I dunno. I recommended the game 3 months ago to a new Wii U owner and he got the game 1 week after for around $50 (currency converted) brand new. He never had difficulty finding a copy.

The revision has exclusives, while the original already (arguably) suffers from a perpetual drought of titles.

I've been buying Nintendo platforms since the original Game Boy and this is the first time I've ever felt this way. Bought a GBA, DS, and 3DS on launch day.
I expect the hardware iterations. That's not the issue. How many times do people have to explain why the phone analogy doesn't work?

If this was the successor to the 3DS being announced I'd be jumping for joy. It truly baffles me that this is so difficult to comprehend for some people.
None of those are comparable, in my opinion, although DSi was close.

Those (ignoring the DSi) weren't ENTIRELY new devices that cost equal to the initial investment and also brought the hassle of moving save files over.
This is just fucking stupid now.
On one hand, its great that Xenoblade will get a second shot at a wide audience, on the other hand, Xenoblade is a pretty huge game, that looks significantly worse even on that small screen. Unless the new 3DS has significantly better battery life, It's going to be a problem, especially with this game since you're traveling very long distances to areas you haven't unlocked fast travel in yet. I think they should have done an HD Wii U port along side this release.

There is 1 announced exclusive, and several more that will take advantage of the system but still run on the original... though they are so far off that their names were unannounced.

I can't understand how that line of thought can work in parallel to the entire Nintendo hardware strategy.
"Strong hardware doesn't matter, but I'm thankful for the opportunity to buy this version with a cpu upgrade and I hope that from now on all games become unplayable on previous iteration of the hardware".
That is what I get out of it.
The contempt is justified because the very existence of this revision is scummy and anti-consumer as fuck. Holding a fan favorite, high in demand game hostage on it is just the cherry on top.
SEGA's poor financial decisions were characterized by more than one failed half step. CD and 32X.
And please don't compare 3DS owners missing out on a 3DS game to Wii owners not wanting to buy an entirely new and separate console.
The original is expensive and hard to find new, for one, and I want to play it on my HDTV without it looking like a mess.
Because making a high profile game such as this exclusive to the slightly modified version of a platform you already own, plain sucks. Would you be OK with the new Xenoblade only working on the Wii U+?

I don't know how much the rest of you know about handheld gaming (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in smart phones where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in handheld gaming, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the Nintendo public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Xenoblade for either system, nor will they purchase any of Nintendo's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Nintendo has alienated an entire market with this move.
Nintendo, publicly apologize and cancel Xenoblade for 3ds or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I remember the bit where SEGA Japan and Americo tried to go in completely different directions and just ended up strangling each other and also the bit where they stretched themselves really thin by trying to support all their hardware at once (which was about 6 systems at that time). I also remember them blowing a huge amount of money on a single game that was going to be a multi part saga called Shenmue.
The only good analogy is a former CEO giving a lifeline or some sort.
NCL has NOA completely whipped so the fighting won't be so obvious.

Seems like they are trying to go with the Apple upgrade model. I don't mind tbh. Just get another system if the upgraded games and extra exclusives matter that much. They aren't abandoning original 3DS support entirely after all.

I don't understand the complaints. Vanilla 3DS can't handle the game, if a new 3DS wasn't coming out, the game wasn't coming out on regular 3DS either.
This way there's an added incentive to buy the new one and people who don't buy one are left the same as they were before, because there was no way Xenoblade was coming out on 3DS.

Oh, okay. Weird how I missed that considering I bought a GB, GBA, GB Micro, PSP, PSP 3000, DS, DS Lite, 3DS, 3DS XL, and Vita (most of those on launch day).

My comparison was meant to say I know how it feels when a Nintendo system goes out of the spotlight, and it sucks. But time and technology move on.
That I'll grant you, and hope the game gets a re release. But it still has nothing to do with the fact that XB is not possible on the old 3DS.
