- Wonderful cast of characters who have meaningful character development (also don't let some people fool you. Social links are experienced with everyone and combat a wide array of issues not just romantic interests)
- great stories
- solid turn based combat and one that has depth
- some of best OST's in jrpg history
- charming art style
- replay value is high (doubt you could max all SL's since there are time constraints) as is the game length.

Wrap it all together and you get one of the best if not the best (imo) jrpg series in gaming right now.

This is very true. From social pressure, having a terminal disease, having your parent/sibling/husband/wife/child die, inheritance and being born into a set future, loneliness, being adopted, popularity/stardom/public opinion, sexual orientation, struggling with one's gender, growing without a mother and a father that's always away from home, parental expectations, working without recognition, alcoholism, social order and duty, being a young child living a divorce, etc.

The Sun Social Link in Persona 3 was one of the few times I had tears in my eyes playing a video game.

I like the series but there's absolutely no way I'm buying this day one.

They swore up and down that P4 wouldn't have a FES version, yet sure enough along came Golden.

I'll be waiting for the eventual FES/Golden version that will come out a year later with extra content.
Except Golden was released 4 years after Vanilla?

Great news about the PS4 version. I'll probably get it when it comes out, though I can't deny considering waiting for some sort of expanded edition like what was done with the last two games, though Golden did come out four years after P4 which is a bit of a wait.

can anyone translate what this comic says?

Haha, you did not just say that. Please watch this video.

Persona has always, always, always, always been about high school students. The one game in the series that didn't revolve around high school students is the second half of a duology... where the plot is predicated on the actions of high school students.

The 3 pillars of Persona are high school, relationships and Persona's. Always has been, and it'll probably always will be.

Yes, always been about high school students. No, the series wasn't about high school until 3.

What happened here to cause the title change lol

Waifu Wars happened... for a game where we haven't even seen the new Waifus.

War... War never changes.

That said I'm really excited to maybe see Gameplay during TGS? Hope we get to see more soon, the persona thirst is real.

A year, four years. They're the same thing, right?

Doesn't matter. They said they weren't going to do the same thing with P4.

They lied. Platform is irrelevant.

Whatever the release date is for P5 means I have to add a year onto it.

You're free to do as you please, but those circumstances were entirely different.

Platform does matter. Atlus didn't re-release Persona 4 on PlayStation 2 in 2009, they ported it to PlayStation Vita (new audience) in 2012 - about three-and-a-half years after the release of the original.

I love it when people lecture about the history of the series when they have no idea what they're talking about.

The point is that this release will not be the final version. There will be another one coming.

Even though most of the posting is from people who are never in the community thread.

:-(

Yeah, I should do a better job of that. But this is the first mainline Persona title that I am anticipating (first entry I'll be a part of from the jump, I should say), so I'll have to spend more time there.

Wut. I'm pretty sure PK Gaming knows what's up with Persona.

And you can save your pennies and try to avoid spoilers for what you assume will only be a year, while the rest of us are having fun being players of the game at launch.

I'll pick this up on PS4 simply because I expect it'll probably look and run better than the PS3 version though I don't think Atlus will cut corners.

["waifu"/"husbando" crap = ban]

Thank YHWH. I'd like to think when the full cast we could have the wiggleroom to debate their looks respectably.

Not really feeling the MC; perhaps it'll be a Chie thing and his personality will sell me.

I wonder what the benefits of PS4 over PS3 will be.

I hope this game is crazy as SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEETT. Nonstop nonsense. Nonstop crazy.

I'm serious here. Wait four years, at least, to really make sure there won't be another version coming. If you only waited one year, then they announced a "Golden" version on year three, your one year wait would be very wasteful.

Unless you also want it cheaper, which I could appreciate.

Erm...You know that video he posted was an interview with Kozy Okada and Kazuma Kaneko, right? You know, basically the original designers of the first 3 games? If they don't have an idea what the series is about, then who does?

Katsura Hashino and Soejima follow even more in line with the thematic significance of Highschool in game and character design, so, if they're all wrong about Persona, then who does decide what Persona is?

If you have the will to wait 3 years for the potential of an updated version while the rest of the internet is fill with information, more power to you. We see their recent games (SMTIV and Persona Q) having tons of DLC, which is a better indication of the direction P5 is going to go.

They can add stuff with DLC now. No need to make another version.

Didn't stop

Dead or Alive 5
Toukiden
Valhalla Knights 3
Soul Sacrifice

and many other to have a version released with more content down the line, not being available on dlc.

Kaneko and Okada themselves stated that they wanted to explore adult relationships with Eternal Punishment. The two games were meant to explore different aspects of life; high school and adulthood.

Maybe that aspect left with them, but the series by no means has to be exclusively about high school students.

What do those games have anything to do with Atlus and DLC?

I think the comment was more on the Japanese industry seemingly preferring releasing all new 'turbo' version of games vs giving the content in DLC.

Their stories are self-contained but, unlike Final Fantasy, they are all set in the same universe.

Even if so, you really don't have to play one to get the others. You might miss a couple of small references here and there but that's it.

Golden came out four years after P4, though, right?

All Persona's are standalone, ala Final Fantasy, right?

I don't have to have played them to try this one, do I?

Yes.

The exception is the P3 and P4 casts are both found in the fighting game Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

But on the mainline entry front - the RPGs, you're right. You most likely won't have to have played P3FES/P3P or P4/P4G.

Ugh, I need this one so badly.

Relieved to hear that it's 2015 [at least for Japan], but it still seems like such a long time away. :/

Preach!

The shadow operatives have to make an appearance in this game right? I feel like they have to show up at some point if something big is going down in this city. The shadow problem would have to be on the down low for them to not hear about it. The p5 characters will have to run into them at some point. Unless arena isn't canon and there is no shadow operative team.

I hope not. Call me a purist or an asshole, but I don't want that Arena crap in P5

It's canon but will likely have no effect on the story.
