Maybe in the next Metroid game there can be some Samus/Ridley hybrid they can put into Smash.

Holy fuck. That is so badass.

How about they just use those proportions and make a new ridley design. damn that looks dope.

You're missing the point. If Olimar was portrayed as being one centimeter tall in Melee then he suddenly appeared in Brawl as the same size as the other fighters, then yes, people would question it. Smash doesn't follow height conventions in the sense that each character has his or her own adaptation specifically designed for this franchise. Pikachu, for example, is only supposed to be 1'04" tall in the Pokémon franchise, but he's clearly much larger in Smash. Ridley is a huge monster in every game he's appeared in, INCLUDING Smash, so why on Earth would they change that? How would you feel if they suddenly downsized Bowser to make him the same size as Mario, knowing full well that it wouldn't make sense to drastically change the design of an established Smash character? Ridley is too an established character... just not a playable one.

He was only huge in Brawl, He was large in melee and a small background sprite in 64.

Also, despite the Other M design being awful, it's easily the most scalable version of the character so far and that's the one we're getting, whether it be playable or not.

Sakurai shouldn't be allowed to make claims about sm4sh being the number 1 character game if the most wanted fan character isn't in the game!

All the DLC rumors sound like bullshit though.

So many changes and conflicting rumors.

I don't believe anything out of anyone except for the pictures and video. It's clear that the 4chan dude is trying to string people along. He's a 4chan dude.

The most you can really do is hope for there to be 5 more characters to fill out those spots, DLC or not. Who they are? Who knows. But if you honestly believe that 5 highly-desired, pipe dream fan favorite characters are all conveniently the ones that aren't shown, then, well

Ridley being a space pirate commander would make so much more sense if he was something like this.

Ridley's back story never made any sense to me.

Space Pirate: Commander Ridley, there is a Federation assault on our weapons cargo frigate!
Ridley:GWAAAAAAAARGH
Space Pirate: Yes sir, right away.

Well the 3DS version looks fine but it looks like it should be able to handle the Ice Climbers. Rosalina & Luma are both independent from each other. Maybe it's just me though

Luma's AI is far below what Nana's is.

If Ice Climbers aren't in the game, I think it's pretty safe to say it's because of the 3DS version and the fact that Sakurai wants roster parity rather than just giving the WiiU version more characters.

Ridley's back story never made any sense to me.

Space Pirate: Commander Ridley, there is a Federation assault on our weapons cargo frigate!
Ridley:GWAAAAAAAARGH
Space Pirate: Yes sir, right away.

He has some machinery implanted into the base of his skull that lets him give out orders via telepathy.

There's languages in our very human species that sound like someone is just bellowing up their breakfast. I don't doubt that what sounds like screeches and roars to us might be words in Space Piratian. Like maybe instead of screaming at Samus to intimidate her, he's pleading for mercy.

Plus, he can talk anyway. And he's not dumb either.

We've never seen Ridley issuing commands. Just because he never tries to talk to Samus doesn't mean he can't speak a language.

Ridley can talk ya know... And is insanely smart

Everyone always says this, and they may have scribbled down this fact in a manual or some non-canon manga, but in the games he is a giant angry space dragon. I want a game series where you play as Ridley managing the space pirates. He has to discuss strategy, balance the budget, manage rations, talk to disgruntled pirates etc.

Don't know if posting Manga scans are allowed... but Ridley Tells Samus
"Heh, humans are always weak to the death of their own kind, Is she here? or here?! You don't know maybe I even ate your 'mama' so that my cells can live, hm?"

Clone more Metroids?

Clone more Metroids?

But how? Are there space pirate scientists? Most of them are foot soldier grunts. If there are scientists employed by the space pirates, you still have to give them ample funding to help their Metroid cloning research. What if another organization offers a better benefit package? How is Ridley going to compete with his non-stable income? He could capture them and force them to do it, but that would lower morale and have a negative affect on their research. To get more money, they would have to raid other people, but that takes planning, coordinating, time, money, and manpower. It is a huge logistical undertaking. We need a game filling in these gaps and showing us Ridley's efficient and productive management skills.

The Brawl theme is made by Nobuo Uematsu, it will be hard to get anything better than that!

<3
I could shoot off a score of composers I'd consider stronger than Uematsu.

Not to disparage him, since he's certainly one of the greats (although I wouldn't qualify Brawl's theme as a particularly notable work of his), but still.

Decent POTD. I hope the mode is more fun than last game.

Sad to see no more leaked stuff lol
I'm still a little mad about probable cuts :(

The theme in the Japanese commercial is kinda epic.

I still don't think it holds a candle to Brawl's though.

As much as the Brawl theme excited me in the pre-release days, looking back it comes off as overserious and ill-fitting for the game, as well as just really corny -- Latin chanting, really? Maybe I've just seen too much Lacrimosa over fight scenes and have developed a reflex against that or something. :P

The new theme, though, as somebody pointed out before sounds like something out of Monday Night Football, with fanfare to get you pumped up for an exciting match. Completely blows Brawl's out of the water in my opinion.

I'm not expecting it to happen, but if they show off a trailer with a newcomer we don't know about yet...

That would be pretty hype.

A Duck Hunt Dog or Shulk trailer with Ice Climbers or Wolf would make things interesting.

The Space Pirates we see actually issuing commands, like the Omega Pirate in Prime 1, just seem to roar inarticulately as well, so they seem to be able to understand it, at least.

Maybe Space Pirate society is different from what we, what can broadly be called western society, are used to? Different moral and social standards? Talking about benefit package or sources of stable income, we just as well may apply that to our very own Earthen pirates. Why don't they just move to America/Europe, right? Maybe Space Federation is racist. Maybe Space Pirates are used to that kind of life, ingrained form birth into that form of social structure. Maybe they simply have family on their beloved acid-ridden worlds that they don't want to leave behind in search of superior living standards.

Lower morale? We're talking about species which has no problem with experimenting on live organisms, infusing other members of their kind with dangerous biological weapons and operating on living beings (per Metroid Prime). That's a far cry from our society, which as of now is being more and more averse to experiments on any living beings, let alone other humans.

Or maybe it's just a sci-fi setting which we should not overanalyze and just accept that Ridley is for whatever reason a master tactician and brilliant scientist that led his kind on a path of conquest until chozo superweapon Samus Aran stood in his path. Their modus operandi is simply developing better weapons to improve their ability to conquer and destroy. Let's no get too deep into the rabbit hole, or next thing you know we're discussing intricacies of Mario lore.

A confirmation of any character not in the leak would make things interesting.

I said it before, but I really think that would be the best way to stay ahead of the story leading up to the game's release. Show the Ice Climbers, and watch everyone go berserk.

If there really is anything more to the final game, content-wise, I agree that some part of it should be shown immediately, even a single character or stage would help. Otherwise, it'll become clear there really is nothing left...
