Well, from the front of the head. Either that or Michael Brown was falling forward as the last shot hit.

I don't know what other scenarios are possible.

Okay. Yeah. I think it would have been smarter to allow the actual report to make that inference.

WTF are these officers stupid? They are allowed to film!

No, that can't be. Privacy cannot be "non-existent" when the police are involved. I think most would argue that's when it needs to be existent more than ever.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Police need to have video Cameras on them for themselves and us.

Had this officer had a damned camera, there wouldn't even be a question of what happened.

My main concern with cops getting cameras would be how often they'd end up off in the thick of it. "Suspect took it out to eliminate evidence," etc.

Again, if you do it, you'd need to have a system that penalizes officers for having the cameras off. Without that, you can be sure bad cops will just turn the cameras off. We've seen this is action with lapel cameras.

I get what he's saying. I've seen and like the way you sling that hammer, but I feel a lot of subtle and not so subtle racism kind of gets overlooked on here. I know there are only so many mods but it's frustrating to see.

If you see something that you think is thinly veiled racism, PM a mod. This thread moves really fast, so they're bound to miss stuff. Choosing to argue with them in here only leads to more bans.

90% of the stuff they're mentioning during the press briefing, many people seemed to have never seen. Just like last night, they're not acting based on the curfew or protest or anything of the sorts, give me a fucking break.

Briefing said there were molotovs thrown, which prompted the tear gassing. I haven't heard of it beforehand, but I only started paying attention just over an hour ago.

The family requested a private autopsy and the results were released today, All the shots were from the front. He was shot 6 times, 4 times in the R arm and twice in the head.

Shot him 6 times? The fuck? Lock this guy up for life, straight up murdered an unarmed kid.

Amazing how the police stick to the Molotov line even as its proven there were none. What a coincidence just as report is released the cops open up on crowds to disperse

I think most would or should argue that there should be video evidence of all police dealings with the public because if there isnt the police are extremely good at fucking over civilians and protecting their own. I think the bigger danger to democracy and society in this instance isnt privacy, but institutional power and its desire to protect itself and its members over such things as justice and rights.

You want to stop the violence? Easy. Arrest the shooter like you would anyone else. Doesn't matter if he's released on bail or only in for a few days. That stops the violence. Stop being so damn stupid about this.

Crazy isn't it? With all the reporters out there and with at least five live streams, but nobody recorded any footage of molotovs and nobody has claimed to see any molotovs thrown.

Make them wear 2 cameras problem solved

The more startling fact about the counties that mandated that their officers always record everything, if I remember correctly, is that the number of complaints decreased mostly because the suspects knew there would be video evidence contradicting their claims. Theoretically it would be a system that would help police most of the time, but I don't see departments being willing to implement it without being forced to.

I am amazed they're still pushing the Molotov line. And equally surprised that they're not getting called out on it by b journalists that have footage that shows none. They should be saying "I wanna see the receipts"

Alice throwin that question.

Briefing said there were molotovs thrown, which prompted the tear gassing. I haven't heard of it beforehand, but I only started paying attention just over an hour ago.

There were 4 different people from the media at the front of the line. One of them having footage from the time the protest started till the time the police truck rolled up and tear gas started being thrown and they all stated that there were no molotovs thrown.

"The press" is a medium not a protected class. Everyone has freedom of the press.

Seriously THIS.

The press comes from printing press; it was important they had freedoms as they were the only means of mass communication.

This has changed now;everyone needs those protections and freedoms. Making it about one medium creates a single group who hold the power;it's disadvantageous.

I've been watching multiple streams all night, and didn't see one molotov. I also heard a ton of press people talking to each other, all of them, including ones on the front line, saying this wasn't true.

I have a lot of respect for the police, but this is bullshit.

Chris Hayes is on msnbc right now reiterating that he and people he spoke to did not seen the referred molotovs thrown, and that it will probably be the flashpoint of debate tomorrow (other than the autopsy results). I may have misheard though, it was pretty quick.
