True, and if he said something along the lines of "I really preferred playing Xenoblade in Japanese so I hope there's an option for Japanese voices" that's one thing. It's just that arrogance of "SUPERIOR Japanese voices" talk that bugs the crap out of me. This isn't the 90s.

Sometimes you hate the voice dub a game or show, but it eventually grows on you. The Last Story and Xenoblade were both really British, but I can't imagine them sounding any other way. Like the 4Kids dub of Pokemon.

2. Sneaky Spirit. Yeah, we've seen the Polar Bear, but as far as I know only in two shots, one which was quickly removed. The other was in a press packet, so it couldn't be recalled. I think Mr. Polar Bear was included early on, but the Climbers got the boot. Still, we have Sneaky Spirit in the demos, so I think that signifies something.
The Polar Bear actually was in the E3 Smash Run demo, it just wasn't very common. I'll have to dig for it, but I saw a video of it a few days ago posted here.

I think one thing worth noting about the Smash Run enemies--we have seen two enemies that for sure were not in the E3 demo--Pooka (the Dig-Dug enemy) from official screenshots, and the Devil Car (Mother enemy) from the leak, both of them from franchises with characters that said characters were not yet revealed at the time of the demo (Pooka being a generic Namco arcade thing, which is what Pac-Man more or less is in Smash Bros.). Again--enemies from franchises that belong to characters who have not been revealed yet were held off on. The Polar Bear and the Sneaky Spirit were plainly present though. I think this may prove significant and actually count against Ice Climbers and Chorus Men than count for them.

You're a terrible person that's also very very wrong. Kid Icarus Uprising has some of the best English voice acting in any game ever.

But I do agree an option like Melee would be nice though.

Or maybe he love Palutena Japanese voice? Or maybe he can't stand Lighting actress voice?
It would be cool if we can't switch voices like we do in SF IV.

Yep, Kid Icarus was one of the first time I enjoyed English dub. Hades samaaaaaaaaaa!

The Wii Wheel easily outsold the entire Kid Icarus franchise. I think by now we can accept the Wii Wheel deserves a playable spot.

Obviously the Wii Remote should be playable. It moves by hopping around and has various attacks that use its peripherals like the Wii Sword and Wii Racket.

Eh, maybe, but Sakurai's shown Mr. Saturn and Franklin Badge, so he's not really holding off on Mother stuff totally.

You know, as possibly meh as Dark Pit could be

I really don't think 2.5 characters is this obsessive amount of KI characters people keep accusing Sakurai of boosting.

When you think about it, Kid Icarus Uprising is the Metroid of modern times, both in sales and the fervor of its fanbase.

Ohh, interesting.

And in the pic of the day: "He's not the type of character that would usually appear in the Smash Bros. series" Why is he? Sorry for asking so many questions. :p

I didn't understand that at all. Did he mean "an anime based swordsman from an RPG"? Because if that was the case there's a lot of this roster that wouldn't be the type of character to appear.

The only people who should whine about Dark Pit are people who didn't play KI:U, and those people need to stop what they're doing and go play it

It's a combination of Dark Pit "stealing a spot" (not really), the big amount of Smash Run enemies and new items from the game.

I just thought it's because I guess he's more "niche" than most characters.

Although I'd say Mother is as well, that at least has been around for quite awhile that it's built a strong cult following. Shulk's rather young, and his game...well, feels a bit different from the usual Nintendo fare. Probably why there's quite a few people who thought he'd be considered 3rd Party.

If you discount Xenosaga/Xenogears, Shulk is the youngest franchise in the entire game.

He's a one-off character from an RPG that is disproportionately popular in Japan that was created at a company not founded by Nintendo. He's also a brand new character. He's in some ways this game's Lucas.

Smash Run enemies is probably because of the ease of pulling them from Uprising.

Two new stages is ridiculous though.

Actually, I really wish the Wiimote (with nunchuck attachment) was an item. It just makes sense.

I'm still waiting for the "Wii U Release Date" trailer,

PLEASE LET THAT BE THE NEXT ONE!

We're nearly in September now. Nintendo really needs to lock this title down if it truly is coming this year. Hopefully that rumored late November release date is real.

Sakurai isn't helping this by putting him in the row with the other 3rd party characters and miis when customization is on. At least it makes sense for Yoshi to be in the middle of the Mario reps and for the "new" clones to be in a clone corner, but Shulk being grouped with the 3rd party characters is very bizarre.

I realize now the only big things we have left to wonder about the 3DS Version are what's the full extent of Smash Run.

For awhile I've been wondering if it'll be more in-depth than what we've seen in the demos. Will there be bosses like rumored? Additional maps?

We don't know all of the game's contents, but judging from things in the moment Kid Icarus ended up as one of the IPs with the largest amount of new stuff in Smash. I'm not saying it is bad at all since I loved Uprising, but even if you ignore characters the series got a couple of new ATs, stages, and an especially large amount of items and Smash Run enemies.

Speaking of Xenosaga, since Namco's developing SSB4, I wonder what the chances of a KOS-MOS assist trophy or something similar would be. It'd be a cute reference to Monolith's past work, and probably wouldn't take much license wrangling.

Besides guest characters, Xenoblade is the first non-EAD/SPD IP introduced to Smash Bros. since Fire Emblem in 2001, so it's certainly "unique" in that sense. It stands out against Pikmin, WarioWare, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing, Wii Fit, and so on.

Sakurai basically made KI:U with a "what crap do I want to put into Smash Bros that no other Nintendo game currently has and how do I put it into this game"

I'd be honestly surprised if there wasn't at least a trophy. I expect at least a handful of Namco trophies with them being much more hands-on than Sega and Konami were last time, as well as Pac-Man already having a cameo taunt.

Yeah, I thought Magnus in particular was envisioned as a character who could appear in Smash so I'm surprised he ended up an Assist Trophy. Not that I'm complaining though, I'd much rather have Palutena.

Where is (are) the Chorus Men? I'm starting thinking that Sakurai cut it even before we get a chance to see it.

Like the Lucina vs Captain Falcon (and Robin) trailer which make clear that Chrom isn't in maybe Sakurai just give few character up cause of time?

Yeah and I think it was more like he had quicker access to Uprising enemies and weapons so he just put them in Smash. If he were as biased as some people say, Dedede would have taken priority over characters in 64 and Melee (I think Marth and Roy are examples). It took him 3 games to include more than one of his characters.

It's more the 2.5 characters and a huge amount of other stuff on top of it. Enormous amount of Smash Run enemies, wider new item selection than any other franchise save maybe Mario, two new Assist Trophies, and a new stage in both versions when Smash mainstays (and much bigger franchises) Metroid and Donkey Kong can't be arsed to get one in both.

Dark Pit seems more like the straw that broke the camel's back in this regard. It's the excessive Kid Icarus (Uprising, really, one game) representation in comparison to other bigger franchises that have seemed to have gotten jack in comparison.

I am leaning toward believing the idea that stage bosses are also sometimes selectable characters.

Edit: the crime is too little KI, not too much. It is easily the best handheld game ever made, right next to TWEWY.

Sakurai plays the long game. Palutena was groomed for immediate inclusion, whereas Phosphora and the Magnus & Gaol teamup will be newcomers in SSB5 after their solo outings.
