Wow, either Antonio French is being really well insulated from events tonight, or someone got to him. He's done a complete 180 on his coverage.

I have a friend there. She said he's on the side of the cops now. Pretty fucked up after they threw him in jail earlier this week.

simply asking someone about why they're in a bush or - not making a situation where people feel like they need to hide in a bush should be their job. that's what i was trying to get at. instead they treat every single goddamn person like a threat.

Because, in their mind, they are ALL threats--enemy combatants. The police are an occupying "military" in Fallujah Ferguson.

It is getting easier and easier for the police to control the narrative which in turn changes people like French's perspective.

The Police are starting to keep people so far back from everything that unless you are willing to take chances your perspective is going to get influenced by the distance and what you are told rather than what you see.

Fox had 2 crews on the ground. One was so far back even while shit was hitting the fan it was like he was in fantasy land on how quiet and peaceful everything was. Everyone had left. He's the type who the Police will come up to and list a whole bunch of things that may or may not have happened and will then buy into it and report it

Tear gas is still considered chemical warfare, but yes one is more extreme than the other. Tear gas is even banned in international warfare. Some won't get better from constant tear gas attacks because it's eroding the mucus in their lungs. Some may even start going blind or start developing severe nerve damage. The smoke screens do the same. They can also cause burns with how hot they are and if hit can also cause serious injury.

The motives are different, yes. But I still view the situations as horrible and disgusting.

What I'm wondering is where are all those freedom dudes that open carry protest and resist any sort of gun regulation because they are afraid the police/government will take over are?

Considering the average person described above, I imagine they are on the cops side right? Which makes them fucking hypocrites.

I'm definitely pro-gun-rights and very wary of gun regulation and anything that further empowers the government over its citizens.

You've seen me plenty in this thread. I've never been on the cops side. What they are doing is abhorrent. I worry that there will never be justice in this case.

I'm not sure what you want, though. Do you want some open carry dudes to go in there and start firing at police? What's your goal?

They're waiting to hear what the police stance is regarding grazing rights in Ferguson before getting involved.

Considering how the police are treating unarmed peaceful protestors in Ferguson right now, I would be afraid of a police/government takeover too. Free speech zones? 4pm curfew? No media coverage please? Fuck outta here with that shit.

Unfortunately the infamous bank robbery in North Hollywood California forever changed law enforcement where they were massively out gunned. Thus they had to equip for potential further events.

I'm sorry, but I take a middle of the road approach with racism until proven, and in the cases where it does happen, it comes from all races. Not just in law enforcement, but everywhere it can happen. Racism sucks, but apparently some people haven't evolved beyond that point in our society.

There are officers of other skin colors out there you know too, and they would be doing the same thing. And in the face of situation of how the State Police were handling things, they're following orders from their Captain, who isn't white.

And like that lady said in that VICE video, there's good and bad cops. That's like that for people of every profession.

Get out of here dude. What on earth do you think people are so upset about? Are you a minority? Have you ever spoken about this issue to minorities? Do you have any idea what you are talking about or are you making up some narrative formed in your own head? Racism is institutionalized in America. The very least American whites can do is can attempt to understand the suffering minorities faced in society. The image of a police force armed with semiautomatic rifles that is majority white aiming at a group of peaceful protestors who is majority black is a very powerful image! If you cannot see that then please retreat to your sheltered life instead of trying to pretend like minorities do not disproportionately face misconduct on behalf of police. Ignoring the fact that this stems from racial issues is probably the most obviously oblivious racist thing that you can do. The decline in obvert racism has gave way to this "colorblind" mentality that ignores racial injustices.

Think I'm done voting. This country can fuck itself.

Yup, this country is beyond disappointing.

But remember, just because you don't take an interest in politics, doesn't mean that politics won't take an interest in you.

Its like signing your life away, because you know that politics sweats you something fierce.
