Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

Kind of hope not. I know it's not a popular opinion but I'd rather have a smaller starting roster giving me time to try out the initial set before working my way through the complete roster. I would supplement this by making it quite easy to unlock other characters. Basically a bit like Mario Kart 8.

If it were up to me we would start with 12. Also:

This confirms the messed up and weird placement of Yoshi.

You still have

Bowser Jr
Wario
Ganondorf
Falco
Jigglypuff
Ness
Mr Game and Watch
ROB
Duck Hunt
Dr Mario
Dark Pit
Lucina

That would be 4(5 if you count Dr. Mario) "new characters" to unlock, 2(3) of which are "clones", out of 12 unlockables.

And why do we have to unlock Wario. Not that I'd play him, but it's weird seeing how he was a fresh starter in Brawl. I'd swap out solo Charizard or Palutena for him.

Only way I could agree to that is if characters were easier to unlock.
I lucked out that Snake was just play on his stage until he pops up.
Can't imagine doing all that work when were looking at a roster of 48.
Would definitely get my friends to do the work.

Shulk is Marty from Back to the Future combined with Sora from Kingdom Hearts and given an accent that combines every accent from the UK, with a pinch of Australia

Awesome

I wonder what they're gonna do with Reyn.

He's like the most popular character so you'd think he'd be in Shulk's final smash.

Assist trophy maybe? Though it looked like Riki was an assist AND in the final smash anyway so...

How long ago was this all revealed? And why all this talk about Smash music? I've been asleep for the past 8 hours.

Can someone please translate the Kirby custom moves detailed in that trailer posted previously. I can't make out what the second hammer and the third rock do.

to unlock. 12 characters is plenty of CHALLENGER APPROACHING, especially seeing you get to unlock them all again when For Wii U comes around :p

It's his swimming trunks from Xenoblade.

They're just trying to even out the fan service. Now we have ZSS with her shorts and Shulk in his swimming trunks :p
Oh I see

I'm going with an Assist since it's a great way to give a secondary character the spotlight.

Popular theory is that Riki is part of a taunt as well as the final smash.

Hello, starting roster confirmation?

I'd be okay with that starting roster being used for multiplayer, but for single player I'd rather have the original n64 roster and unlock the other characters with an exponential difficulty curve. I'd like to unlock a bunch near the star by doing different things, until I get to the pictured roster, then make it tough to get those last 12

I don't think you can expect to have that. The past three games had big starting rosters.

Smash 64: 8 to start with, 4 to unlock
Melee: 14 to start with, 11 to unlock
Brawl: 21 to start with, 13 to unlock

And with Smash 4 starting with what looks like 36 characters, having to unlock 12 based on the previous entries would line up really well. Of course, 36 is a big number compared to 21 but it's about the same ratio of starting characters to unlockables as the previous games.

I'm not sure why Sakurai doesn't have a smaller starting roster, though. :\

Really, there could/should be a tournament mode that allows you to unlock the whole roster for your session. Then it reverts when you restart the game. Didn't Guitar Hero do this? So you can have your single player game but if you're having a bunch of friends over for multiplayer you can unlock everything for that session.

I wish he would make it smaller. I'd like over half of the characters to be unlockable, with a wide range of different difficulties to unlocking.

Of course to go with it I'd also love to have easily copy-able save files and/or a cheat code to easily unlock characters when needed.

This bothers me more than it should. What a massive oversight.

Eh, it's just his icon, he's still part of the mario universe, so it's ok. He's more near and dear to mario than rosalina is. Rosalina could have her own galaxy icon, and it would be ok :p

... why though?

I'm surprised how good Shulk looks on the Wii U. Thus far, most of the human characters have looked better to me on 3DS - something about their faces just looks off on Wii U - but Shulk looks great on both. That alt is ridiculous, though.

also, lol Shahadan
