Vita isn't that much bigger than an XL. but of course Nintendo half asses things like usual.
Which is why I mentioned completely changing the button positions, because that's about the only way it would work on any 3DS without changing the size.

About time for second analog.
"It wont happen."
"Theyll segregate their user base."
You can't just add buttons mid-system. It doesn't work. Those shoulder buttons will be gimmicky at best, as they cannot be implemented knowing for a fact that the user has them. Same with the second stick..
I think they could get away with leaving the face buttons as is but you'd probably want to move them up a bit for ergonomics sake.Which is why I mentioned completely changing the button positions, because that's about the only way it would work on any 3DS without changing the size.
There's nowhere to put the buttons!
It's the same screen resolution, but a slightly larger screen. So, yeah, Nintendo still have no challengers for the 'worst display in a consumer product' award. So you're telling me the New 3DS XL has a lower PPI than 96 (the current XL) or whatever? Terrible if true. Even if it's the same it's still bad.
No. No it is not. That has been my biggest issue with the system. Are the 3DS region free? I'm going to be in japan when these are released and may just pick one up there.
There was an Android phone a while ago with a 3D screen that was higher resolution, I believe. This is something I've been thinking about for a while, but did Sharp even invest in any more glassless 3D screens after 2010-2011? Because I've never heard of higher resolution glasses free screens this size even existing. This is why I've thought that there is no way 3D is in the next handheld.
XL is the same, but the smaller model has a bigger screen than the old smaller model.

Q: Can it play all Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS games?
A: As far as Nintendo DS/DSi software goes, it wont be able to play game cartridges that require a specific connections to the cartridge slots, such as the ones that required the GBA cartridge slot on the DS Lite and DS.
Other titles, for example Pokémon Tretta Lab, that requires extra hardware that fit the original 3DS shape and size, also wont be compatible.

I don't get Nintendo. The DSi saw almost zero support. They're launching this iteration over three years after the system has been out.
This is what the system should have launched as. They should have just held this stuff back for the new actual major handheld and saved themselves the money. Options are good, but sometimes they just don't make sense. Looks pretty, though.
I'm pretty sure the DSi saw healthy sales.
I feel like that second analog "stick" is a perfect encapsulation of Nintendo's present problem where their hardware isn't sufficient for the "core" but also not suitable for casuals.
Most gamers don't want a second stick. Given that most portable gamers seem to be happy with no sticks at all, the number who feel a second stick is a significant improvement represent a distinct minority. But of those who do want a second stick, what they've created will be entirely unsatisfactory. They want two built in, full analog sticks similar to the Vita, not two slide pads which are asymmetric both in position and in shape, giving a tiny nub on the right hand side. This second "analog stick" is not enough for the "core" gamers who aren't already on board, too much for the casuals who would be fine without an analog stick entirely.
Can you link me to that wallpaper, I'd like that myself pleaseLooking at the case designs, one is almost spoilt for choice.

This one matches my work PC's desktop wallpaper haha.

I always liked the multi colored buttons, I hope that stays in the US version.
Didn't the DSi only add the camera and make some other changes? I don't remember it adding buttons
Either way ya it doesn't matter, this thing will sell
I'm not saying the system will flop.
I'm saying that games won't use the features of the new system.
In Japan it will fly off the shelves, but I have my doubts the western market will give a shit about any of the new features.

Oh just rewatched the presentation, only the smaller new 3DS has interchangeable cover plates the XL ones don't.
Let's hope. If we're looking at a March release in NA, I'll just keep this one and trade it in for credit at a gamestop or something, even though I hate doing that.
Or I'll buy both because I am a consumer whore.
