Oh, awesome! I didn't know you were here either. I'll keep a list of people who mention and maybe we can plan some kind of meet up. Or, as you said, at least meet each other at a tournament.

awesome post neiteio. very inspirational read. gives good perspective for someone who might think smashGAF (or smash fans in general) is full of people who dont do anything with their lives.

That's not the takeaway I was aiming for with my post. My words are meant to encourage anyone who thinks they're stuck in a rut by reminding them they're special and can apply who they are in many ways, all while finding meaningful joy in the moment and drawing strength from the past. I'm not comparing anyone, or suggesting anyone should compare themselves to anyone -- that's the complete opposite of what I'm trying to say.

The important part is to never feel down on yourself. Some people will flog themselves mercilessly over this, that or the other thing. I'm asking people to be gentle to themselves, keep their chin up, smile and stay strong. Love yourself so you're strong enough to love others.

Here's a question: let's say you had to choose one non-videogame character to put into Smash Bros. Who would it be? I honestly hate the idea of that happening, but for the sake of conversation let's run with it.

Honestly, Wreck-It Ralph would be a pretty good candidate; he at least has a connection to the video game world. I guess you could say Captain N would be a funny joke character as well.

He was awesome in Jump Super Stars. Summoning giant monsters to fight for him...plus he's had a TON of games too. Hell, as the King of Games he'd probably be a Smash Pro.

well theres the irvine thing coming up aaaand the 3DS release. Im dropping my mixtape/movie that weekend so I might be busy but the next weekend im game to meet up and play some smash! maybe somewhere on sunset strip? we should make like a facebook group or something!

Guess I'll have my own Smash impressions to post in this thread next weekend. Smash 3DS is joining the Play Nintendo tour and they're stopping in the Mall of Georgia (8/15-8/17), Houston Galleria (which is where I will be) (8/22-8/24) and Irvine Spectrum (8/29-9/1). Very convenient for me as I was gonna be in the Galleria that weekend anyway

I'm most looking forward to trying out Megaman and Little Mac, but returning vets I'm looking to play as are Sonic, Bowser, Pit, and DK. I doubt I'll get to try them all cause I'm sure it will be packed and time-constrained but if anyone is interested then I'll try my best to make a mental note of what's going on with the characters. Also i'm not a tourney player so I wouldn't expect a whole lot of nitty-gritty breakdowns and in depth observations cause even though I'm aware of the tactics and skills used in tourney play, my playstyle isn't deeply intimate with the approach to the game of a tournament minded individual.

Haha, that's awesome! Despite being like a 20 minute bus ride away from it, I stayed home because I wanted to watch the Digital Event Live and figured I wouldn't get a ticket anyway (though, apparently, I would have). Still, I enjoyed watching it through the stream.

And I'll PM everyone tomorrow and figure out who wants in. Super pumped to maybe get a local group going! Though, aren't you a pro player RomanceDawn? You may wipe the floor with me...

Ah, same here. Moved from my hometown in Alabama, where I had a great setup. My apartment wouldn't be awful for a few people, but it's definitely not the best. I have a 50 in. tv, but it's my only somewhat large bedroom.

Aw man, that's awesome! It's weird, I actually preferred staying home to watch it; I think because there was new footage I actually wanted to see it direct feed on my computer instead of a room with flashing lights and screaming. My only worry was that they'd reveal a character and I'd miss out on the craziness (still don't understand why Pac-Man wasn't shown, but whatever).
