Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

A breakdown of the stages in the leak--24 new stages, 10 returning. That's fewer stages than in Brawl period, fewer new stages than Melee introduced, and is easily the worst new to returning ratio of any Smash yet with big gaping holes in series representation--Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Metroid, Star Fox, Wario, Pikmin, Game & Watch, and Sonic represented solely through past stages (so possibly no new music for them at all either thanks to the 3DS version's limited music) while odd franchises like F-Zero and Earthbound get a new stage and Mario gets four (plus all of the music that comes with that) alongside a returning one.

Just... not good. If this is real and if the Wii U version is this bad in stage representation and numbers then the decision to split the stages between the versions was a very bad one.

EDIT: Also potentially means there are only three unrevealed new stages for the 3DS version.

If we go by the leak, then the remaining stages in the Wii U version from series we've yet to see are:

-Donkey Kong
-Kirby
-Mother
-F-Zero
-Xenoblade
-WarioWare
-Yoshi
-Game & Watch
-Gyromite
-Duck Hunt

At the very least, I'd imagine Donkey Kong, Yoshi and probably WarioWare will get a new stage to compensate for their lack thereof in the 3DS. F-Zero, Game & Watch, and Mother are up in the air but I wouldn't be surprised if Gaur Plains was in the Wii U version was well. Gyromite and Duck Hunt will probably just be tied to a NES-flavored stage (as R.O.B. was for Mario Bros. in Brawl).

Lots of thanks! I can barely tell what they are from those shots, my eyes are getting bad (or I'm still sleepy lol).

Maybe some stages haven't been unlocked yet? I'm not sure if Sakurai has said anything about having to unlock stages again. Brawl had like 10 or some stages that had to be unlocked right?

It's reasonable to say that the leak doesn't show the all the stages, but how likely is it that neither DK nor Metroid nor Star Fox has a single new starter stage?

Excellent, if this is true, the Dr. Mario and Dark Pit thing seems kind of weird though, most people last minute things. Very well done roster. Duck Hunt Dog will be welcomed. One of my very first Nintendo games. Takamaru being sacrificed for this guy is great. Though I'm wondering why the hell there seems to be a bit of hostility towards the pup, yet when the Chorus Kids seemed likely no one batted an eye and were pulling out possible move sets, kind of likely a knee jerk reaction to justify him, similar to what happened with ROB. The signs of the times I guess, people creeping more towards completely losing whatever of their minds they have left...

What? How could I forget Smash 64?
Even in primitive modeling technology, they still got it consistent.
But... he's missing a blue/purple sleeve stripe.

(#teamfake anyway.)

P.S. Ness doesn't have that shirt pattern consistency ALL the time:

The first image has the shirt pattern and his game play model throughout maintains it.

Incidentally the 3 seconds of the FMV shows in motion that the shirt is visibly tucked in which makes that a detail that can easily be omitted if necessary, while the leak here doesn't have that excuse.

Yep, this is the worst part about the leak. Maybe they didn't unlock all the stages, I hope. Or, and I think it is worse even though it wouldn't affect me, you'll need the WiiU version to unlock other stages.

I'm still convinced after all this time that the 3DS version gimped the WiiU one.

At this point, I don't know how anyone can deny the leak as being real. You have to understand that the game is still made by human beings, so little teeny weeny "inaccuracies" like the stripes on a TShirt can be overlooked by the development team, especially if you go out specifically looking for little detail mishaps.

Most deniers are just butthurt Ridley/Dixie/Geno/Krystal fans.
I'm a butthurt Ridley fan.

I'm shocked that there is no Duck Hunt stage there. I would be so sure that if Dog get in then they would have Pond stage for both version like Boxing Arena.

The stage selection screen is the only reason I'm hoping this is fake. If it's the same case for the Wii U version I'll be very disappointed.

If they're gonna split content between the two they need to split the price as well.

GameFAQs is saying that because this new leak matches up with an earlier leak, we're getting Ridley, Mewtwo, & Dixie.

I don't really know what to think.

I want the leak to be fake so that Duck Hunt Dog discussion can end, would be the worst addition in Smash bros history, even worse then tripping

No Cranky, no buy.

You haven't even seen the character or how they would play, but sure. Worst addition is Smash Bros. history. Why not?

Y'all are so salty over Duck Hunt Dog laughing at you in your childhood.

Mewtwo, Dixie and Ridley are all totally fan-fueled speculation. I honestly don't see any of them making it in.

I'm thinking Guar Plains, Mute City, and Magicant will all be in the Wii U version as well as no way do any of those three franchises have a different new stage for both versions. Guar Plains especially because there is no corresponding past stage for the franchise. Mute City as well as the stage seems to be derived from a console game (F-Zero SNES). Magicant is also a console stage, but the original Mother was ported to the GBA, so there's some gray area there.

I really do hope the Wii U version is more fully featured when it comes to stage representation than the 3DS version (again, if this is all true). But the lack of a Kirby stage for the Wii U version plus the appearance of Halberd even after all three Kirby characters have been revealed is making me nervous. The graphics of the past stages don't cut it as well for the Wii U version and would make even poorer sole representations.

This stage list is really odd though, as we know there's going to be a Star Fox Assault stage of all things in the Wii U version, so we know Sakurai isn't averse to dipping into games that predate Brawl, so the lack of a new Metroid 3DS stage for instance is baffling. Heck, the 3DS Paper Mario stage has part of it taken from Paper Mario: TTYD when it absolutely didn't have to. It's just all very baffling.

obvious errors or stupid mistakes doens't make the leak more believable,it's the opposite

The thing is, if you spent all that time, and even created fake and legitmately good looking renders and mock ups, why would you mess up on the simple stuff?

Duck Hunt Dog would be hilarious. I don't know why people take the roster so seriously, there should always be some silly characters celebrating Nintendo's history.

Not even close.

DHD is better than Palutena, Lucina and Mii Fighters combined.

Maybe not Miis considering they actually represent a new series atleast, but the other two for sure.

You hate fun.

If there are DLC characters I wonder how much they would cost, and if they'd come with stages.

I took the liberty to edit it a little bit to show how similar these two pictures are. It's not perfect but it gives an indication on how similar these two pictures are. And for anyone saying that it could be a model re-use, hop off, that's bullshit. Each character has a production-quality model for Smash that they pose for character portraits. There are no re-used assets from other games.

My point about all of this is how a leaker has the potential take a picture and modify it heavily, tweaking the proportions so that it can be differentiated from other existing art. Especially this leaker, all he needed to do was a minor job because his low quality cell phone photos are able to mask any imperfections. As I was modifying this it was really suspicious as to how these two faces matched up so well with each other. The fact that their poses in both photos are hands-on-hip photos also raises some questions.

In this thread. Nobody knows what photoshop can do.

It's easy to overlook the simple stuff when your attention is focused elsewhere. It's not intentional.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Sakurai has referred to Smash for the 3DS as "Super Smash Bros 5", and Smash for the Wii U as "Super Smash Bros 6", implying that the Wii U version is something of a "successor" to the 3DS version.

I'm on #teamreal this time.

I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of Mewtwo
and superior Xenoblade characters
, and at the number of clones this time around, but I can live with that.

The stage count is definitely disappointing, though, especially with the 3DS version's two songs per stage. Hopefully the Wii U version has more stages :(
