Why would they bring Dr Mario back but not the superior Pichu?
On a new note, has Sakurai ever commented on the possibility of balance patches?
This would be really big and as important as more characters to me. It's almost impossible to balance a game of 50 characters so it would be pretty cool if they were willing to do an patch or two down the line.
Were not at a stage in development where were going through those fine sorts of adjustments. When we get towards the end of development, we will have what we call monitor playtests, where we watch people play the games. We perform thorough analysis based on those observations. There have been cases in the past, admittedly, where we didnt gather sufficient data for certain characters, and that resulted in certain game imbalances. Patches are something wed definitely like to be able to do, if possible.
Because Pichu is in the game already, he just evolved. And because there's not as much of a need, because Pikachu's down B didn't change to something horrible in Brawl, so Pichu doesn't need to bring it back! Why would they bring Dr Mario back but not the superior Pichu?
From my understanding, the additional characters are already being worked on (which is why they were able to be shown to ash at PAX), but they won't be ready for the WiiU release. Rather, they're being saved for "Super Smash Bros 6", which is a WiiU DLC pack/exclusive New3DS game, since the 3DS can't handle characters like the Ice Climbers.
The issue isn't about stages being too far out or extreme imho.
Like, I've barely ever heard anyone complain about Norfair, that stage's hazard literally covers the entire visible playing area.
Pretty much all stages that are absolutely hated by many share the same basic problem: horrible horrible base lay-out.
75M? Shit layout.
Hanenboy? Shit layout. (especially as the fight progresses.)
New Pork? Shit Layout.
Mushroomy Kingdom? lol..

So what would everyone think if this was the DLC
Isabelle
Ridley
Chorus Kids
Impa
Dixie Kong
Mewtwo
Lucas
Wolf
Ice Climbers
Great Tiger
Haha, I just saw Sora Sagaya retweet that. I told her how I saw one at Shinjuku Station (the one she retweeted was in Ikebukuro), and she said that there are probably big posters at all the big stations along the Yamanote Line (e.g. Shibuya, Tokyo).
Naw, I didn't forget. Three weeks waiting after japanese release date is nothing.
Is... This sarcasm? From my understanding, the additional characters are already being worked on (which is why they were able to be shown to ash at PAX), but they won't be ready for the WiiU release. Interesting thought, since there was a job posting for Smash 6.From my understanding, the additional characters are already being worked on (which is why they were able to be shown to ash at PAX), but they won't be ready for the WiiU release. Well if it's treated as like a giant new expansion pack (like Super Luigi U), I don't think it would be that bad to make it N3DS exclusive. It also gets around the problem of having to hold back content from the WiiU version because of the low specs of the 3DS version, which seems to be happening right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai gave up on trying to get the Ice Climbers and Chorus Kids to work once he heard about the N3DS, and just decided to save them for the update. That's why you still see Smash Run enemies from their series.Having to buy the New 3DS just for Smash content...if it comes in a box, I'm going to have to buy it and hate myself for doing so.
Yeah! And it was posted around the time where at least I'd imagine they'd start thinking about this kind of thing, so it lines up in my mind.Interesting thought, since there was a job posting for Smash 6.

From all these I find New Pork City to be the least shitty. When playing for fun, the stage can be pretty hilarious sometimes.
I agree on all the other suggestions. Especially Hanenboy - I have ignored this stage so much to the point where I forgot it existed.
New model vs. New skin.But... Mario is in the game already, he's just wearing different clothes.

Not really, just the obvious stuff. There was a listing calling for workers for "Smash 6", there are obvious omissions from the roster (two of which Sakurai said would be technically challenging to include), and the fact that the N3DS exists.Any evidence for this?

It would be the same roster though, for the original version of the game. Smash 6 would be a "new" game for the N3DS, which is available as DLC for the WiiU. What do you think Smash 6 is, in all honesty? Why would they not make an update, when a new system exists that will allow them to add in more characters that the 3DS couldn't handle?Highly unlikely.
After all this stress on the same roster, they're now going to bunk off the largest Smash 4 install base, which will inevitably be 3DS to make DLC for Wii U and for some stupid reason, the N3DS.
Right.

Does it? That's a pretty big error to make haha. I mean I guess it could go either way, but I'm pretty sure that's the only way we'll end up getting more characters (or at least characters like te ice climbers). After looking at how Nintendo handles stuff like the GBA games on 3DS, I don't think they'd release anything that works less than optimal, like having to put restrictions on how many people play as Ice Climbers. So either just on WiiU, or on WiiU and N3DS.I've heard some speculate that it was error and the listing was actually referring to Soul Calibur 6. Makes way more sense.

That's what I'm expecting too. It looks cooler, the 3D apparently actually works well (the reason I always leave it off is because I hate how the slightest movement ruins the effect), and on top of that it gets exclusive games and features. I don't know why anyone wouldn't upgrade, honestly.Question: After the release of the Game Boy Color, did you know anybody without a Game Boy Color?
I was born in 1991 and grew up near Boston, so I lived in a reasonable representation of East Coast America. Pokémon fever hit us harder than a hurricane and every child had a GBC, but I never saw anybody with an original Game Boy. I've only ever seen ONE Game Boy in the hands of a player, playing some blurred attempt at Pokémon Blue, sitting on a curb in Maine.
To this day that's the only original Game Boy I've ever seen personally.
This is not dissimilar to the DS to the DS Lite. A year after the Lite was out, that's what you had. That machine was the hands down most popular version of the system and it wasn't even was big of an update as the New 3DS.
I'm curious what it was like for other people, because my experience suggests the New 3DS will be the standard machine very quickly.
So it really was just plucked from thin air. Obvious? A HA HA HA!Not really, just the obvious stuff. I just came back from reading the Sakurai's essay thread :[
and I just realized how I love this place.

Why would they cut some of my favourites like Wolf and Ice Climbers when they can cut boring characters like Mario ;~;

What are you talking about? I literally just listed the reasons where it came from, even though it was admittedly unnecessary, since everyone probably knew that stuff already. So it really was just plucked from thin air. Obvious? A HA HA HA!

Just joking. I kept reading many people's comments about Shulk is most boring character in XenoBlade.
I didn't have the GBC when it came out. Only the regular ol' brick.
That said, I think the Nu3DS is more like the DSi rather than the DS Lite (I feel like the 3DS XL is more aking to the Lite), but unlike the DSi, it seems like the Nu3DS is actually appealing.
This is definitely the case I grew up with as well for the systems. GBA SP was the same way . However to be fair the DSi never really caught on so it makes me wonder about the New 3DS that coupled with how much mobile has taken over for kids. I think it'll do well but it's going to be more of a slow start. Since I doubt Nintendo will make a exclusive Pokemon for it which would be one of the biggest factors in bumping up numbers in the west.
It's Sunday. Smash comes out next week. NEXT. WEEK.

I like the tradition of gloriously rendered butts in ssb.
Let's be honest, if Smash Wii U is releasing November as speculated, does that not leave the team with a single month to debug, add five fighters, and bring the game to gold status?
Seems farfetched in all honesty.
I feel like Shulk being in is Sakurai's way of making it up to me personally.
