Didn't he have some depth in Brawl? Enough to give him a pop from background colors, I thought at least. I was just making a comment. Not taking an outline side (which, that's a pretty silly fight to begin with) or trying to shit on the poster's pictures.

Again, yes, he initially was modeled in 3D, but that's his untouched model in the game files. The game flattens that model in every single stage he is in, making him 2D. Flat Zone does that to every character.

Now, did the officially announced 3DS model matched the 3DS model "leak"?
I'm asking this because even tho I'm wary about this roster's veracity, I wouldn't rule it out just because it looks "fake" from what I've seen in this and the previous thread, cons and pros about it being real are basically equal.

Sorry, can't see the 3DS version as anything but the "Smash Bros. Lite" version.

Just the fact that local multiplayer is much harder to do for me is enough to make it that in my eyes.

That and the fact that I'm going to drop it and never play it again (because smash to me is a multiplayer game, I'm not interested in the single player content) when the WiiU version releases makes it much less appealing to me.

So for you personally, it will be the lesser version. That's totally fair, and your reasons make sense. But that's a matter of personal preference, not a fact about the game itself. The way a lot of people have been talking (saying things like the 3DS "was always going to be the lesser of the two,") makes it sounds like the game itself is going to be lacking in content, when there's no evidence of that whatsoever.

It is, but it's called "Pac'N-Jump" for some reason... which is apparently the name of an iOS game released in 2011. I suppose the move could have been inspired by this Mappy level.

Apologies if I couldn't find all original posts/sources on my summary. I have limited time!

Things that make it seem believable:

1. Clone Corner - if a leaker wanted their leak to be believable, they'd have put lucina next to marth/robin, Dr mario near mario/luigi, and dark pit next to pit/palutena
2. The thicker black bar for kirby - actual behaviour from the game that pretty much nobody noticed. It'd be incredibly impressive for a leaker to add that knowing it was in the game.
3. Removal of names - E3 build had names under each character. A leaker would have probably left those in to make their leak believable.
4. Tomodachi stage - living room is nearly identical to the one in the famitsu scan
5. Highlighted stage actually increases in size, therefore overlaps w/ UI - known behavior of stage select.
6. The CSS isn't 100% full. Every other leak fills out the entire screen.

Things that cast doubt onto the leak:

1. Ness's shirt is not up to other smash standards! (maybe sakurai and team took some creative liberties?)
2. Falco's render is similar to other smash poses (Maybe it is! Why not? - also, his scanner is in a different position)
3. Dr Mario/Bowser Jr/Jiggly is similar to existing promo art (So are palutena, pac man, and lucina!)
4. Duck Hunt is a ridiculous name, it should be duck hunt dog, etc (It's ridiculous indeed... why would a leaker try to make his leak LESS believable though?)
5. Game and watch didnt have an outline in the pac man trailer (Game and watch was not confirmed or updated in that trailer, either)

Things that are 100% proof that it's Fake:

That's fewer stages than in Brawl period, fewer new stages than Melee introduced, and is easily the worst new to returning ratio of any Smash yet with big gaping holes in series representation--Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Metroid, Star Fox, Wario, Pikmin, Game & Watch, and Sonic represented solely through past stages (so possibly no new music for them at all either thanks to the 3DS version's limited music) while odd franchises like F-Zero and Earthbound get a new stage and Mario gets four (plus all of the music that comes with that) alongside a returning one.

Just... not good. If this is real and if the Wii U version is this bad in stage representation and numbers then the decision to split the stages between the versions was a very bad one.

EDIT: Also potentially means there are only three unrevealed new stages for the 3DS version.

One problem I have with some of the arguments is that the justification is "Of course that's a dumb name / of course that's silly, and someone making a fake leak would be smart, so of course they would not make a silly mistake, which means it's probably real!"

Basically it seems almost any actual MISTAKE someone made could be used as justification for why it's actually real, while simultaneously dismissing any arguments otherwise.

This room has not shown up in any previous screenshots of the stage.

Potential proof it's real. I would want to see something more substantial first though.

That could easily have been a last minute quick change to accommodate seeing how the leak was released only within the last days.

Maybe some stages haven't been unlocked yet? I'm not sure if Sakurai has said anything about having to unlock stages again. Brawl had like 10 or some stages that had to be unlocked right?

I think the main argument behind those statements is that a supposed minor mistake doesn't prove anything either way, not that it's proof that it's real. I've yet to see anything that definitely, concretely proves that this is fake. We'd need a major inconsistency, which we don't have.

I dunno, it seems weird that someone would go through that much effort to make all the fake renders and then do something weird like calling the character Duck Hunt instead of "Dog & Ducks" or put Dr. Mario away from the rest of the Mario cast.

Surely someone who went to that much effort would try to play it really safe with simple things like that?

EDIT: Also potentially means there are only three unrevealed new stages for the 3DS version.

I believe (and hope) that some of the link functionality between the 3DS and Wii U versions is bringing these stages over. In the past two games you could play on old stages that weren't on par with the visual fidelity of new stages, I don't see why not here.
