Ganondorf is really the only clone that needs to be redone.

You can argue for Toon Link and such but they really wouldn't have been in if they weren't clones.

Ganondorf on the other hand is worthy of having the dev time put into making him his own unique fighter. Odd how characters like Wario were excluded from Melee because they deserved more than to be a clone, yet Ganondorf was made into a Falcon clone.
I guess at the time he'd only had Ocarina of Time and pig Ganon was still seen as being more of the main version of the character? At least in Sakurai's eyes.
It's sad how we're seemingly stuck with Ganondorf as a clone now :\

He should use the sword or trident instead of the punch, but not base the whole moveset on it obviously. Make the range worth the huge windup.

I like the idea of generating a big dark magic weapon for his neutral B. Maybe make it unblockable to be worth the wind-up.

Yeah, it really sucks. Melee we had Ness confirmed as a starter, and Brawl we had Lucas and pretty much had Mother stuff to look forward to from the start. Smash 4 it seems like the Harry Potter that they hide under the stairs and pretend doesn't exist.

I mean Mother is getting a brand new stage on 3DS and DK, Metroid, Yoshi and Starfox aren't. So that's something.

I liked this moveset's version. Giving the punch an optional sword strike afterwards helps make it a much more useful move

I remember I instantly liking Ike when he appeared in SSE. I'd never heard of him (I only knew the name Fire Emblem because of Marth, but I knew nothing about the games themselves,) but the way he debuted in that cutscene was really cool.

If he's not a clone due to using a completely unique moveset, I'd think it was a waste of effort and resources, but I could forgive it if he were just using Pit's moves with some unique weapons, or a variation of the Brawl Pit moveset.

From the looks of it maybe we'll see none, but we still have next week. I'm leaning towards a possible Smash 3DS Direct by Wednesday next week. Or at least a brand new trailer for one more newcomer if no Direct is coming. It will be sad if DHD is true but has no newcomer trailer for him.

And it will be worldwide, if we follow the pattern on HW and Bayo 2 Directs.

The concept of Wario as a hidden character is still surreal, though I guess Mario Kart 7 beat that to the punch. I'm okay with it otherwise.

Yeah, as much as I'd like Dark Pit to maybe use weapons from Uprising that Pit doesn't use in his moveset, I'm more or less expecting him to play like Brawl Pit.

Doesn't entirely bother me in Dr. Mario's case, though. Melee Mario is my favorite incarnation of Mario.

He seems to favor the Falcon moveset. There was a interview I remember way back in the early GC days that said Captain Falcon was his favorite character, I can't seem to find it anymore, I think it was on IGN.

What bothers you specifically? I'm not sure if adding entirely new characters is a good idea, but what they're doing in regards to costumes, game modes and stages (incongrous Castlevania one aside) doesn't seem to be overstepping any boundaries for me.

It's not so much what they're putting in the mod that bothers me, it's how they handle it and how the community treats it. It's as if they think they're making an actual entry in the Smash series rather than modifying a game to be more like another game. People have been modding Brawl for ages, but those mods have all been treated as mods. Project M is starting to get into entitled territory. People put it on a pedestal and treat it as if it's one of the games in the series when it's not even a game period.

In short, what bothers me is how Project M has been handled and treated. It's not a game. It's a mod of a game. That said, I actually like a lot of what's put into it.

Well how would you feel if they added brand new characters, like

I would've been okay with that back when Project M was a humble venture, but not anymore. They've changed it way too much and it no longer feels right. I'd want to play as those characters in a game that actually still feels like it was made by Sakurai.
