Saw on another forum someone mention OMG! moments that happen in ring. Two examples were Cesaro Swing and the Apron Superplex. Apparently you need to be at a set level of stamina to complete these.

They're "OMG" moves now? The game has an "S" icon and an "F" icon, what would Cesaro's signature moves be if those are "OMG" moves instead?

Regarding stars, Yuke's did have a system where your matches were rated back in SvR 2009 and 2010. It made for a way worse season mode than SvR 2008's, and in no way did the actual versus game depend on it, but at least they had it once.

The new getting up with ropes animation is nice, but still you can see the underlying clunkiness from past games. You can only dress up a turd so much.

Yep, it's still the same engine from the PS2 days. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same as the PS1 Smackdown games. So while they've done wonders with the visuals, the physics, collision detection, and lack of dynamic animations makes the game look hideous by modern standards.

Canned animations won't cut it anymore. They NEED a dynamic animation system, so wrestlers interact with ropes/objects/other-wrestlers when the animations intersect them, rather than just gliding through or sliding around the mat. Man, what a disappointment after those screenshots.

KoC2 does something similar to that in which all of your matches are rated out of 100. The more close falls and proper build up to big spots, the better your matches are. Not to mention it also depends on the arena and crowd you wrestle at. Certain places prefer one style over the other.

...And that's why I still love that game more than FPR. Gives you a gameplay goal even when you've played the game for seven years. Well that, and a manual grapple.

That's how whoever played it described it. They use up a finisher and you can execute them at certain stamina. This is all second hand information.

From the gameplay vids I've seen the game looks awesome and is the closest thing they've ever come to playing like what's seen on TV. It makes everything else we've seen in the past look extremely arcadey. I think when you guys actually see the gameplay vids any wrestling fan will greatly appreciate the changes they've made. It's a huge leap in the right direction gameplay wise.

What do you think we've been watching? Unless you have a link to a better video.

What have you seen that we haven't?

Maybe I'm giving 2K too much credit, but I think that they can only do so much in one year. This year they vastly improved the graphics. You can already see small stuff that shows they are working on improving animation. I think it'll take more than a year to turn what Yukes had into a great game.

I haven't played a WWE game in years, probably not since the PS2 games (maybe one early on in the 360 lifespan, I forget), but I have a question.

Is it still always just a fighting game at it's base level? Or have the actually ever tried to make a wrestling game that focuses on putting on a good match and being rated for it? I remember years ago there was Giant Gram on Dreamcast where you were scored based on how well the match was received by the crowd, with bonuses for high spots done at the right moment, letting the matches ebb and flow back and forth to build momentum for big finishes, etc.

These games turn me off so much because I feel like it's just a different version of Tekken/Street Fighter/Soul Calibur/etc, meaning "beat up the other guy til his health bar goes down and your meter goes up, do special move, win".

There have been wrestling games that have rated you on your performance and entertainment (Day of Reckoning 2 does this) but ultimately, no. You have to go out of your way to put on a good match instead of just focusing on getting the win.

I've posted several times now how I'd love to see a game mode that wasn't about winning a match at all. Instead, you are given a set of objectives to meet that you need to complete to have a successful match and gain audience popularity. I'd really love to see them tie it into the WWE Universe mode (season mode). The success of the talent in the company would be based on their performance and entertainment factor more than on simply winning and losing. That's more sim to me.

They already do something similar for the WWE Story modes they have yearly. You're required to meet objectives to recreate the historical spots in a match. I have a lot of fun with it.

YES! I would love if they tried this, focusing literally more on the "entertainment" aspect and how a wrestling promotion really works.

Objectives would be stuff like "Put on a 12 minute match, get X amount of heat and put over WWE Superstar" or "You're the curtain jerker tonight, get out there and get the crowd hot to start this show". "Nail this promo and build heat for Sunday's show", etc, etc.

Tie ratings and fan approval into it, watch your guy go from NXT rookie to WWE superstar after legitimately working hard and gathering support, not just "Beat X amount of guys til you get title shot at Wrestlemania, win, roll credits".

New selling and using the ropes to get up are awesome animations. Still see that shitty european uppercut orton has had in his moveset since 2009. With all these new animations do we think we'll see a proper crawl to the ropes animation to break submissions?

Oh and is anyone else bothered by Cenas jorts looking low poly? Just don't seem right to me. :/

Since Universe came in, they made it up to you. You can split the brands, unify the brands, hell, even have 4 brands with their own monthly PPVs. It also has a shitton of belts that can be assigned to anyone, in or outside of Universe mode. You'll be able to make the main title one belt or even both belts, but change his multi-title entrance.

Yea that's def the way I'll go. Actually hoping for even more options in the universe mode. I want more story options and more match types like triple threat title bouts.

So you pulled it out of your ass, good to know.

"Needless" hate for IGN, because they hype the games up every year, when they're always the same old shit, or even worse than the previous year. Their previews sound more like PR statements than actual previews.

