So this pretty much confirms a Wii U HD port of the original Xenoblade Chronicles.
For you guys who own a PS4, Xbox One, or Wii U: Would you be okay with an iteration of any of those systems that has slightly improved specs and features games that are not available on the original versions of the platform?
To me handheld gaming consoles are still... gaming consoles. They follow a set of rules that goes back decades. There are small exceptions here and there but nothing to this degree that I can think of.
Quadruple-dipping on Xenoblade, and I don't give a single fuck.
Just quoting this because it's a sane and well-reasoned post and more people should read itThis is madness..
Ok a couple of facts that some folk seem to be ignoring.
There would be no Xenoblade Chronicles on 3ds without the beefier CPU. If it were capable of running on the original 3DS, They would absolutely release it on it, it's what? 50 million customers versus 0 current customers of the "new" 3DS. They don't profit too much on hardware and saying that it would be a way to sell the new system is insane, this is a niche RPG. You can't magically get games running on weak hardware, it just doesn't happen. No amount of wishful thinking or strength of will can achieve that, there is not enough power period.
We still don't know how much more powerful this new CPU will be but 5% is an idiotic estimate. The poster who even said that claimed he was pulling the number out of his ass and that he was only saying a random number for argument's sake. It's sad how some people were taking this completely random guess by a random forum poster as fact
There is still plenty of time to optimize the code, this is an early build so things are rough, it's premature to complain about framerate and whatnot. It would be wise to wait for the final product to make a fair and educated judgement.
Also take into account youtube video compression and that crappy quality screenshot. Not to mention that handheld 3D games always look like shit in captured footage. Compare https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRlddPjcKUA to the game running on the actual hardware, it always looks much more jaggy in videos.
It's this or not having Xenoblade portable as an option at all. I understand the disappointment of people who already bought a 3ds but I don't think it's fair to say you'd rather have them not make this a reality.

*High-fives*

i don't follow
Dude the game isn't going to run anything close to well. The Wii was struggling to maintain the framerate. Now if the CPU boost is really really significant, which I very much doubt, Nintendo isn't going to be able to do much.
Bought it when it first came out in Japan cuz I wasn't sure it was going to get localized. Then it came out in Europe, so I bought it to see what the localization was like. Then it came out in North America, and I bought it because... well, why the hell not?
Now I'm going to buy it again, because I've already experienced how bloody incredible this game looks in 3D.
Exclusive to the New 3DS only due to its increased CPU.
Doesn't really hurt chances at all to me. XCX will still be on Wii U so it's a good idea to make XC HD for Wii U.Does this crush any hope of an HD Xenoblade Chronicles? Was kind of hoping they were going to pull a Bayonetta 2 type deal and put an update to the original in with the sequel.

It looks really horrible graphically, I doubt I will be able to pass over that.
So are you going to find someone arguing this or do you just like jumping into threads and creating imaginary arguments?
Oh it's a port and requires the new 3DS. Well, I'm getting the new small model 3DS anyway, so it works for me.
I have the Wii version but since I sold my Wii and moved on I never played it extensively, even though I have a Wii U. Maybe this will motivate me

Do we even know if Monolith is even porting this?Lol, I guess Monolith Soft really was working on a 3ds title, just not what we thought.
This game looks like shit though and was moving so damn slow, will wait on more videos and then reviews but I don't see myself buying new hardware for this.

Because it isn't a new system, it's just a revision with a better CPU. Most games will still be regular 3DS games, some will have improvements when played on the New 3DS and a few games will be exclusive.Wait they made a new 3DS that's can run games the original doesn't.... and they didn't totally rename the system? Is nintendo stupid?
If the "New" 3DS is the next Nintendo handheld and not just a revision, why the fuck would Nintendo give it such an awful name!

I think it pretty much confirmed the opposite.
It's the NEW 3DS, as in it's a revision of the existing 3DS system with new stuff. The New 3DS isn't a new system.
Yup, sounds about right.
Do we even know if Monolith is even porting this?
As much novelty as this would bring, I feel an HD Wii U upgrade would serve the game better.
Not sure how to feel about it being exclusive to the new 3DS...
