Do we have any nearby GAFfers that want to be our GAF correspondent? That would be awesome.
Dude, fucking priorities.
Please, tell me, DreamDrop. What can I do that the media can't?
???
I'm saying that anyone in STL should be more concerned with keeping themselves save than providing updates to a fucking internet forum. That was an incredibly thoughtless comment.

No, I misunderstood you. I live in St. Louis.
So, it's not safe over there? Man, it really is a war zone then. In USA of all countries.

He is not right. The police escalated the situation, mocking the people even with SWAT teams and full combat armor now.
That's not how you de-escalate things.
Nah, it's pretty tame except all the arrests and tear gas.
One officer getting hit with a bottle is all it takes in situations like this.
All it takes for what exactly? Police to teargas 300 peaceful protesters?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YUm9xgN6m0
Are you purposely choosing to be blind? The police let their peaceful protest go on for hours without escalating the situation. Police should absolutely be prepared in case anything takes a turn for the worse. At 4:14:30 It clearly shows that a peaceful protest wasn't good enough for an individual within the crowd.
The only one who escalated anything was that individual. Although it may seem like a minor incident. One officer getting hit with a bottle is all it takes in situations like this.

See, that's bullshit. The cops didn't destroy multiple businesses at night and ransack the places. The only people rioting are the cops.
"Don't point an assault rifle at someone unless if you intend to kill them."
Isn't that a basic tenet of gun handling?
Police in Watertown, Connecticut, (population 22,514) recently acquired a mine-resistant, ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle (sticker price: $733,000), designed to protect soldiers from roadside bombs, for $2,800. There has never been a landmine reported in Watertown, Connecticut.
I mean wtf? WTFAnd police in Bloomington, Georgia, (population: 2,713) acquired four grenade launchers through the program, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

That and shooting center mass/chest are basically rule 1 and rule 2
I think they just mean "why aren't they commenting on it or condemning it?"
Though some of us are.

Fucking absolutely. You do not point a gun, loaded or unloaded, unless you are ready to pull the trigger and kill someone. It's the same for putting your finger on or near the trigger, which is what disgusts me about the way so many open carry activists handle their weapons.![]()

I'm sorry but that's bullshit. Cops are literally above the law. You can't "protect" yourself from them due to this. They have such a high level superiority and immunity in situations they have to be held accountable. One person throwing a bottle does not mean they should be using a disportiontate response. If we're treating cops to be on the same level as that bottle thrower then citizens should be legally justified to defend themselves from cops.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YUm9xgN6m0

As a European it's shocking to see how well armed (or stupendously over-armed) the police are. Saw this on newsweek: http://www.newsweek.com/how-americas-police-became-army-1033-program-264537
I mean wtf? WTF
I don't want to be on the receiving end of this.

Would you be the kind of guy that hurled the bottle amongst a peaceful protest, then? They're not offenders, they just have to deal with the disproportionate consequences of an idiot throwing shit, and that's horrible. The police shoots a teen and the protestors are the offenders? Way to paint a false picture.

The grenade launchers are probably meant for teargas and rubber bullets, pretty much every riot police in Europe has those as well. Though I'm not quite sure why such a tiny ass village fears riots in the first place. Many European forces also have assault rifles, but that's obviously for SWAT like forces, not for riot police. Riot police forces are often just armed with batons and pepper spray - never bring a gun to a fistfight and all.As a European it's shocking to see how well armed (or stupendously over-armed) the police are. Again, chances are that Anonymous is wrong. It'd be irresponsible as hell to take anything they say as fact.

Also, many European police forces also own armored vehicles. That's a modern German one for example:
