You know he is.

He'll tell the negroes to sing negro spirituals, mention the obligatory police "bad apples", try to get people to focus on "healing and calm", say nothing about police posing as military troops, may even try to get people to trust police again... I don't know.

I hope I'm wrong.
What would you like him to say?

Oh, you're totally right. I think getting mad is probably the alternative to what I would do otherwise, which is just be really really sad.

Ugh.

Take some respite and ease that sadness in that you see the falsehood and don't play along. All change begins inward.

The more people realize the equality all living beings have - we still have to work on humans - the more we can live in reality instead of a distorted idea in opposition with reality itself.

I know there's some within Anonymous that want to help. But with what they do, they need 100% confirmation before throwing possible innocent names out there.

Totally agree. Sounds like they had 2-4 names that they believed were the shooter. Some disagreement as to what to do with the info, one decided to release the info he believed to be true, with dissenting opinions. Sounds like even if the name was wrong, the Anon behind it would just blame a "bad source."

It's all on this one's Twitter timeline:

Edit:

Looks like the Twitter account of the Anonymous who released the info has been suspended, and the other Anonymous members participating have called his info out as bad:

That's how it works when our government is functioning. How will it work in the current political climate?

The power still resides in the the citizens of America (also read as constituents to politicians who'd like to keep their job). If this issue became a focal point for the president, and thus a significant portion of our populace, politicians would have no choice but to acknowledge and push for some sort of satisfactory resolution.

RE: The Anonymous thing, like Judge Dredd said, you can't execute a perp on 99%. They fucked up.

How'd the gun control push go? Even with a significant majority of Americans in support of common-sense changes, nothing happened in Congress.

Or immigration.

Citizen's voices are not important to politicians these days, sorry.

That police release the names of the innocent and do perp walks as a form of intimidation. I don't think that is right.

I don't think its right if others do it either but somehow I have little sympathy for a cop that shop an unarmed kid in the back.

Neither do I.

The problem is, that may not be the cop. He may not even be in the same precinct. Anon isn't sure.

Again, see the Boston Marathon Bombing to see how vigilante internet justice can go wrong.

The fact that we aren't even certain that our own President would speak out against a police department essentially enacting martial law in one of his own cities speak volumes about how deeply rooted all this complacency over misconduct has gotten.

The same citizens of America who have stalled the entire country on immigration reform are the people who are totally fine with what is going on in Ferguson, I highly doubt you'll see much happen.

What would you like him to say?
I would like him to condemn the police actions, make a statement about the scenes in Ferguson looking like a scene from Fallujah, condemn militarized policing, condemn arresting members of the press and shooting tear gas at them while stealing their camera equipment.

That's a start. It's not going to happen though.

We actually have multiple posters advocating releasing innocent names in an attempt to blackmail police which may directly lead to innocent people and their families being hurt or killed.

Wow.

No totally agree that anon should not release a random name. I do wish the police department would release the name though. They don't have any issues printing who got arrested, innocent or not, in the newspaper. It just keeps up the narrative that the police are only concerned with protecting themselves.

God forbid if he ever came out and took a stance on defending Michael Brown. FoxNews would be throwing "even the President is an angry black man!" so damn fast.

Obama's approval rating about to crumble to the ground with his upcoming remarks...

I fully expect him to say a bunch of stupid stuff like "be patient as we go about investigating this matter." It's been 6 fucking days dude. We should know who the cop is and why charges haven't been filed against him. If this cop gets off the hook with this shit...I'll be so pissed off.

Then he'll make some spectacle of the rioting that occurred at the Gas Station. On how "two wrongs don't make a right" while totally ignoring the militarized police altogether. And he'll totally ignore the first amendment in which people have a right to assemble. I wish I had some popcorn...this is a clusterfuck address about to happen.

Where's Kanye..."Barack Obama doesn't care about black people."

MSNBC just showed the reporters getting tear gassed then showed the police taking their camera equipment down. I Didn't think that would make it to the T.V.

Did you see the reaction when he asked the protestors to be peaceful? It's a joke. If anything, if he came out and criticized the police officers harshly, it would give the media all the more reason to assassinate Brown's character even further and defend the cops more vehemently.

Edit: MSNBC's coverage has been top notch.

I agree. Waiting is no longer an option. Something needs to be done about this because at this rate, it is only going to get worse. People are already getting hurt. I can't imagine what will happen if someone were so severely injured during this protest that they were to die fighting this. Things are escalating very quickly and I can't imagine any of this easing up unless something major is done.

Well, big things are going to be done today. The County and local PD is likely being removed completely. But it'll be interesting tonight once the protesting starts, and how the state PD handles things.

The department needs to be gutted from the top down. There is obviously something wrong there. I've heard this situation in Ferguson has been brewing for a long time and people have been waiting for something like this to happen.

Except you're wrong.

Numbers show most of the country (myself included, obviously) actually support immigration reform. And with that being said, it's fair to say at least some of that support came because Obama openly stated his own support for those efforts. The stalling has come about not because of lack of public support, but because of bureaucratic hogwash in DC, but we already know 90% of them aren't doing what they do for us average citizens.

You're right; this isn't going to lead to a complete overhaul of laws and discriminatory practices overnight, that's a foolish expectation. However, if Obama came on more strongly regarding the racial implications of these sort of shootings (can't forget that Walmart one either) and the militarization of the police, that may at least convince more of the public to give a hoot about it as well, which lends to more public support. And if Obama and his admin can't get things done on that note, maybe the next President and his/her administration can. It's about laying the seeds and he's done decently well on that for gay rights and immigration (which primarily affects Latino families).

What hypothetical magic spell prevents him from doing the same with police militarization and rampant race-based shootings against innocent Black people?
