Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

People originally gave it "credibility" because the leaker leaked a few new alternate colors before they were shown.

It was two colors, the color that is Mario's new blue team color (I think it's blue team, anyway? It was in the E3 demo) and Bowser's new color from the same E3 build. The source remade these colors in Brawl (using BrawlBox) and had uploaded them to an imgur that dates before E3. There was a third color he made that hasn't been confirmed yet, which is basically a blue Bowser (not the old blue Bowser).

And then there's another person who came out about hearing from a friend that Duck Hunt Dog and Bowser Jr. were in. This person is Vaanrose, who actually lives in Redmond, WA (where NoA is). I forget the exact details Vaanrose said but the jist of it was just that he was told about Robin/Lucina (forget which one) before the trailer came out, along with Duck Hunt Dog and Bowser Jr. so he didn't believe what his friend told him until the Robin trailer came out. Of course, that doesn't lend any credibility to it (anyone could say that) just paraphrasing what he said.

Is it Mother 2 or 3 that is available on the eShop? And is it Lucas or Ness who is the protagonist in it?
Not sure about elsewhere, but in NA Mother 2 (Earthbound) is on the Wii U eShop. Ness is the protagonist.

(Lucas is the main character of Mother 3, which as far as I know isn't on any eShop.)

This is the jist of the leake from shashboard then:

Snake, Ice Climbers and Lucas being "cut" from the final roster lines up nicely with the fact that they're apparently DLC.

I'm real happy with all of this being true as long as I can get Lucas back somehow. Even if I have to pay for him.

Did I hear somewhere that the picture leaks aren't the whole roster as well, or is that just conjecture?

No Ridley or K. Rool is a bit disappointing, but I'm fine with it if we're getting Duck Hunt, Koopalings and the Doc.

So, the Stage Select may be a different source?

Sort of relieved if true...I'm team real for the characters, but the stage selection is just...disappointing.

Here's hoping we get some more pics tonight!

I think it's conjecture based on the fact that the order of the roster is really strange.

I feel pretty much the same way about it. Sad if Mewtwo didn't make it, or other newcomers. And really sad to see so many cuts (especially if they're for DLC)... but if Shulk's there, it's cool enough to be ok. I'm not the craziest about those characters, but at least there are a bunch of them.

I believe they said it was the whole thing. And Ridleys been deconfirmed for ages man.

Man, I can't wait for this leak to be proven fake or real. Either way, there will be meltdowns. To maximize the impact, I hope the reveal is Shulk related, so either he gets announced as an AT, or gets confirmed with the same render as the leak. There is absolutely no way either of those announcements would be generally well-received

I've always found it funny that Ice Climbers is always the casualty in these leaks because they know it'll get a rise out of people. I bet if that 3DS misunderstanding from long ago didn't happen, the Ice Climbers fate would never have been questioned.

What makes everything we are seeing dubious is that the Ninka/Vaanrose Leak is EXTREMELY popular on Smashboards. It is endorsed by moderators, it provides time-sensitive photo uploads as evidence, and basically has been the most talked about thing on that board since July 29th.

This very popular leak that is widely discussed and common knowledge within that major Smash community directly coincides with what we are now seeing. Yesterday's leak IS the Ninka/Vaanrose leak.

So this either validates them both or yesterday's leak is merely an extremely elaborate fake of the popular text leak to pull a fast one on Smashboards. And this would be a pretty incredible troll that would be very satisfying for the fake leaker.

So, whoever's been paying attention the most, what are the remaining "this is fake" things people haven't explained somehow yet?

The weird 'disablad' text, Little Mac screenshot potentially being used as a base for Shulk's 'photoshop' (this one is kind of flimsy but there's no way to disprove it), and the roster being laid out in an odd order? Is that all? Was there anything else?

Apparently the original leak said that may not have been all.

...Unless this guy made this by basing it off the text leak.

This whole deal is a pain in the ass because there's no way for us to conclusively provide any cause/effect.
But what about the alternate colors???

Anyway, I could see it going either way. The only compelling thing against these leaks is the ESRB thing which can easily be explained. Everything else that "proves" it to be fake comes from people desperately trying to give reasons why it can't be real.

As for render gate, yeah it's possible to make a good one. But to go through the effort of creating so many? I don't doubt someone would want to do that for the lulz, but to have the capabilities and patience for it is another thing.

Do not underestimate the tenacity and patience a smash fan wants to do to ruse the community

when did this come out? before or after the picture leak?

Wayyyyyy before. Somewhere mid-July/end of July. There's also another person who decided to lend what he heard from a friend as well, supposedly because he was told that Robin and/or Lucina was going to be in the game a whole month before the trailer came out (so that would pin Vaanrose's source's information sometime in June). But Vaanrose didn't come out with it until after the Robin/Lucina trailer and that wasn't the main reason he did, it was because Shun_one's friend Ninka_kiwi posted what Shun_one told him from his source (even though Shun said to Ninka to not post it anywhere lol).

So to sum up:

Ninka_kiwi posted the info JoeInky posted above sometime in mid-July in the big Smashboards leak thread in the social group despite Shun_one telling him not to post it anywhere. Shun_one is the one with the source for Shulk having the ability to switch his arts around or whatever, along with the lack of Lucas, Snake, and ICs specifically and was the first mention of Duck Hunt Dog and Bowser Jr. in his Clown Car (and Dark Pit and Dr. Mario as you already saw).

Along with the above, Shun_one's source remade three new colors he saw in the build prior to E3 using BrawlBox -- two colors for Bowser and one for Mario. The one color for Mario was the new blue color (or pink?) we saw in the E3 build and Bowser's new brown/green color in the same build. The color that hasn't been confirmed yet is an all-blue Bowser color (or something like that). These images of the Brawl texture mods were posted before E3 (the imgur upload date was a few days before E3 if I recall).

Then, after the Robin/Lucina trailer Vaanrose comes out because of the above being posted and matching up with what his source told him -- again, his source only told him about Robin and/or Lucina being in the game along with Duck Hunt Dog and Bowser Jr. (he was not told about how Bowser Jr. played, if I recall) back in sometime in June.

This is all a "he said she said" thing but I hope it makes sense lol. This is all from my memory of reading the stuff awhile ago and somewhat following it as it was happening.

The stages being a mess of new and old and a good chunk of series not even getting one new stage while some series get two or more.

Maybe they didn't want to spend a lot of effort on the 3DS stages so the WiiU version could have more.

Which would be a fair compromise.

Not really since Sakurai said the 3DS version would stand on its own as a full Smash package. It's not a supplement to the Wii U version.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case, they've got more single player stuff to model and animate on the 3DS version so I can definitely see the stage selection lacking.

The least convincing part of this for me is the DLC list. 5 characters, 4 of which are returning? That hardly feels DLC-worthy. Especially with Snake in there. The screens are pretty convincing but if someone claims to be the leaker and says they did both the screens AND the dlc info, it kinda invalidates the whole thing to me.

That's just "things people don't like" though, not any sort of actual evidence for or against the validity of the leak.

Previous games have made a point to separate the old and new stages. We know the Sakurais are rather proud of menu design. The idea they decided to just throw them all together in a lazy fashion goes against what we know.

You really can't take everything Sakurai says to heart, honestly. He's gone back on things he's said before in interviews or even just statements he's made in general.

I know it would be reaching to say that but we have numerous examples of him changing his mind about stuff, even within a year's span.

Edit: Or maybe what he considers a full Smash package isn't the same as what you and many other people tend to think is a full Smash package lol.
