I've noticed that the trends I'm getting on Twitter right now are the same exact ones I was getting 8 hours ago. I think Twitters trend system is broken. Surely #Ferguson would be trending even in Philly?

Even changing it to all of USA it's still the same trends from 4PM. Chicken Fries are back was trending before I went to work this afternoon.

Fuck. Even changing it to St. Louis is still trends from this afternoon. Chicken Fries, Burger King and someone named Jack who made a video is trending on every location I choose.

If Twitters trend system is broken, it sure picked a hell of a time to crash.

Completely despicable.

As they took me into custody, the officers slammed me into a soda machine, at one point setting off the Coke dispenser. They put plastic cuffs on me, then they led me out the door.

I could see Ryan still talking to an officer. I said: “Ryan, tweet that they’re arresting me, tweet that they’re arresting me.”

He didn’t have an opportunity, because he was arrested as well.

The police led us outside to a police van. Inside, there was a large man sitting on the floor between the two benches. He began screaming: “I can’t breathe! Call a paramedic! Call a paramedic!”

Ryan and I asked the officers if they intended to help the man. They said he was fine. The screaming went on for the 10 to 15 minutes we stood outside the van.

“I’m going to die!” he screamed. “I’m going to die! I can’t breathe! I’m going to die!”

Eventually a police car arrived. A woman — with a collar identifying her as a member of the clergy — sat in the back. Ryan and I crammed in next to her, and we took the three-minute ride to the Ferguson Police Department. The woman sang hymns throughout the ride.

MSNBC Live has three black women discussing the repercussions of this and the fact that cops telling anyone otherwise that this is an isolated incident is malfeasance.

Hannity has an all-black group speculating how thuggish Michael Brown was to get shot considering this kind of thing isn't racially charged too often - specifically if he had fought the cop for the gun.

Why does the size of the area matter? Does that lessen the blatant rights violations we've been watching? The attacks on peaceful citizens and journalists?

What if it was your street? What if militarized cops backed by armored vehicles were launching smoke grenades (which are still a fire hazard, by the way) onto your lawn?

May just be whatever. I'm in the Twin Cities and getting the trend. I switch to SL and get it. Though when I go to Us i don't. Twitter is just dumb when it comes to this stuff, I swear.

I have no defense for the police, but people weeping tears of blood because of tear gas and a bunch of cops more or less sitting and standing around some cars does not V for Vendetta make.

People were complaining about how the riots would take away from the murder of Brown a few days ago, and here we are getting outraged at cops moving up and down a street. Kind of ironic, no? Anarchy porn is a rather fitting term.

Again, I'm not defending the actions of the cops, but people are starting to get a little sensationalist about all of this. 90% of this stuff is consolidated along a single street in a poor suburb of north county, there is no war breaking out in the Midwest.

You should really stop trying to deflect from the issues at hand. The fact this is going on period is a problem. The fact that all of this is going on because of skin color is a problem. The fact that an unarmed teen was killed and left in the street for hours is a problem. The fact this happens so often all over the country is a problem. And quite frankly, the fact that you seem bent on ignoring that just to point out the size of the area makes you part of the problem.

No, it doesn't look like the entire town is a warzone, but it looks like the cops are putting on a ludicrous display of power.

If they'd backed-down several hours ago and put the officer under investigation, this probably would have fizzled out.

The Internet was kind of a horrific place for a while.

This wouldn't have happened in the first place in Ladue, Clayton, Town & Country, etc. The conditions were ripe here for some racially charged killing, that's all I'm saying.

I'm not saying that the anger towards the police is unwarranted. It very much is. Some posters are just getting a bit carried away with their outrage, in my opinion.

Holy shit! How disgusting are these responses? I never said any of the things I'm being accused of. For fucking shame.

This is a terrible, terrible thing. The only point I was trying to make, to offer perspective for those of you not here, is that this fucked up shit is happening on a much smaller scale than people are making it out to be.
