49 character roster confirmed.
49 character roster confirmed.

I assume Ice Climbers is a lock for the wiiu version, lucas and wolf probably could be part of the first dlc batch as well since they'll take less time compared to a complete newcomer.
Snake is gone, he had a once in a life time chance
So happy I got to preorder my amiibos lol
Some PAX gameplay from Gamexplain. Not sure if it's a new build.

I'll still hold out hope.
A third party character as DLC will bring in the money. It's been the case with every fighting game that's done it.
Everyone has a shot at DLC. DLC is up in the air though.

Yep, this is the E3 build. BUt we'll be going hands-on with the new one in about an hour. Hopefully they'll let us report on it soon! =)
You like everything, though.I like the stage lineup. :-D
Really excited to see the F-Zero and Magicant stages, and to see the classic stages in 3D.
Shulk looks fun, but his trailer was really lame compared to the Fire Emblem vs Captain Falcon one. I do like the boss teaser at the end.
Would rather see another Capcom, Sega, or Namco Bandai character before a Konami rep unless it's Simon Belmont

I kind of agree with this. The series representation is so bad...You like everything, though.
The stage roster is pretty much indefensibly bad. It has fewer stages than Brawl does and fewer new stages than Melee introduced with large gaping holes in series representation, many represented solely through single stages that are over a decade old. Very few of them are secret at all, in comparison to the characters which has a pretty normal sized secret list (not in proportionality but in totality).
It's just bad, bad, bad, and I really hope it doesn't end up this way for the Wii U version.
Not ready to accept a 2014 Smash roster without Dixie Kong barring DLC.Does this commercial say over 40 characters? http://youtu.be/QBXddbXQaXE

Part of me wants to do them all, part of me says 'no no, just the ones you love...'
Says E3 build in the comments. Not surprising for Wii U version at least.
3DS is probably still E3 for public, final / japanese version for press?
Me too! Just pre-ordered the Mario and Link Amiibos.![]()
My stab at what the All-Star mode stages will be:
1983: Luigi
I would like to hear your thoughts on this one. I think it would make sense.

Hahaha, that couldn't be farther from the truth. I just don't dwell on things that disappoint me in videogames. Unless it's no single-player Versus in MK7, then I bring it up in every thread ever! You like everything, though.
I anticipate it'll be similar for the WiiU version, albeit series that didn't get original stages on the 3DS version will get them on the WiiU, and vice-versa. So between the two versions, each franchise will have received all-original representation. I guess something had to give if they were to tackle a project of this magnitude. Fortunately, I like the retro stages they have chosen and feel they are good "evergreen" representations for those game worlds.Green Mamba said:The stage roster is pretty much indefensibly bad. I just have such a hard time believing the only new Metroid stage is fucking Pyrosphere... Goddamn it.
What's going to happen at the closed media event?
Shulk is going to be bottom tier for sure. I mean, he can't even effectively fight half the cast.
Somebody will get it.
Jesus, GameXplain already has a 30 minute Direct discussion up and a couple PAX videos? That's some pretty fast content.

3ds stage selection is bad hopefully you can sync the two versions and unlock the 3ds stages on the wiiu
I really, REALLY hate the Yellow Devil...
My current theory, if Polar Bear and Sneaky Spirit are still in but Ice Climbers and Chorus Men are not, is that at one point, Sakurai had designs to try and incorporate Ice Climbers and Chorus Men, but when those multi-man characters proved too much for the 3DS to handle at 60 fps, they were axed but their Smash Run enemies were retained.I still don't think enemy presence in Smash Run ever correlated to character presence in the game.

R.O.B and Megaman make up half the cast!?

Coulda sworn there was a loophole for that in Xenoblade. I mean, don't you use the Monardo to fightZanza, Mumkhar and the like?
I don't really want a precedent set for more than one third party character per company.Would rather see another Capcom, Sega, or Namco Bandai character before a Konami rep unless it's Simon Belmont
A Smash Bros. Melee Iron Man tournament between Mang0, M2K, Silent Wolf, and Westballz is going to happen on the Twitch stream at PAX in 30 minutes!! If I recall, they each get to have three characters.

He'd be fine against characters like Bowser, DK, and the Pokemon.
And I guess Luma?

Well, it's an assumption based on the massive quantity of enemies we already know about, and how 99% of them come from series we know for sure have playable reps. Which is why I'm inclined to believe that at least originally, Smash Run was meant to incorporate two types of enemies: Enemies returning from Subspace Emissary, and enemies from series repped by playable characters. And when some of those playable characters who were originally planned (Ice Climbers, Chorus Men) didn't work out for one reason or another, they cut the characters but not their Smash Run enemies.FWIW, neither did I. It seems like a "no brainer" that the enemies would indicate a playable character but there's no solid evidence of it. Just an assumption made up by fans.
