The best would be final destination mode with platforms for all stages. Platforms patterns can be tied to each stage, or, i'd even settle with random platform patterns.
I'm not saying that final destination mode is perfect, either, just saying 'toggling stage hazards' isn't that much better, if better at all. It only makes a small handful of stages more competitive, whereas final destination mode, while making them all the same, converts more noncompetitive stages into competitive ones.
So basically a Battlefield mode alongside Final Destination mode?
It seems to me the best thing to do would be to put in a stage boss switch. Not a hazard switch, a boss switch. Ordinary hazards like Koume & Kotake or the stuff on Spirit Train would be there to stay, but really big, obtrusive bosses like the Yellow Devil could be shut off. That seems like a fair compromise to me.
