber bullets and all manner of heavy handed shit? That everyone would simply take it? The police have done nothing to address the problems of that community and then occupied the fucking place. You would have to be an idiot to not think that this would be a highly probably consequence of the police's acitons.
This is going to be pushed under the rug either way.

I was actually wondering this earlier. I cannot possibly fathom that this hasn't been top 10 worldwide all night. I follow dozens of people from all sorts of media and walks of life and tonight has been most of them tweeting and retweeting nonstop.
