Holder Criticizes 'Selective' Leaks In Ferguson Shooting Investigation

Attorney General Eric Holder was critical on Monday of "the selective release of sensitive information" from the local investigation of the Ferguson, Mo. police shooting of Michael Brown.

"The selective release of sensitive information that we have seen in this case so far is troubling to me," Holder said in a statement.

Local police have been criticized for releasing certain pieces of information following the Aug. 9 shooting of 18-year-old Brown by a Ferguson police officer. The Justice Department reportedly opposed the release of the police report on a robbery that Brown allegedly committed minutes before he was shot. The Brown family accused the police of "character assassination."

On Monday, an anonymous source leaked to the Washington Post that Brown had marijuana in his system at the time of his death.

“I realize there is tremendous interest in the facts of the incident that led to Michael Brown’s death, but I ask for the public’s patience as we conduct this investigation," Holder said. "No matter how others pursue their own separate inquiries, the Justice Department is resolved to preserve the integrity of its investigation. This is a critical step in restoring trust between law enforcement and the community, not just in Ferguson, but beyond."

Holder also said that the Justice Department was performing its own autopsy Monday, conducted by "one of the most experienced medical examiners in the United States military." Holder also confirmed that he would travel to Ferguson Wednesday.

THREE? I stated it plainly from the beginning, including a follow-up article on diversity, and you jumped to strawman assumptions about why "hiring any old black person lying around" is bad.

It's not my problem that you're lazy (or willfully ignorant) and need it explained to you in painful detail why some thoughtful diversity among the all-white leadership of a majority black town with racial problems is really, really important.

Did you go to their website and read to see what they do? Are they involved with race relations?

Question got buried during the Obama speech, but won't it be really easy to prove if Brown was running or standing still when shot? I know there were no shots in the back, but I am fully behind the theory that the first shots missed as he was running and turned around when the shots started. But won't blood splatter patterns support or disprove the cops or witnesses version?

Other than the bullet going through eye/jaw/clavicle, the other three never exited his body.

Plus it's a wide open area, nothing for the blood to really leave a mark on.*

*this may or may not be based on my extensive dexter watching.

What needs to be released is the initial xrays of the body showing were the bullets were recovered from inside the body, that'll give you trajectory.

People need to stand up for themselves.

They just said on KSDK the protest is moving to STL downtown. Thst could get interesting.

The funny thing is people thought NG being activated was a good thing. It's already showing today is a "don't give a fuck" approach. It's only going to get worse. I don't see any of this ending well. Definitely a turning point potentially coming.

Police are forcing people to move while protesting. You can't stand still and protest. Stoping people from gathering together. What is this fucking bullshit.

They don't have the fucking right to force people to do this.

Most popular guy in Ferguson right now.

So what's the latest since last night? I read Obama's comments today. I like what he had to say, extending the killing of Mike Brown to a wider and deeper social and policing issue. I suppose sending Holder to oversea the investigation is good as well.

Have there been any more news besides this and the national guard?

Just finished up our last network de install. Wasn't that bad really, we have an ATM that's about a quarter mile off West Florrisant, so we saw some protesters walking the streets heading that direction.

Most of them are also wearing an extra shirt around their waist to protect from the inevitable tear gas that will be heading their direction.

It's like forcing your kid to tire themself out for a moment knowing they will sleep or be very docile soon ofter. They are sapping the protestor's endurance. Tactical move and they are seemingly able to enforce this. They sure have the manpower to do so. Wo will question them?

Don't know if this was posted.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/18/us/missouri-teen-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

"The Ferguson, Missouri, police officer who killed Michael Brown says the teenager rushed at him full speed in the moments before the shooting, according to an account phoned in to a radio station and confirmed by a source with detailed knowledge of the investigation."

"According to the account on St. Louis radio station KFTK, phoned in by a woman who identified herself as "Josie," the altercation began after Officer Darren Wilson rolled down his window to tell Brown and a friend to stop walking in the street.
When Wilson tried to get out of his cruiser, Brown first tried to push the officer back into the car, then punched him in the face and grabbed for his gun before breaking free after the gun went off once, the caller said."

"Wilson pursued Brown and his friend, ordering them to freeze, according to the account. When they turned around, Brown began taunting Wilson, saying he would not arrest them, then ran at the officer at full speed, the caller said.
Wilson then began shooting. The final shot was to Brown's forehead, and the teenager fell two or three feet in front of Wilson, said the caller, who identified herself as the officer's friend."

"A source with detailed knowledge of the investigation later told CNN the caller's account is "accurate," in that it matches what Wilson has told investigators."
