An officer in Iraq more than likely could ;-)Explain to me how two officers could safely take down a crazed guy with a knife.

Can anybody point me to anything resembling legitimate information on this fractured eye (most likely) BS? I'm talking with someone who is convinced it is 100% true.
"Outgunned".
Hasn't that happened like... Twice in US police history? I'll try to dig up the article I read on it a few years back... They really drummed up the use of that phrase to justify their transformation into the force they are today.
A man with a knife could destroy this entire city if we don't do something. There is no other way than shooting him. In every other country in the world without armed police the officers would have just politely asked the guy to surrender as he stabbed them to death.
So, someone did film the shooting of Kajieme Powell (not graphic but is still a video of a man dieing, so be warned about that). That's the guy with the knife yelling "shoot me" killed yesterday.
It doesn't really line up with the police chief saying he "pulled out a knife and held it in an "overhand" position, above his shoulder", when the video shows his arms were completely at his side the entire time. They also said they opened fire when he was within 4 feet, when it was clearly more like 4 yards.
A lot of the media also used the word "charged" which also clearly isn't true, as it was a very slow walk, but I don't think that wording originated from the police.
The only times I can think of are the Prohibition-era Gangs which had the first automatic weapons which were eventually routed out thanks to RICO and undercover work by police all around the country, and the North Hollywood Shootout. The NHS was the driving force behind getting police departments high powered assault rifles and body armor. It was also an incredibly niche situation, and I think people overreacted to it.

CNN was saying crowds are smaller today.
Talk to him? I'm out. You guys are hopeless. Telling him to out the gun down is talking to him.

Looks like things are getting a bit hectic already out there, seems like a counter protestor showed up and provoked the crowd a bit, a man tried to take her sign away and was arrested. Some other incident seems to be occuring right now on CNN, can't tell what.
Yes, we are hopeless because we believe a knife in the hand doesn't require deadly force. What's wrong with your thought process that you see only one solution?Talk to him? I'm out. You guys are hopeless. Telling him to out the gun down is talking to him.

What about a Gunblade?Never bring a gun to a sword fight man. You will get all kinds of messed up.
Just a single lady it seems. Police making a small show of force now just to keep everyone moving, but we've seen how that usually ends up. Seems like it might stay calm so long as police don't get too aggressive with it.Counter protestors? Oh fucking lovely

Currently discussing the guy that was killed yesterday that had a knife. A video of the shooting emerged that contradicts what the police said and the guy was obviously sucidial.![]()

is it true the people causing problems are from out of town? I don't see how that makes any difference.

The officers should. Police are trained to protect, they are trained to help. If that man is on the edge then you talk first, you don't immediately unload your gun on him. They are not to shoot first and ask questions later.
If talking does not work then you call for back up. You can subdue the person through self defense training without causing serious injury. If that is not the option then you can taze the person and take them into custody for the protection of the citizens around him and the person them self.

Large chunk of arrests are out of towners. One guy arrested 3 times so far from Austin texas. Anarchists thrive on opportunities to push anarchy
He didn't have a gun, clown. Notice that several civilians were talking to him before the Judges showed up. Any of those people dead from stab wounds?
Someone posted numbers earlier but like 75% of the arrests came from the local area (not necessarily Ferguson).is it mostly just people from the state and surrounding towns? or is it literally people who drove many hours to be there?
I just don't see how that makes a difference. We're all in the United States and racism is everywhere.
I can't, I just can't... When did I say he had a gun? Jesus Christ where did you pull that out of your ass? And who said he hurt anyone?
Talk to him? I'm out. You guys are hopeless. Telling him to out the gun down is talking to him.
You have no Fucking clue what you are talking about. Call backup? What does that do? He was already closing his distance on the officers. Backup would mean more officers pointing guns.
You don't tase someone with a knife. This was already explained. You don't let a person with a knife get close to you, period.
What self defense training safely protects you from a knife? Police officers are not Judo warriors, this isn't the movies here. I don't quite think people realize how fast you can kill someone with a knife.
