Dan can really prove to me if he is an all-or-nothing man.

reworded: how many times will dan attempt to explain what's going on to drew, only for drew to demonstrate that he understands the plots of the game better than mgs megafan dan

Midway through an MGS game, Drew is going to come in with a notebook containing notes and charts he made and blow Dan's mind.

Since Dan's mantra is knowing either everything or nothing about a subject and MGS seem to be in the everything camp, I think he'll do pretty good. Probably a couple of bad interpretations since the plot in the later games get so insanely convoluted.

I hope they bring in a third man yo share in the insanity though, would love to hear Jeff relive the madness that is MGS4.

I don't want Jeff anywhere near that feature. He'd be a kill-joy. Maybe for certain parts of MGS2 and 4, but that's it. I don't want his cynicism to dilute Dan's gleeful excitement at witnessing Drew discover Metal Gear for himself.

Portable Ops is actually...

It wasn't written by Kojima, Kojima promptly ignored literally everything about it in Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes (the only reference to it is a line at the beginning of Peace Walker where a character who wasn't even in Portable Ops says "well good thing we're finally leaving all THAT crap behind!"), there's a lot of aspects of Peace Walker's plot that don't gel at all with what happens in Portable Ops, and in Ground Zeroes there's a part in the fanservice mission where you can find the logos of practically every Metal Gear game (even mobile ones) hidden around, and Portable Ops gets the same "Huh, I don't recognize this one" response as the rest of the non-canon/non-Kojima games.

However, whenever anyone asks Kojima about it, he gives a very polite and diplomatic "well yes it's canon" response because the game was advertised as THE FIRST REAL PORTABLE MGS THE MISSING LINK BETWEEN MGS3 AND MG1!!!!!!! and it'd be kind of embarrassing to say "no actually some B-team wrote officially sanctioned fanfic that I don't care about"

Well, you're in luck, Jeff doesn't really appear in a lot of game-related Premium content apart from UPF. Something I noticed only recently.

Too busy dual wielding his business guns.

"Metal Gear...something something?"

hmmm i wonder how they are gonna go about it in regards to the order (story or game release).

plus which games? i assume it will be MGS1 - 5: Ground Zeroes and Peace Walker while ignoring the MG games ?

If they decide to play the entire series, the only order that is acceptable is the one in which the games were released. That is how you consume any type of content.

I would not want them to bother with Portable Ops or even Peace Walker. Portable Ops is bad while PW is mediocre. Neither satisfy the standards a Metal Gear game should attain. Rising is cool though. Drew needs to get to that last boss fight, son.

I don't think they will make it past MGS1, but if they did then MGS2 could be hilarious as they sit through the hour long (felt like that anyway) cut scene at the end and also I never finished MGS3 so it would be great if they do it for me :D

I mean really the only thing that's important about it is all the microfilm stuff that happened offscreen and then Big Boss essentially winning control of Foxhound in a fight.

Oh god, I'm imagining these moments now.

This needs to happen the moment Dan gets back from WWF.

game release makes sense but then Dan will have to really keep his mouth shut then :p

also your gonna need PW for the Ground Zeroes stuff so i don't think they can ignore it (unless dan just explains everything).

forgot about Rising but yea that should be the cherry on top after all is said and done (did Dan even play Rising i wonder?).

this is gonna be a long one and i hope Drew will have enough motivation to power on through

Yeah but not even that stuff is actually important

MGS3's ending timeline already says that Big Boss founds FOX-HOUND in 197whatever and that's all that matters, and PW starts out with Big Boss and MSF penniless and needing recruits and money so uh good job with that microfilm I guess, and then MGSV has all of THAT get started over with Diamond Dogs and apparently that'll take time and effort so PoOps contributed all of jack and shit

A full MGS playthrough would take them at least a year, wouldn't it? I'd be content just with 1. It's where the series peaked, anyways.

I think Portable Ops might be the first game where you find out Zero is behind The Patriots, so it has that small thing at least.

That's true, Jeff doesn't really do any other premium content aside from the occasional Jartime. But it seems like most of other premium content is based around games he kinda hates, so it might be for the better.

Is portable ops/acid cannon?
Kojima considers this a difficult question to answer. While he did produce the game, he didn’t write the story himself, so some of the details are a bit off. The main storyline is part of the official timeline, but some of the details are not. He makes a distinction between games he only produced and games he wrote and directed as well.

Mostly canon. Not sure about acid.

spends more time with portables I guess

I did spend a lot of time with my PSP :)

MGS - Tried copy from PS2 collection, got an hour or two in, PS1 memory card broke, never bothered to get another. I'll try the PC version later this year
MGS2 - Demo with ZOE, didn't start since I didn't play enough of 1
MGS3 - A few hours in before PS2 busted
MGS4 - I'll find a copy after I get through the HD collection

Arguing about Metal Gear canon seems like a futile task. What is or isnt canon is already pretty fluid and down to what dumb shit Kojima wants to do for the next game.

Other then the Frank Yeager stuff I dont think a lot happened in PO that would really cause much of a fuss anyway. BB is captured by some guy. Escapes. Turns some solders to his cause and with there help beat the big bad guy. Big Boss now has a small army at his disposal. THE END.

And Ac!d was great. Those games didnt get enough love. Would be perfect on mobile if they ever wanted a quick cash grab. They should be on PSN as well.

I don't have the energy to do anything tonight so I"m watching the Blade Runner Random PC Game for the first time. A shame it apparently never got finished.

I never tried a MGS game til 4. I'm not sure if I bought the full game or the demo. I didn't like the controls and I was too much of a perfectionist in the brief time I played.

That's one thing that's difficult about stealth games for me, I try way too hard at being completely stealthy. If get noticed by anyone, I have to restart. I have to stop doing that, but I feel like I'm playing the game wrong if I stop.

As someone who has never played MGS, and knows nothing about the story, I would love to see a Dan and Drew ER of the series. It would let me catch up on the story before Phantom Pain and be entertained by Dan and Drew all in one video series.

The MGS series is my favorite. I'm really looking forward to seeing this new content, and how Drew reacts to Kojima's mindfuckery.

It shall be very entertaining. ^^

now i know how some of those people at the beginning of the persona er felt

please this series is so good

experience it for yourself first

Given his history with Tyson, my premium feature demand is a monthly (weekly?) filmed visit from Dan to Soda Poppinski's to try to finish Tyson once and for all. The idea of literally popping bottles over beating Tyson is too good to pass up.

Dan, Jason, Alex, and Giancarlo were treated to a hell of a show tonight. Summerslam was great.

Aside from the Stephanie/Brie match, which was awful. But I think they got what they wanted out of it.

I was thinking if they do another Big Live Show they could have Dan trying to beat Tyson like Brad did with Mile High Club.

I finished Metal Gear Solid 5 in one sitting on the day of release (stopping once to eat some dinner). My brain was fucking fired after that, and looking back now I do not remember one thing about the game other than the playable closing sequence. I had to stand up to stop from falling asleep during the final bunch of cutscenes. I collapsed on a sofa after the whole thing was done, and woke up 4 hours later with a cramp in my leg, having no clue where I was.

Fuck this series.

What would it be called? Breaking Brad was an easy name to make up. Disco Dan Dance Off? Dan's Meat Raffle? The Jose Canseco Challenge?