I had more fun with HCTP than all of the recent games because it wasn't afraid to be fast-paced, satisfying and arcadey. It had no delusions of realism (and failing miserably at that as the recent games have done). It had great animations that made the move feel impactful. It had no fucking awful commentary from two bored idiots sitting in a booth. Each wrestler felt unique, with their own little animations that made them feel more lifelike, whereas now most of them share animations and barely stand out if not for character models.

So yeah, that's why I had more fun with HCTP than the previous games. The problem with going down a sim route is that Yukes is utterly fucking incompetent at making a wrestling sim. Simple as that.

So please, feel free to stop pulling shit out of your ass just because you can't be bothered to make a proper argument.

Made a few arguments, obviously, which is why you answered in such detail. I actually agree with a lot of your points, but for some reason you think that you have to add emphasis with swearing, insults, and general other YouTube-commenter style anger, and your points get lost in that torrent of hate.

But hey, don't let that get in the way of your chest-beating angry panda impression. You big tough guy, you! Should probably throw a few more f-bombs in there next time, just to help everyone understand.

I actually didn't mind the last game. I just wanted it to provide more of a structured career mode. The Universe stuff is fine and I get why its so popular - and is definitely a worthy inclusion - but I felt like I had to manage absolutely everything.

All I want to do is to start with a basic CAW with "beginner" stats, start out on NXT or something as a rookie, and make my way up to the top, increasing my stats as I go and taking part in feuds, forming alliances and all that stuff, on my way to becoming a WWE Hall of Famer. That would work for me. :)

I think certain people were going to be critical of this game no matter what it looked like.

2K really should release an official gameplay video ASAP. That first off-screen one had over 100,000 views when it got taken down. Not really ideal marketing.

Played this at Gamescom earlier today and wrote up my thoughts here - http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/wwe-2k15-preview-hands-first-impressions-gamescom-1461168

It's a big step in the right direction but on this evidence not quite the revelation people might have been hoping for.

Few tidbits..

- There are 5 times as many animations, captured in a motion capture studio with its own full size wrestling ring
- Studio was also used to record entirely new audio
- Three times as much commentary as before, all re-recorded with Cole and King in the same room this time
- My Career mode will be heavily inspired by the existing mode in NBA 2K14 (I haven't played that game so I don't exactly what that entails.

Oh nice, interested in hearing about a new career mode.

I really liked the Wrestlemania history mode last year as a retro wrestling junkie, but was disappointed by no core single player mode after that (like a current story mode). Glad to hear there will be something.

Wow I remember seeing this back in 07. It looks so much better now.

I always forget this game exists every few years. I hope they eventually get it out and it somewhat meets the expectations they set out for so long ago. Mod tools and pc could give the game a life of it's own for years to come.

92 roster spots PLUS seperate tabs for downloadable, CAWs, divas, AND a blank (NXT?!) tab.

Let's figure this out...

54 male (+ 15 female on the ACTIVE roster.)

- Since CM Punk is still in the game, we'll assume those released AFTER Punk's departure will also be in the game.. some of them.
- We'll go with McIntyre and Jinder Mahal.
- Add Punk, ADR, and Santino.

Now 57 on the MALE roster. Let's add other male personnel into this...

- Booker T, Jerry Lawler, JBL, Albert, and William Regal. 62
- Add Vince because it's Vince. 63

(Lita)
Savage
Razor Ramon/Scott Hall
Steamboat
Stone Cold
STING (Surfer, Crow)
Shawn Michaells

No, you didn't really have many arguments, just a few insipid comments that I felt compelled to respond to. And you clearly still don't have a point, considering you have to stick to making facetious comments. So funny how my panda impression got more of a point across than your faux-intellectual waste of an internet post. Also I'm surprised you agree with a lot of the points coming from someone doing an angry panda impression. Very acute observations there.

Also, if you think that was Youtube-commenter style anger, you clearly don't see much in the way of actual Youtube comments. A few fucks here and there is hardly a torrent of hate.

As it goes, my point was to get you to actually make one rather than just bellowing in generalities about how everything sucks. So it worked.

Well that's nice of you. Would've been cool if you could've made an actual point instead of coming up with exaggerations of your own and making shit up out of thin air.

Soooo, where are all those extra animations? That looks mighty similar to 2k14 with some better textures on the models. Also, the arena, crowd, ref, announcers and rest of the ring area looks fucking terrible.

My hype is slooooowly deflating. Should have known something was up with only screenshots.

I'll still wait for direct 1080p captures before cancelling my pre-order. It's hard to judge off of phone camera videos.

That's being awfully optimistic that they would include all the active Divas. I think there was one year where there weren't even enough Divas on the disc to do a 6 person match.

Also, only 2 Triple H's? Hah!

The weapons still look awful. It was the best back when ECW was included the first time. The weapons felt like they had weight to them and you could spin the ladder around, shades of Terry Funk style.

The weapon stealing looks god awful and anything involving weapons didn't like to be improved at all.
