"The Ferguson, Missouri, police officer who killed Michael Brown says the teenager rushed at him full speed in the moments before the shooting, according to an account phoned in to a radio station and confirmed by a source with detailed knowledge of the investigation."

"According to the account on St. Louis radio station KFTK, phoned in by a woman who identified herself as "Josie," the altercation began after Officer Darren Wilson rolled down his window to tell Brown and a friend to stop walking in the street.
When Wilson tried to get out of his cruiser, Brown first tried to push the officer back into the car, then punched him in the face and grabbed for his gun before breaking free after the gun went off once, the caller said."

"Wilson pursued Brown and his friend, ordering them to freeze, according to the account. When they turned around, Brown began taunting Wilson, saying he would not arrest them, then ran at the officer at full speed, the caller said.
Wilson then began shooting. The final shot was to Brown's forehead, and the teenager fell two or three feet in front of Wilson, said the caller, who identified herself as the officer's friend."

"A source with detailed knowledge of the investigation later told CNN the caller's account is "accurate," in that it matches what Wilson has told investigators."

Ahh, the "He's coming right at me!" defense

This would make perfect sense if the cop didn't FLEE THE SCENE. As such, I'm gonna call 100% bullshit.

Who would charge at a cop? that makes no sense. And wouldnt brown show signs of punching the cop?

Yeah one of things you should not do is mess with the press.

Been working for them so far.

That's just Wilson's account without Wilson or the Ferguson PD coming forward to give it.

So someone calls into the radio station, says a fake name, then goes to tell a story that anyone could make up with no hard evidence?

I'm calling in now. I just saw bigfoot.

Amnesty International has come to Ferguson

In an unusual move, the global rights organization Amnesty International has dispatched a delegation of observers and organizers to Ferguson, Mo., to provide direct support to community members and to observe the police response to protests. The 13-person delegation, which arrived late last week, was the first of its kind deployed by Amnesty within the United States, the organization said.

The St. Louis suburb has been filled with unrest since since Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was shot and killed on Aug. 9 by Darren Wilson, a white police officer. That unrest intensified once again on Sunday, with reports of gunshots prompting law enforcement officials to respond with tear gas.

Overnight, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) announced that he’ll send the National Guard into Ferguson.

Amnesty decided to send a delegation to the city last week — a day after Amnesty International USA’s Executive Director Steven Hawkins sent a letter to law enforcement officials there expressing “deep concern” about Brown’s death and the way in which the police responded to protesters in the following days.

We all want to know what happened, and it may end up being that the shooting was justified, but there is literally no reason to believe this non-eyewitness account. The caller was not present at the scene. In fact it's just a preview of the defense's argument if charges are brought.

So just to make sure I understand everything.

He went for the gun, then ran away, then turned around and charged.

And the reason he didn't file a report was because…?

I'm calling in now. I just saw bigfoot.

For a lot of people, it carries more weight than 4 black eye witnesses.

CNN says they verified the story with someone close to the investigation.

Guy on CNN just said no one should comment on that journalist being arrested because he may have lost his temper or something and deserved it. WHAT THE FUCK?

Is this real? Is he a plant by some racist baby-boomer or something?

What? The cop left the scene? I haven't heard that anywhere. I heard it took a long time to process the scene for evidence, but I didn't hear that the officer left.

Well now you have me second-guessing myself. I was under the impression he not only took off but also didn't file a report.

Unfortunately this is real.... I know some people who don't believe the EYEWITNESSES because they "already hate cops and would say anything to get cops in trouble".....

CNN says they verified the story with someone close to the investigation.

CNN only verified that the caller's account matches what Wilson told investigators, not what the evidence shows or what real eye witnesses reported first hand to investigators or posted online at the time of the actual shooting.

Obviously it would match what Wilson said since he told her.

Accurate to Wilson because that is what Wilson told said friend. She wouldn't know otherwise.

Exactly. Why did this take so long to come out. Did it take the police officer that long to make up this bullshit? Otherwise it should have been broadcasted day 1

Its really bizarre how there were so many journalists covering the protests last night and yet there's no video footage supporting the PD's claim that there were a bunch of molotovs being thrown at the police line.
You know what could provide footage of the alleged Molotovs and whatever fantastical line of BS I'm hearing Wilson is cooking up?

Wearable cameras on the police.

Did you go to their website and read to see what they do? Are they involved with race relations?

Yes, I did. They seem to have no (or almost no) experience in this area from what I saw. What point are you trying to corner me into now that I've proven this (diversity) is actually important?

Here's a firm that actually does (not in St. Louis but point still stands). One like this, which I'm certain exist in Missouri, would be better equipped in dealing with the problems in Ferguson especially if they have a diverse staff.

You notice all those words after "unless"? That gives them a lot of leeway to still arrest journalists without violating this agreement.

I think it's because the town is like 70% black. It's kind of weird to have an all white PR firm try to represent a town that's almost all black. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it does show major disconnect. I doubt any of them actually live in Ferguson either.

i get proper representation, but representation shouldn't be about filling seats with familiar faces based on percentages of the population . i think people are getting too race baited into this whole situation.
