This Persona is going to be in the digital world. Instead of entering through a TV, they enter through Phones/Tablets. :p

WAIT.

You're saying this is Persona 5 AND Megaman Battle Network 7?

You do know this would make my head pop off my body and go dance in the street right?

I do agree it seems like phones will play a big part. I think the ego/personas shown through taking selfies and showing your best side on social media will play a role. Being absorbed in that world instead of social interaction surrounding you, the loneliness will also play a role like it has in the past two entries.

Cool, thanks for the feedback everyone. Well definitely check the game out if I ever get a Vita.

There's also the PS2 version available for PS3 on PSN. However, resolution is lower and it's not widescreen, a good portion of the epilogue is removed (stuff you don't know anything about yet) and the gameplay is less polished. And it's not portable. Still a great game but I don't know if you're better off on waiting for P4G if you are at least somewhat likely to get a Vita.

Two of the best moments from that stream, together at last.

You forgot this moment (which is the best one)

The character in the trailer look rather... pretty. Releasing on PS4 as well makes sense.

Had to do a double take at 40s into the trailer though. The camera cuts JUST before some guy walks straight into another guy. Made me wonder if the protagonist(?) was seeing ghosts.

Loving P4G at the moment. Keen to see how this turns out.

My suspects

Did anyone notice the N.E.X.T Pad tablet Ad on the train? The countless people looking at their cells and devices in the trailer, includin the protagonist himself????

That has to be a hint at the internet or these devices playing a role.

Oh im just talking out my ass. But the trailer did emphasize phones and tablets heavily. Imagine instead of the midnight channel on TV their is a secret website the kids pass around. It could play the same role in people showing up on it.

Then again P4 was its own thing and there was a specific reason for people showing up on the midnight channel. This game might not have anything like that at all.

I doubt it, the hints were obvious, maybe the protag will here about "the persona game" through the internet, or something to that affect, starting the chain of events that leads him to awaken his persona.

It will be interesting to see how this game ropes in people with the world of Persona. 3 obviously had the plot with Tarterus and the midnight hour (and the apathy syndrome). 4 had a killer throwing people into the TV (so forcing people into the shadow world).

So I wonder how 5 is going to bridge the real and shadow world. The common theme in each game is that, the real world/people are impacted by the shadow world (hence why the MC must stop it). I could still see them tying it to a website/ that the kids around school talk about (maybe a place where they spread gossip or something like that).

I dunno. It's all speculation and wild guessing.

The twists I know?
Adachi is the killer (something something bitches and whores), and I think one of the character turns out to be a she instead of a he. Don't remember the character's name, but I could place her if I saw the character artwork.
.

I knew both of these things going in to Persona 4 and I still loved it. Go for it!

Its almost as if the devices are shadows themselves, metaphorically speaking, and are impacting the people around the protagonist. Just look at how most of them are all in their own world. Hmm, who knows right now, its fun to just speculate.

I swear I've seen that character design before...

Having just seen that anime...I knew he looked familiar! :P

Well that would be interesting as hell! I guess that makes sense, seeing as the trailer had him in the real world, and everything strange going on what happening around him (and it kept cutting to people being on their devices).

You will be called senpai unless the localization team decides to take out honorifics, which is not common so far in the Persona series.

"Hero worship shit" simplifies the social links down to a level that is ignorant of their purpose.

The bolded doesn't even happen in Persona 4, I don't know what you're referring to. The MC makes a big difference in a lot of peoples lives, yeah, but nobody depends on him that much or ever says or even implies that he's the only reason they're alive. I guess thematically the game is more positive in the way that it depicts friendly relationships, but if your whole problem with Persona 4 versus Persona 3 is that people aren't aloof enough, I think you're being fucking silly.

edit: The more and more I think about it, the more it seems like a waste of time to force you to climb through some contrived social ladder in order to experience the S.Links - don't waste my time shortening them by forcing me to attain some level of popularity or bullshit just to get to the same content. Mechanically it's inane.

Furthermore both P4 and P3 have 'gated' social links that require you to get certain stats (courage / knowledge etc) before you can initiate them. I'm really lost, I don't know what to tell you.

This is a weirdly hostile reply, but I'll bite.

In Persona 3 and 4, there was Junpei and Yosuke who filled similar roles. Your first friend, the Magician social link, the other transfer student who went through what you went through, etc. They even had the same jealousy issues. Junpei is one of my favourite characters in P3, while Yosuke couldn't be more annoying to me.

The problem I had with Yosuke was his immediate attachment to you. He was everywhere, and it became more and more evident that he had no other friends. It was a weird burden to put on me. Him constantly calling you and being all partner-partner had me just like "slow down bro." Sure he's friendly with Chie and Yukiko, but he has no real friends. Then you do his social link and you realize he has literally nothing else besides you. He even stands alone in a corner all day unless you either take him to the TV or do his social link. (I get that mechanically this makes sense because you can always have access to your full party for the dungeons, but in terms of story, it just comes across as sad) To top it all off, at the end of his link, he apologizes for thinking you were uncool and wants you to punch him in the face. Sorry, I just found it all to be a little too much.

Meanwhile you have Junpei, a character who is sort of your first friend too, but he's not a socially inept loner. He knows other kids, he has other interests, he has his own life. When you become friends with him, he doesn't become obsessed with you. You become one of his friends, not his one friend. It felt more organic in a higschool setting. Some nights he'll go out with his friends instead of going to Tartarus. He feels more like a real person. He has his own storyline with Chidori and you can see real growth that happens without you when his persona evolves. I liked that the onus of his personal growth isn't on the protagonist. Whereas with Yosuke, if you don't spend hours and hours with him personally, he doesn't realize shit.

So yeah, that's the issue I have with Persona 4's way of handing party interactions compared to Persona 3. I could go more indepth comparing all the characters, but I think that would be too much for this thread.

But why is that a flaw? I mean...Yosuke moved from the City to a small town, and had problems fitting in. He meets someone else from the city, so it makes sense he would be drawn to you...

There is also the sub plot about his family being looked down on because they represented a big store/chain coming in to a small town and disrupting things. What you just wrote, is the very reason I liked Yosuke and his story. I can understand you not being fond of how his story plays out (I didn't love the punching thing either). But I think logically, it makes sense why Yosuke is drawn to you, and why he leans so heavily on you.

I'm re-playing P3 now, and it's kind of funny, because I find Junpei to be really obnoxious. He throws a lot of fits when he doesn't get his way. He's super immature. And there isn't really a good plot progression that outlines why he is the way he is. Whereas I find Yosuke's plot made more sense (or least had more depth).

I understand all the other complains, but this is a weird one. Why can't people like Yosuke exist? Dude was stuck in a rut and you were able to get him out of it.

He was so lost and isolated that he just wanted to look at someone who he could understand a little. Yu was just that person.

Yosuke >>>>> Junpei.
