He's being sarcastic. Though there are people who've said as much, possibly in this thread.
There's a potential privacy issue to be resolved however, given the situations police find themselves in occasionally inside homes and whatnot. I'm sure it could be done but it wouldn't necessarily be easy, practically or politically.

I have been trying to follow this thread and event as much as I can.. I have some questions/wonderings...
1. PO Wilson, was it stated/proven from where he made the shots? (Was he in the car or was he outside?)
2. I assume he has/had a collegue (perhaps the one driving the car). What has been his statements?
3. The shot/s in the back, were they proven wrong?
4. How are the police acting in this matter, meaning, are they all protecting eachother and backing PO Wilson "no matter what" or are there claims that justice should prevail even from officers?
As I see it, the people wants justice and the one someone to pay for this uneccessary act. IF the police are protecting themselves and backing eachother up, then of course it will be tensions. If PO Wilson acted in a way which was totally uncalled for (for which it seems) then he should be "thrown to the wolfs" meaning that, he should get his punishment..
How are the laws in Missouri state? Death for murdering someone? (PO Wilson will not likely get the death penalty but there will be more chaos if he "only" gets fined and fired)

Yep. They are the reason cops get paid leave after they misbehave, too. The departments don't have a say in that.

I keep looking at that and any one of the three shots, bicep, forearm, hand could have hit him while he was running away, in fact I think the lower two are more likely to have happened while running than standing with his hands up.
There won't be. But you can bet that people become their own cctv and record everything. Because they no longer trust the system at all.

Problem is, if a cop can be recorded, a cop should record.
Yeah, there's a privacy issue, but it needs to be one of those things that if police are involved, in this case, privacy is Understood to be non existent.
The federal government is run by politicians who don't want to touch this with a barge poll.
I think we're better off not posting awful comments from other sites.
Perms are for junior members or members who already have a lot of bans under their belt.

This press conference wait seems like media punishment.
No actual statement from Wilson has been released other than his name and that he went to the hospital for facial swelling.
I don't think he had a partner. A lot of departments have done away with them having partners because it encourages riskier behavior to protect their partner.

No, that can't be. Privacy cannot be "non-existent" when the police are involved. I think most would argue that's when it needs to be existent more than ever.

My main concern with cops getting cameras would be how often they'd end up off in the thick of it. "Suspect took it out to eliminate evidence," etc.

Okay, first off the riots are happening AFTER THE POLICE! Giving you benefit of just tuning in, so for the ENTIRE LAST WEEK the way things have gone was Peaceful protests, police show up, FIND A REASON TO FIRE TEAR GAS, people scramble and panic and riot. The ONE night the police did NOTHING was the most peaceful night St. Louis had that ENTIRE week.

Police trying to shut down the VICE feed, won't let them film through police staging area.
Cops really ought to be in favor of mandatory recording devices. From what I've been reading, rollouts in smaller cities have been effective in reducing false complaints against police as well as in reducing police misbehavior.
With tech being what it is, how are they to know? You no longer require a camera to hold. A simple cell phone holder cleverly placed will suffice. With cloud storage, how can they stop this?
