The fire reflecting in his glasses looks to be shaped like a winged demon to me. Also, not sure if just a mistake, on the train the logo on his uniform has no writing on / around it, but it does on the street.

If you have a Vita and can play Persona 4 Golden, yeah. What's the twist you know? Spoiler tag it, but there's a few nice twists so you probably don't know of a few. Also, what matters is the characters and the execution itself. It's an amazingly well crafted world that I enjoyed a lot and it's living out the story in that world that's the best part to me. I guess I would say it's the characters over the plot. The characters and their interactions with one another is better than the plot itself in my opinion. Kind of like with The Last of Us if that makes sense. If you knew the ending to The Last of Us but knew nothing else, would it still be a game to play? Absolutely, at least in my book.

Also, I hadn't played a game with anime-looking characters in over a decade (well there's Fire Emblem, but excluding that). I was digging the game the moment it started. The game has its share of anime cutscenes, some I could do without, but it is the general opinion here that it's one of the games most enjoyed by people who generally aren't fans of anime. The voice-acting is superb, the combat flows with the rest of the game as the banter from characters continues on in-battle, the music is great (fits the vibe very well) and varied, the UI is the best looking UI I've seen.

The twists I know?
Adachi is the killer (something something bitches and whores), and I think one of the character turns out to be a she instead of a he. Don't remember the character's name, but I could place her if I saw the character artwork.

Japanese animation tends to be inconsistent with small details per each shot because of the budgets being a fraction that of a western production. It's likely a mistake.

Nope, I see it, too. I wonder if they're doing some smartphone type deal this time around. In persona 3 it was that building, Tartarus, in Persona 4 it was the televisions, I wonder if this time around the whole plot will revolve around smartphones?

Hyped for this, I was seriously debating buying a cheap PS3 for when it came out to play, now there is no reason too and now this won't be a $200 endeavor

It's a damn solid game. Just please give it a chance. There's a reason why non-anime people love this game and you see LTTP threads over and over for this.

Yeah, I figured it was a mistake, just caught my eye.

It wouldn't surprise me, kind of makes sense.

A message from Persona 5 director, Katsura Hashino.

http://p-ch.jp/news/detail/?nid=195

Hello, everyone. This is the Persona Team’s Hashino.

While it was sudden, during the conference that was held by SCE earlier today, they showed a trailer for the Persona series’ latest main numbered title, Persona 5. The setting is reversed from the previous title, as the title will depict the lives of youths living in a setting of a big city.

I apologize for only being able to show so little, but it would make me happy to know that you all have been able to get a glimpse of the game’s atmosphere.

Persona 5 was announced last year, and in addition to the release for PlayStation 3, we’re currently developing a PlayStation 4 version to release simultaneously in 2015. Furthermore, it’s very regretful that we’ll keep you guys waiting (I’m sorry ; ;), but I believe we’ll have a great game that will remain in your hearts.

While this may seem presumptuous to mention in the midst of all the high expectations, I am in charge of the direction of the game, following Persona 3 and Persona 4. Also returning is character designer [Shigenori Soejima] who worked on the previous title, and [Shoji Meguro] in charge of music, and together with trusted and reliable staff members, we’re pushing forward and working hard.

Personally speaking, after directing Catherine, I was supposed to prepare for making titles on HD consoles… but that’s a story from a very long time ago. Since then, we’ve worked together with the team staff on developing various titles, and each one has exceeded my expectations.

Not only in terms of games, but they’ve also reached TV anime series, stage plays, live concerts, and even a theatrical anime film. Honestly, the only thing I’ve planned and produced outside of video games is Persona Stalker Club that is currently going on over at Nico Nico Douga.

In addition to the folks at Aniplex who’ve produced our anime, we are very fortunate to have so many projects and support, and I’m truly grateful. I believe that it is a result from all the support from the fans. Thank you very much.

Again, I’d like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Atlus fans who’ve been supporting us since the past. As you may know, the current series saw a change in production staff back in Persona 3, from visuals, music, to a new view of the world.

In those days, there was a great deal of uncertainty, and even with all the pros and cons, we were blessed with many fans who’ve continued enjoying and supporting us, since the early days to the latest titles. On behalf of the development staff, I’d like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I hope that we’ll have something that will bring you all plenty of joy, and I also hope you all look forward to its completion. Thank you for your continued support!

Am I the only one that thought this? :(

I see what you're saying, I can even make out its arms and legs.

Gaf is amazing, ya'll can spot the slightest detail in the most random spot of a pic. I'm referring to not only this pic but also a couple more in this thread.

I remember when I was that good.

You will be called senpai unless the localization team decides to take out honorifics, which is not common so far in the Persona series.

"Hero worship shit" simplifies the social links down to a level that is ignorant of their purpose.

The bolded doesn't even happen in Persona 4, I don't know what you're referring to. The MC makes a big difference in a lot of peoples lives, yeah, but nobody depends on him that much or ever says or even implies that he's the only reason they're alive. I guess thematically the game is more positive in the way that it depicts friendly relationships, but if your whole problem with Persona 4 versus Persona 3 is that people aren't aloof enough, I think you're being fucking silly.

I think that person is just saying that relationships tend to feel more legitimate and realistic if it's a slow moving thing. Very few relationships are as seemingly explosive as they were in P4.

The trailer made the game look more serious and less typical anime in tone. So happy! Now I have no regrets giving away my PS3 now!

Now if they release a Vita version with cross save... Oh ho ho!

Interesting trailer. Reminds me a bit of P3's opening cutscene. MC design is excellent, Big city setting is neat, and the logo looks really cool too.

Hope we see more at TGS.

LETS GO, COULDNT BE MORE HYPPPPEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

LOVE the P5 Logo, and even love Turtleneck-san's design.

LETS GO!!!!

Edit: Tales fans though, you need that ps3 for Zestiria, so chill.

I edited it into my post at the end, but just gonna respond also:

I can understand that, but it's also a waste of time to put that sort of thing into a video game. From a game design standpoint I think it makes more sense to leave that sort of thing to implication, given the fact that you are literally experiencing months of time in hours.

I just beat Persona 4 Golden, and I have to say it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I've never played a game with such well realized characters and relationships. Seeing each of your friends mature and grow over the course of an entire year truly allowed me to empathize with them.

I'm so hyped for persona 5 now. I'm not sure how the Dev team can top Persona 4's characters, but they can massively improve the dungeons and dungeon crawling in general.

Dude, you know something and yet know nothing. You will enjoy this game, there's a lot more to what you "know". I only played the Vita version and I "knew" what you "know" and the whole time I felt like I knew nothing because the game kept throwing me off.

Well crap. P5 was the main reason I was going to stick with PS3 for awhile longer BUT wow, this is changing my mind. I was planning on getting a Wii U this holiday but now I may keep an eye on Black Friday deals for PS4 instead. I didn't really want to play Dragon Age Inquisition on PS3 and I really want to play Batman Arkham Knight soooo...

Cool, thanks for the feedback everyone. Well definitely check the game out if I ever get a Vita.

Make sure you play 3 during the wait for 5. It's very good as well.

I feel exactly the same way.
