...and they clearly don't look any better than the 3DS video, especially when you factor in the screen size. Did you watch the videos you just posted? All the pop-in and framerate drops?

You're telling that there is no noticeable difference between this

And this

Let alone the clear side by side comparison video

Showing said difference.
Did anyone notice that the one screenshot looks like it shows Super Mario 3D World running on the New 3DS or is that just 3D Land? I wonder if that will also be another game that will only run on the new hardware revision.

This image has been sitting in my 3DS SD Card since the middle of 2011. Since then it's been a dream of mine to play it on my 3DS. Sadly, it isn't the one I have now, but I'll get it regardless.
Yeah... not much of a difference, really... a couple of moments of framestutter in an unfinished port... but beyond that it looks just about the same... That's impressive on 3DS hardware (even if it did get a slight overclock.) I don't see the problem. Shit looking game still looks like shit on a handheld...
Same here. Were they of Metroid Other M, Super Mario Galaxy and Wind Waker? There are actually a few more 3D shots that I found some years ago but Ive completely forgotten where I got them.
So basically releasing said demake to a install base of exactly 0 (Or one that will be significantly smaller than the WiiU's) is smarter than releasing the remake that everyone who's played the game has been clamoring for since the sequel was announced on a console where the sequel will come out.

This isn't true, unless you're using Dolphin. The PAL version of Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii ran at 25fps.
I agree. I don't mind the graphics as long as the game is playable. So what if it doesn't look as good as on Wii? The ability to have Xenoblade on the go means a lot more to me as a consumer than graphical parity.
It's fucking Xenoblade, one of the best RPGs of recent years, on a handheld!
I think your perception of the size of the Xenoblade fan base is greatly over exaggerated. On top of that you are only appealing to a subset of that fan base that want to replay the game in HD when many already played it on Dolphin. So you have extremely hardcore fanbase + people that couldn't find copies. You are probably in the 10s of thousands that would buy the game and probably thousands that would purchase a console for it.
Instead you can release it to a handheld hungry country in Japan and have it help push hardware.
Just my opinion, I could be completely wrong, but I think a Wii U remake of Xenoblade is just bound for financial failure compared to the lesser financial failure of putting it on a handheld. Either way it's probably going to not sell well.
then just stick to the Wii and stop complaing about it.I know what Xenoblade looks like, i have Xenoblade and have played Xenoblade. I also have played Xenoblade via Dolphin.

Those are clearly not Dolphin shots.
The framerate for the 3DS version was noticeably worse than the Wii version, that's not even been a debatable thing in this. There is a clear slowdown during the mechon battle on the 3DS vs Wii video i linked. Not to mention the clear smudged look of the 3DS version.
I honestly don't see much of a difference between this and the Gameboy Color and DSi.
If it bombs, they can just not make any more software for it and the people who bought it get nice external hardware changes. If it does well, they can start driving it with more software.
Neither the GBC nor the DSi stopped the GBA or 3DS from existing.
If a WiiU remake of Xenoblade is a financial failure then what would a ground up WiiU Xenoblade be then?
Appealing to the currently non existent handheld base while essentially leaving the tangible console base out in the cold that you want to buy your sequel makes no sense at all.
It's a clear difference considering that the 3DS version is running at a lower resolution and having framerate problems like that (Not that the Wii didn't have it's share of framerate issues but that was the main version running at a higher resolution, this is a downgraded port).
An unfinished port it might be but considering that places like Makna forest exist in Xenoblade that caused some framerate problems on the main version, what's that going to do to Xenoblade 3DS especially once 3D is turned on.
porting it to the 3DS it's probably way easier and cheaper to do.Cool that it is coming to the "new" 3DS, however I am rather disappointed. I was hoping for a HD remaster for the Wii U. The assets are already there... just needed to work on faces. So long as it has decent FPS (and looks decent) I will grab it and a new 3ds. Xenoblade on the go seems amazing.
yeah, so many nintendo haters here. The reactions are amazing.
Starting to wonder that no matter what Nintendo does the bitching will be immense.
The console base isn't out in the cold. They can play the original on their Wii U or Dolphin already. I agree not everyone can get it, but that is a very very small portion of people.
But yes, X Wii U is likely not going to turn a profit. Just like the Wonderful 101, ZombiU and probably Bayonetta 2. I don't know what the budget is but with 3-4 years of development I think it'll have to sell millions and considering the original sold less than a million I'm not sure it will be a financial success. I'm very excited for it but this is far from a system seller outside of a very devoted, but small, fan base.
Lets see...
Unfinished port
completely different hardware
The original couldn't maintain a steady frame rate (Not just Makna Forest, it was throughout the game)
Looks almost identical visually
Given that it's still being polished, I don't see the problem.
If it launches and has the same frame stutter, then we can all complain. (even if it was a 4fps difference if the analysis is to be believed) There's no reason to act like this is some terrible downgradaton based on what we've just seen, though.

