Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

The roster will never be perfect for everyone, there will always be unhappy fans-and that's ok!

I have no problem with someone saying they were unhappy with the roster and discussing their reasoning, my problem lies with the people who are blinded by their emotions and act with ridiculous rage and hyperbole! These are truly the "entitled" gamers.

Out if curiosity--and I mean no malice--what franchises do you think soley need them that are Nintendo-owned? I only think of awesome third party characters like Pheonix Wright and Peofessir Layton :p
You don't think Metroid deserves more than two versions of the same character?

Donkey Kong should have more than 2 reps as well.

It loses a large amount of luster for me. You can be condescending all you want, but other people play the game for different reasons than you. Sorry your fragile opinion can't take other people not agreeing with it.

You know how much do I have to wait to see Banjo-Kazooie playable in Smash Bros.? Yeah.

If only a single character can break the game for you, it's probably because you don't really care about Nintendo's history as a whole. I would've like to see Ridley in too, well, he's not. There's Little Mac though. And Shulk. And fucking Duck Hunt Dog.

I've never said this, just that a lot of the newcomers are really shitty inclusions to me because they're too recent or just plain bland for my tastes.

The base characters and custom moves are enough for me, it's just that if the majority of newcomers disinterest me or custom moves don't get used in tournaments then it becomes a case of "I'd rather just play Project M instead"

I completely agree, mind you (I do think Dixie Kong is in the game honestly).
I also think that many of Brawl's and Sm4sh' newcomers should've been in the game since Melee, or even the original Smash64. That doesn't make their roster bad. Just incomplete.
Because, well, it will NEVER be complete.

I'm just trying to be objective here. Losing Mario or Link would make the game lose a lot of luster. I don't even play as them, ever.
Wolf was one of my mains in Brawl, I'm a huge StarFox fanboy. I even liked Adventures and Assault. I say that losing Wolf and gaining fucking Mega Man is a huge deal. Seriously guys you should get over losing one of the characters you like, it happens (also that's not even confirmed yet).

Who did you want? Seriously, out of all the 15 newcomers confirmed, not a single one pleases you? Why do you even care about Smash Bros.?

Dixie
Ridley
Ganondorf (Not as a clone)

I never said I didn't like any of the newcomers, but I would easily trade all 15 of them for one of the above three.

There's also the issue of them cutting some of my favs from Brawl (Wolf and Ice Climbers).

I care about Smash because I can play as some of my favorite Nintendo characters in a brawler/fighting game hybrid. Naturally I'd be disappointed if none of the characters I wanted added made it in.

I'm glad you didn't get your way then, at least on that last one. Ganondorf getting a new moveset was my greatest fear, right after Wario getting a new one. Everything's great!

In all seriousness, the one thing I don't really in regards to roster complaints is that the roster is shit without the presence of five rumored characters.

Like it takes just five more characters to reverse your opinion?

i'm glad i'm just too cool and have such impeccable taste that all my wanted characters are awesome beyond most human comprehension and thus i can't possibly expect them to appear in the super smash brothers tournament

aka i like weeaboo hipster bullshit and i know none of it will ever happen

I've never said this, just that a lot of the newcomers are really shitty inclusions to me because they're too recent or just plain bland for my tastes.

I get this. I always played Smash to see my favorite characters duke it out, and now that I'm getting older, my favorite characters are becoming the irrelevant ones that don't get added because they're too old.

I'm only 23, so the characters that I was playing when I was 5 or 10 are too new to be "retro", but aren't new enough to be considered "relevant".

Out of all the newcomers in Smash Bros.' history, these new ones are the best after the original. So diverse, both true retro stuff (Mega Man, Little Mac, Duck Hunt, Pac-Man) and very recent stuff (Wii Fit Trainer, Shulk, Robin) and something in between (Villager, Bowser Jr.). Also, I don't understand how a character's "recentness" makes it look bad. Almost all the major old characters are already in.

Wow, 15 characters out for just one? With that kind of attitude there's no way to please you man.

I wouldn't call the roster "shit," but whether it's true or not, the Ice Climbers' exclusion gives off the impression that the game is being held back by the 3DS, and that doesn't sit well with me.

Ganondorf just needs some attacks that actually feel like they represent the character. The chokeslam is the only special of his that does this, at least in my opinion.

Just a tiny correction, I'm a woman.

I would, with a very heavy heart indeed, trade Rosalina, Palutena, Lucina, Dark Pit and Miis for Ridley alone.

It would be a truly hard sacrifice to make, but sometimes these things just have to happen.

I'm also not saying the roster is shit without him either, but I would be lying if saying that his cut doesn't seriously put a damper on my personal excitement for the game. I do agree that on the whole this is the best batch of newcomers.

Why cant we all just get along?! :(

Because it'll upset the natural order if we did. So we don't. Put up your dukes!

And to the DLC "game":

Newcomers:
1. Ridley
2. Bayonetta
3. Wonder Red

Clones:
1. K. Rool (Bowser)
2. Black Shadow (Captain Falcon)
3. Roy (Marth)

Veterans:
1. Lucas
2. Snake
3. Ice Climbers (Sorry, Mewtwo)

Why is that surprising? If you aren't a fan of the already known newcomers, but the five rumored characters are ones you had been actively hoping would make it in...of course it would change your opinion.

I don't know about you but all I need is two or three characters I like to be added in each new game to be satisfied. I got that with Smash 4 (Mega Man and Robin) but some people didn't. And while I'm satisfied with those two making it in, it's still disappointing that I can't be as enthusiastic about the other 13 newcomers.

You'd need to sacrifice every character. Equivalent exchange. Basic alchemy...

Since we are more likely to get Duck Hunt Dog as playable character. It's our chance to discussing about their moveset before we find out their moveset.

Duck Hunt is interesting name for a characters. I would say that Duck Hunt would contain of three different characters, Imaginary Hunter (YOU), Dog and Duck.

Intro: Dog started to sniffing the ground and jump into battle with Duck

Taunt: Dog would chase after Duck in a loop
Taunt 2: Dog would take his time to laughing at opponents
Taunt 3: Duck probably flying around and making a noise.

Running attack: Dog probably would engaged in chasing after Duck
