Why "LL"?
Because the Japanese call the 3DS XL "3DS LL". Same with the DSi, btw.
Why "LL"?
It's an upgrade to an existing system, that's all it's meant to be. They wanted to keep the form factor and shape and these come with space restrictions. The "stick" is probably like those mouse nubs on laptops and isn't meant to be used as a main input method, probably just for occasional camera adjustment for the few games that would benefit from it. I don't understand why people are so upset. If the 3DS didn't interest you previously, this update isn't meant to make you do a 180.
But with the faceplate system, you can import Japanese plates!
Region Free this time ???
True! Very true. But that blue LL looks ugly. But with the faceplate system, you can import Japanese plates!

It's Nintendo.
They'll be region-locked.

I want a white one so the customizable faceplates will look better!
Games come out that are exclusive to new versions of the iPhone or iPad and those devices cost a shitload more to upgrade. It's not that big of a deal IMO. You can always trade in your current system when this comes out for at least 1/3rd the price. $100 every few years isn't that bad.Erm WTF?
If there are going to be new3DS exclusive games I'm done with the handheld.
Hopefully somebody comes in to set the story straight.
While we are at it: I am the only who always changes the volume unintentionally whily playing? Is there an option to turn that switch off?
I can't believe almost all Neogaf community is loving this s**t.
Bad left analogue since day one, uncomfortable shoulder buttons and now a new right tiny analogue (so you need it Nintendo, right?) and a new shoulder button,.... and you look so happy. You look like Apple fanboys.(
3ds is a total mess and they are trying to fix it instead to rebuild it from scratch.

That second stick looks awkward.
That's no excuse for poor design. They could have added a usable second stick and not broken compatibility.
This thing looks like a bad fan mock up and an ergonomic nightmare.
I don't see it that way at all. I see it as a temporary fix which will hopefully be fully addressed with their next system, and I still think the 3DS has two years tops left in it.I can't believe almost all Neogaf community is loving this s**t.

You'll have to transfer those through the system transfer on the 3DS. I'm sure they'll add an extra step to the update for those who want to update from a 3DS to a New 3DS. Or they'll just give you an adapter for the SD mini so that it can fit in the 3DS when you do the system transfer.
Shoot! Well, even more so to wait for a bundle or better colors. The LL doesn't have customizable faceplates, sorry![]()
as if i'm going to keep the system till the release time
i wanna sell it soon and keep the memory for transfer matters, if that's wont do, then whatever :\
They have faceplate region locking, duh! Faceplates for different regions have different methods of hooking onBut with the faceplate system, you can import Japanese plates!
I hope the New 3DS opens up SNES and GBA Virtual Console.
so my 3ds is now useless?

Japanese use LL instead of XL
The XL has always been called LL in Japan