why aren't ya all excited for a 240p port of a wii game to this "new" 3DS? Come on, look at how ugly and slow it is.
I'm so excited for this! Today has been one interesting day with this and the Shulk reveal in Smash. Is this gonna be a launch game with 3DS new?
How is that a small portion and how is it a solution when Xenoblade isn't exactly overflowing on store shelves for every one. I seriously doubt that the lucky ones that doesn't hold true for outnumber the ones that it doesn't.
Also define what you mean when you say a small portion because i would challenge that a larger portion of the fanbase has not played Xenoblade in HD than the portion that has and of the ones that have played it on Dolphin i'm willing to bet a decent portion of them acquired it through other means to do that as opposed to using their own copy.
The existence of Dolphin WW didn't invalidate WWHD. There's nothing that says a Nintendo HD remake of Xenoblade would also be the exact same game. They fixed things that people had issues with in WW and there is nothing to say they can't or would not do the same for a HD remake of Xenoblade. After all why should a select few be the only ones to experience Xenoblade in HD just because they can use Dolphin a program that Nintendo as far as i know doesn't even officially recognize.
Not to mention the fact that when your release schedule is as sparse as it is for the WiiU (Comparatively speaking) any game that can help fill it out is welcome especially one that brings more of a spotlight on it's sequel on that same console.
Driving sales for the WiiU through Nintendo software that might not necessarily turn a profit on their own is also important for Nintendo.
But, I'm just happy the game is coming, regardless if I'm the only one who buys it.
The New 3DS is a new product, what's so difficult to understand? It's not dividing a user base, it's just like an Iphone 4S and an Iphone 5S. I think it's a new generation for the handheld and I believe it was a smart move.
I own a 3DS XL and will buy the new model because I believe it's justifiable for all the new things it brings. And, of course, because of Xenoblade.

It's just pure conjecture by both of us, so there will be no end to this discussion. I'll just summarize my thoughts and leave it be.
I'm guessing the amount of people that would buy an HD remake of a game that they can already play on the same console, or emulate, (couldn't play WW on the Wii U) is small. I think so because it is a niche game that is readily available to the majority of people. I feel your pain on the importing, that sucks, but I think your case at this point in time is relatively rare. Like on the scale of 10s of thousands. I think an even smaller number would be the number of people that would buy the console specifically because of said remake. Both numbers small enough to not turn a profit or outweigh the benefits of tapping into the crazy handheld market in Japan and push new hardware.
Eh, they don't really need to make it harder. What they need to do is make it so you can hit enemies more than six levels above you, even if it's just a paltry sum. The way they have it now just makes it take a long time, not really making it more difficult.I would only be tempted if they fixed the difficulty level.
I'm not acting like it's a terrible downgradeton i am simply stating what's what. Which is the Wii version looked clearly better than the 3DS version which is more or less what we've come to expect of Wii to 3DS ports.
