Well they're shafting the old one by having exclusive games for the new one.
Splitting the fanbase seems like a bad idea, but hopefully this means that the 3DS will have a long lifespan like the DS/DSi generation. Hopefully I won't have to get a new 3DS to play Pokémon, though.
I don't think the OG one can properly run Xenoblade so that's why it's exclusive. It's probably not a malicious choice.
You probably will if you want the best experience. After all, gen 5 were DSi games. Not exclusive mind you, but they were indeed DSi cards.
DS is not that ancient and it's the second best selling game system ever made. Plenty of people are used to Nintendo's layout, and in any case, why can't different companies use different layouts? Sony doesn't care about any supposed "standard", and Nintendo doesn't either.Nintendo's layout is the correct placement; everybody else is using the backwards design. Sure, it's Nintendo's fault for losing their industry relevance and having the knockoff design become an industry standard, but that doesn't change the fact that Nintendo's design is the one Nintendo should always use.
Wiki said:PICA200 is a graphics processing unit (GPU) for embedded devices designed by Digital Media Professionals Inc. (DMP), a Japanese GPU design company. It was announced at SIGGRAPH 2005, and presented on SIGGRAPH 2006 conference.
The Game Boy Color took apart the layers of the game image and give each one a color according to a color palette, unless the game came with one already. You'll need hardware strong enough to emulate original 3DS games to give them a higher screen resolution, or leave them alone (like the original DS games on the 3DS, which look worse unless you play them in 1:1 mode); or they will need to be written for a higher resolution (which considering how sluggish Xenoblade runs on 3DS despite being exclusive to the new 3DS, they would need hardware much stronger for that).
Either way, there is no advantage to doing that, only problems. Their next-gen system will certainly have the higher-resolution screen, but the 3DS will stay a 3DS.
So still the same shitty LCD screens on the XL?
Nintendo pls. I'm a full-time student with loans. I can't be buying stuff like this every year.
Well, there were features that were only for the DSi, but IIRC it was just the camera thing. As long as they aren't completely exclusive to the new 3DS I'm fine missing out out a feature or two.
I don't own a 3ds. I will now own a 3ds.
Is it true that the 3ds makes your eyes bleed? That's the one thing that freaked me out about getting it. How is the 3d better here?
Was hoping for LED at least.
Guess Nintendo doesn't feel like using 1995 technology just yet. Maybe in another 10 years.
Well they're shafting the old one by having exclusive games for the new one.
I'm really confused right now.
Is this meant to be a 3DS 2?
It does if you count the eShop. This is beyond lame. The 3ds does NOT have a strong enough library for them to start utilizing new hardware as an "upgrade".
Me too. I got a Hori protector on my 3DS XL, put it away without a scratch for a month or two, opened it up and boom, there's a small one on the protector. It was way worse on the launch model though.I hope they fixed the screen scratching issue.
Except the DSi didn't have any major exclusives like the New 3DS, did it? Aside from DSi Ware of course. They did the same thing with the DS (remember the DSi?). This is nothing new for Nintendo. And frankly I'm guessing they want to keep momentum for the 3DS going for a few more years so they can release both their next handheld and home console at the same time.
I will say is that Nintendo could use some work with their naming conventions. Is New Nintendo 3DS really the best they could come up with?
LED tvs are just LCD panels with led backlighting
Forgive me if I don't massively trust Nintendo's plan for wireless backup.Wireless backup Dock!
OT: Also, Tumbledrop is awesome, but update it some time will ya?
I hate that the New 3DS LL doesn't have the Super Famicom buttons
Ok. Here is my opinion right now about Nintendo and this "new" machine.
I love Nintendo. I am a Wii U owner. We got also two Wii in the house, a 3DS, and a DSi. But one thing i think Nintendo is atm not doing right is to revolutionize the handheld industry. People, do you realise that since 2004, that about 10 years, the only kind of handheld system have give us is the same dual screen console? I think its another attemp to re-milk they handheld. Im tired of it Nintendo, seriously. Give us something new.
Nintendo, people are going toward tablets to game, why not make your own tablet like console? You know, something like an ipad mini, having the screen move up, so you could put a joystick and 4 button at the bottom, and make it a bit curved in the bottom back, so you could put 2 or 4 trigger on the back of the ipad. During my free time, i have tough about a concept of a tablet like console. It was what i was expecting. But this other attempt of maybe the same 3DS over and over, with the same specs. Cmon.
not sure if serious but the 3D is harmless. the new 3DS has better viewing angles.
That would require two sizes to be manufactured. Not surprised they said no to thatSo are the faceplates only for the new regular 3DS? I does not look like they will fit on the new LL.
