#TeamReal because why not. Real or fake, I just wanna see how it all pans out.
Regular Toad can jump.
Captain Toad can't for inexplicable reasons. (Probably to suit the mechanics of his levels/game.)

I've been looking at this leak all day and I have to say I might just be on #TeamReal. A lot of the counterarguments seem a little weak to me; it's not absolutely inconcievable that they might relocate Yoshi on the select screen or change Jigglypuff's eye colour. I think people read way too much into patterns that aren't necessarily concrete. I remember everyone was sure Chrom would replace Ike just because Ike "replaced" Roy. Every game is different and Sakurai's thoughts change (Miis, VIllager). If this leak is fake, bravo my forger friends. Bravo.
I'm totally okay with this roster if it's real, I have to say. Dr. Mario is a neat, low-effort fanservice character that didn't need to be there so I appreciate him. Of course the biggest tragedy is the loss of Ice Climbers. Such a unique character... I would gladly trade Falco for Ice Climbers even if he is kind of iconic for the Smash scene.
Sakurai will still string us along. Can we at least be grateful that the leaker did not post this stuff on a Friday? Imagine waiting days for anything to be confirmed or debunked.
The most questionable thing for me is the ESRB tag. I've never heard of anything leaking via ESRB.Also another odd omission is the bottom screen the stage select where they'd need to show a larger render of the stage. They were keen to show off their character renders but not one of a new stage?
That's what we're going to have to do anyway. Sakurai's not going to comment on it; it will only be confirmed/debunked after the next character reveal. Can we at least be grateful that the leaker did not post this stuff on a Friday? Imagine waiting days for anything to be confirmed or debunked.
Ice Climbers will be (according to the leak) DLC, along with Lucas, Wolf, Snake, and Chorus Kids.
By the way, I forget, did we figure out that the stage screenshot was not posted by the leaker?
Are we absolutely sure the guy who said that is, in fact, the same guy who posted the screens?
To clarify, my friend worked for NoA as a Product tester. During the time he was employed, he made sure he didn't actually tell me anything important. The recolor details he shared because he and I are design nuts and just like talking about that sort of thing. I was surprised when he told me the info about the roster, because I did not ask him about it. He was struggling to remember all the characters and told me "It's hard trying to figure out who's missing. It's a pretty big cast".
Consider this stuff a "thanks for sticking up for me" even though you're basically risking your own neck in the event I'm some malicious guy just out to cause havoc. Hope this all helps you out with your info scanning and trying to find out if any of these "leaks" are actually true or not.
For what it's worth, I don't think my friend had the whole picture.
Shun theorizes that his friend did not know every detail, partly because of memory, and part because some things may have been missing or not presented clearly. Con0rrrr, who I shared this with because of our similar stances and non bias on the issue of leaks, came to a conclusion using this information, as well as Foul Mouth leaker. We guess that the remaining newcomers will be Shulk, Chorus Men, Dixie Kong, Dark Pit, Doctor Mario, Ridley, Mewtwo (yes I know he and Doc aren't newcomers persay), Bowser Jr and Duck Hunt Dog. We're split on the other hand on the issue of Lucas/IC/Wolf and frankly, could see it going either way. We also theorize that Zelda will get a newcomer as well, to go along with the trophy quiz theory.
Of interest is Foul Mouth/Gematsu/Ninka/Johnknight1's leaks have NO conflicting elements between them. Also last night this leak was posted

>Dixie
>Shulk
>Chorus Men
>Ridley
>Bowser Jr
>Mewtwo
>Duck Hunt Dog

It was a sign.
Sadly, I don't think they'd spend the time to model unique duck versions of every character...
Don't know if the question was asked already. But why are there level denotations on non CPU characters at all in this picture?

It's also a different font than with CPU characters.
Why dont the ESRB raters actually play the games they rate?
ESRB raters do not actually play the games during the rating process for a variety of reasons. First, many games have upwards of 50 hours of gameplay, so requiring a minimum of three raters to play through each of the more than 1,000 games rated annually by ESRB would be inefficient given the high degree of repetition in video games. Additionally, because games are player-controlled there are many different permutations of gameplay. In other words, one player of a particular game may see very different types of content than another depending on his or her actions or decisions in the course of playing. Consequently, engaging in gameplay as part of our rating process would offer no greater assurance that all pertinent content was considered in the assignment of a rating.
Finally, given the manufacturing and print advertising deadlines to which publishers are subject (which may fall 60-90 days before a game ships), games are typically submitted to ESRB for rating before they have been finalized or fully tested. As a consequence, games may be "buggy" or not fully functional, making it difficult, if not impossible, for a rater to play through the game.
ESRB staff play-tests a variety of games and apps after they are released - including games that generate consumer inquiries to ESRB and those that receive broad consumer exposure - to verify that the content disclosure provided to ESRB during the rating process was accurate and complete.
Kirby hasn't actually been selected yet. The cursor is hovering over him, and the player needs to press A, then the Ready to Fight banner will appear. Also, this explains the larger gap between the CPU text and the CPU's level for some reason, as we've seen in gameplay videos.I'm still confused as to why the ready to fight banner is missing. That and the contrast on Ganondorf's icon is awful. #teamfake
Amiibos have their own indicator, FP.Amiibos? Isn't they supposed to go to level 50?
Oh. That's plausible. I wouldn't look too much deeper into their motivations. People make imperfect judgments.Especially since no one in their right mind would want to say where they come from. The ESRB is a professional organisation so they'd not want to risk their reputation for a few Internet brownie points.
Obviously the leaker could just be pretending to be from the ESRB but why would they do that when people are actually using that fact against the leak?
I have a problem with this, too. Not to mention the game has been rated for over a month at this point. Someone from the ESRB is just now getting around to leaking what was on their DVD?
ESRB submissions are required to show off all data in the game, including unused or unfinished data that remains in the game's files.Amiibos have their own indicator, FP.
Also it would be rather impressive to show that off when figurines aren't final and they haven't even shown off the 3DS reader.

They would have to show Amiibos.
IF this is actually from an ESRB employee that would explain why there's no space between the top and bottom screen, actually. Maybe whoever took the pic did it from a regular video player that includes both.

Popular theory is Magicant from Earthbound.B. WTF is that pink stage?

Why would he pretend to be from the ESRB then? It just sounds like "I work for Namco", "I'm a beta tester", "I'm Sakurai's son" or any other random excuse. This was not unnoticed, its been discussed and brought up numerous times. The thought is that its from a video, especially considering the footage looks like its from a capture card.

I'm gonna say Lock Step from Rhythm Heaven. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrCTHodtzb4![]()
So under the assumption of it being for realz:
A. I kinda figured the GB stage was gonna be Kirby only & not a medley.
B. WTF is that pink stage?
Good point. The one in the image is a bit pinker than EB's.Mother 1, not EarthBound.
The duck hunt art is beautiful tho
These leaks needs some organisation since we have the 4chan stuff, the stuff from MrBadger and the SmashBoards guy. Of course there was murmurs of an organised fake leak which could explain the multiple sources.
Nintendo is gonna make me shell out extra money for Lucas. Fucking Nintendo has me by the balls.
