Doesn't this contradict the eye witness accounts that he was shot in the back while running away?

Depends. People could have assumed shots fired were direct hits and could have infact been misses. The fact so many shots hit him in the outer extremities indicates long range shots or a terrible aim. The last shots being head shots is very worrisome

I don't remember the witnesses actually saying that he was shot in the back, just that he was shot at and it appeared that something made him "jerk" as if he had been hit, then he turned around and got killed. Maybe I'm misremembering. But there's nothing to contradict the idea that he was shot at while running away.

If a mod finds this stuff worthy of OP, here it is.

I compiled a list of videos and witness accounts to hope that helps people narrow in this piece of information since some come in without really knowing just how many witnesses have a similar story:
Michael Brown's friend who was with him, Dorian Johnson (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQeni0qt8Vo)

Anyone wondering how much all this shit costs?

Michelle McCaskill, media relations chief at the Defense Logistics Agency, confirms that the Ferguson Police Department is part of a federal program called 1033 that distributes hundreds of millions of dollars of surplus military equipment to civilian police forces across the United States. The materials range from small items, such as pistols and automatic rifles, to heavy armored vehicles such as the MRAPs used in Afghanistan and Iraq.

John Oliver: on the patronizing nature of the curfew. "Let's apply this to the other side. Let's take away all of the ridiculous military gear that the police have armed themselves with. If they can go one whole month without murdering an unarmed black man, then they can have their fucking toys back."

That autopsy makes me want to throw up. And what's worse is I can already feel the "he wasn't shot in the back, so the cop is innocent!" train chugging.

Just because he was shot in the back doesn't mean he wasn't surrendering. Cop still shot a surrendering suspect, which is second degree murder.

Yep. There were people just waiting for this so they can grasp at straws for "contradictions" already a lot of people in this thread doing it.

I couldn't believe French went with that curfew. I get that they wanted peace but it was such a babying kind of tactic.

It would be really hard to tell for sure if someone was shot in the back, actually. It's not like a videogame where blood spurts out of the wound. They probably thought he was (hell, Mike might have thought he was) when he turned around. He might have been just scared.

It likely means the cop shot and missed, which prompted Brown to turn around. Then he was gunned down.

This. Some of the witnesses even say he was shot at, while others say he was hit. The point of contention is these stories still corroborate one another even if the details are slightly different. That is to be expected given the different vantage points. Example being if the cop shot at Mike and Mike jumped/twitched before turning around; one might think he was hit.

gunshot wounds to the arm could indicate trying to shield himself right?

Possibly, since you're suppose to aim at center of mass it'd make sense if Mike shielded himself.

They recovered three bullets from the body, but they haven't said where they were.

That would give you the trajectory.
