Xenoblade announced for New 3DS

I already have this game on Wii (and still need to finish it) but I think I will double dip if there a good sale or bundle to upgrade my 3DS.

Pay $100 for a Wii copy of Xenoblade for emulation?
Pay around $150, assuming trade in value, to play Xenoblade,on the go?

No one said you had to buy it completely new, there's like new copies on ebay and amazon, hell even gamestop for $50 or so, same goes for buying a Wii to play things on, except you can get that for quite a bit less used and still get a decent quality one. You have the option to get these things used for much less than they are new, that option will not be there for a new 3ds or 3ds Xenoblade, best you'll get for a while is 5-10% off the new price, which is still quite a bit more than buying the other 2 things I mentioned used.

The idea of a portable Xenoblade is cool and all but doesn't make me want to buy it or a new 3ds simply because the resolution is unbelievably crappy. Xenoblade already looked compressed on the Wii and now it looks even worse, I just don't understand why they decided this would be better. Should've waited for the successor that'll hopefully have a better resolution (even if it's low resolution is the only way the new 3ds can play it)

I really hope this has the beastiary they wanted to include and that this streamlines the HUD and gives the option to turn off battle cries (however useful they are)

As if I needed another reason to play my favorite game again

In for New3DS and Xenoblade3DS

They should port it to WiiU too so I can buy it a third time

I think that we're so used to seeing "gameplay" footage from other companies that looks better than the final product that we forget that Nintendo actually tends to improve games up till release.
right, I'm sure that this (you can clearly see the hardware improvements in this "new" 3DS!)

will become something very beautiful. just have to believe in the pre-release Nintendo's magic, yes?

Lol.

Last I checked VITA exists and it isn't a monopoly. Also noone is forcing you to buy the new 3DS for this game. It also exists on Wii if you really want to play it, and if you don't have a Wii you can also buy the game, rip it and play it on Dolphin PC. I guess that Gameboy Color must have been screwing over the userbase also...

Point is it will lead to more games that may potentially be exclusive to this revision.

It's funny how you are comparing the 3ds which was released in 2011 to this revision which will first be released in 2014 to the game boy which was released in 1989 to the GB color which was released about almost 8 years later.

Can't believe people are defending this grimy cash grab - it's as bad as Nintendo reducing the price of the 3ds in its first year.

Thank goodness that footage is from the final version of the game. It must be right around the corner now!

At this point though, we're only dealing in hypotheticals about the rest of the market. I don't think we'll see a ton of New 3DS exclusive titles at all, especially when you look at third parties. It doesn't make sense for them to close off exclusivity at all, and likely will only make "enhanced" versions that work on both systems.

Honestly, this is the most excited I've been in so long. And what a perfect launching pad for XCX:

- Xenoblade port to the New 3DS
- Shulk in Smash 4

All of this as marketing for XCX when it's finally released.

I can't play games like Xenoblade on consoles because I get bored, but on handheld it would be awesome to open and close the system and just play small bits.

In going to upgrade anyway, so I'm in for Xenoblade 3ds, assuming it isn't too dumbed down or anything like that.

Yeesh, this thread.

Anyway, if people want a New 3DS and they've never played Xenoblade, this is a no-brainer. I mean this version will be a few steps back on the graphical side, but man when the game finally hits the shelves it will look better than today's footage. And afterwards we'll be discussing how in the hell those Monolith magicians crammed this beast of a game on a 3DS gamecard.

ok boys, keep living the dream.

don't be too disappointed when the game will look exactly the same when it's actually out. I'm sure that by then you'll find some more excuses.

come on lol

I'm not expecting a miracle but the final version is at least guaranteed to look better than it does right now.

happened to Hyrule Warriors, for instance. don't be so quick to assume one extreme, there's always the middle.

i feel the same way. however there's a bit more going on here than the upgrades the gbc and dsi received. new controls for an updated system is brand new territory for nintendo. not that it hasn't been done before though, it's just been a long time since the last one (dual shock/sony).
Wouldn't the last major one have been Wii Motion Plus?

This would be the first one for a handheld, unless the cameras added to DSi and PSP3000 count. Then would Kinect count too?

3DS screens and videos always look like garbage on the internet. Much better when you get it in front of you.

Man that looks absolutely awful!

Come on Nintendo, just for once release a piece of hardware that is not on the low end of the spectrum!

i forgot about kinect and motion plus. i suppose those mattered. the dsi/psp cameras really mattered very little, i think. they seemed equivalent of the gbc infrared sensor.

I remember when people were clammoring about how games like SM3DWorld, Wonderful 101, Hyrule Warriors, etc. looked like shit during their reveal trailers. Then when the games actually released "Omg this doesn't look anything like the reveal!" No shit.

Case in point.
