Have the police been asked to justify their response to a single bottle being thrown?

Weren't riot shields invented fro a reason?

When objects are thrown, you use them to bounce the objects away. Especially when we're talking about a single object

I understand if 20 bottles are thrown, going in, but why is the line drawn at one?

I cant find it but I know theres a gif of a police officer in Europe using their shield to deflect a bunch of bottles. Guess what, he wasnt hurt, its a fucking shield.

.

In my post above I talked about a situation where people got unruly. Theres a video of that same event on youtube somewhere showing that an object was thrown at the police but the police didn't show aggressive force.

Police brutality is so rampant, here in the states. Especially against minorities. I'm so sick of it.

In Germany, a country of 80 million people, the entire police force fired roughly a total of 30 bullets during 2012 More shots than that were fired during a single traffic stop in Miami that year.

I stand corrected. Still tho, moral of the story is: you shouldn't be shot dead over a $3 theft, period. It's...$3..

I don't believe anyone has claimed so. It is a just a case of people being more inclined to believe a person who committed robbery also did something aggressive when he was shot, because normal people don't act in such manner. This is definitely the reason why they released the footage, it is an effective way to frame the discussion.

I'm fine for people having their opinions but all this support makes it seem like the cop shot the Joker or something. Killing an unarmed 18 y/o seems like something many people shouldn't be so fervently rallying behind.

thats what I found so disgusting about the Trayvon stuff. Lots of white people were all mad about black people "making it a race issue" and then others were simply glorifying Zimmerman as if he had rid the world of a nuisance, they didnt view him as a young man, a human being and over what? for what?

RE: the autopsy

since there seems some confusion.

Mike was shot 6 times. He had entry wounds in his arm and head. The last 2 shots were to the head, the very last, and only one that was absolutely fatal, entering above his brow line exiting his chin and reentering near his collarbone.

The entry wounds on the arm do not rule out the possibility he was shot from behind and most likely rule out any struggle for the firearm due to lack of residue on his body but we'll know for certain once his clothing is examined.

Can you point me to a source where the shot to the eye was the last shot?

From the press briefing of the family autopsy, they say the last two shots were likely to the head, but they didn't say they could specify the order of those two shots.

EDIT: The questions being answered in the video was "Could they specify the order of the shots ( all 6 ). So the answer you are hearing is discussing the order of all 6 shots.

The veil is so thin it's practically not there.

What are these fools even celebrating? People getting murdered on neighborhood streets in broad daylight?

The murderer fled the scene.
Journalists getting arrested/assaulted.
Tear Gasing children.
Aiming sniper rifles at people protesting during the day.
Beating a man half to death, then turn and charge him for property damage after finding out its the wrong man.

Etc..etc...etc..

I doubt they know any of this. And are just protesting that black people are upset at white people. But thats hardly what the real situation is.

Sadly, ethnicity plays a part. Whats one less black male?

Jesus.

There have been, and a lot of them have been uncalled for, yes.

$48.

Still not enough for the shop itself to feel the need to get the cops involved, but again, just trying to be accurate.

From the released autopsy.

One of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown’s skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury, according to Dr. Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical examiner for the City of New York, who flew to Missouri on Sunday at the family’s request to conduct the separate autopsy. It was likely the last of bullets to hit him, he said.

Well there are people who considered Zimmerman a hero for killing a kid that didn't even commit a crime, so...

See:

Honestly, the robbery is so damn incidental to the shooting that it isn't worth discussing. However, you have people on both sides of the argument that keep bringing it up. On the one hand you have people who insist upon arguing that he never committed a crime, while on the other hand you have people who want to crucify him and use the fact that he allegedly committed a robbery minutes before his death as some sort of wink and nudge justification for his death. Let's just accept that it appears as if Michael Brown robbed a store for some cigarillos and agree that it was entirely irrelevant to the fact that he was shot by Officer Wilson.
I can agree with this.

Victim is dead. news on the scene.
Damn. But given it's been escalating everyday , it was bound to happen. Surprised it happened during the day tho.

While we're striving for accuracy lets remember that:

(1) Michael Brown was never convicted of strong-arm robbery.

(2) He was gunned down in the middle of the street before that could happen.

If the victim wasn't stealing and roughing up a store clerk before his conflict with the police, that would would carry a bit more weight. You have to have at least a little respect for police, you can't just do whatever you want and treat them like shit. At that age, there has to be at least some basic human understanding of how society works and how you fit into it.

Well, outside of america, like in Gemany.. police are able to deal with violence without shooting things. Not so much in america, especially when you're brown.

Heaven forbid people take a little personal responsibility. Know how the knife wielding guy could've avoided being shot and killed? Putting the knife down. Mind blowing concept.

Another person shot that IMO didn't have to be. He has a knife sure. But why can't they use batons or tasers. Why is it always shoot to kill?

Edit: Apparently officer safety is the most important and they have a right to defend themselves. Wow.

Why in the hell would you risk being severely, injured with a knife engaging in medieval combat with a baton. And god help you if you miss with one of the taser prongs (they are single shot )
