Dead Rising 3 PC Steam pre-load is live

How are people surprised at the size of games? This is quite normal now, 25GB isn't even that big - there were many older games that were that size and bigger.

Yep. More and more 50GB games are coming our way.
Ryse on Xbox One is 35GB if memory serves.
It's possible the PC version verges on 45GB.

depends on your pc. the requirements are pretty high
Minimum are a bit higher than the Xbox One, okay okay almost twice as powerful. Just like last gen were the minimum requirements are comparable to the console specs.

Edit: Below me.

Your GPU is below the minimum requirements. Also it a tad slower than the GPU in the Xbox One. I wouldn't expect much from it in DR3.

OS: Windows 7 64-bit edition, Windows 8 64-bit edition
Processor: Intel Core i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz or AMD equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 670 2GB / AMD Radeon 7970 2GB

Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 11 Compatible sound card
Additional Notes: Broadband internet connection is required for Co-op play. An Xbox 360 Controller for Windows or other Xinput-compatible controller is recommended for this game.

My system is between minimum and recommended.
AMD Phenom II 1055T, MSI Cyclone 6850 PE/OC 1 GB, Corsair 8 GB 1600 Mhz.
Lets see.

I'm tempted by this but I only have a GTX580 1.5GB. I have 12GB of ram and a first gen i7 920. What do you guys reckon considering I don't mind 1080/30.

I think Dead Rising 3 looks a lot more impressive in spots than you might think. There are some great lighting effects in the game, especially on clothing and on weapons that will light up the environment. Plus as you go along you get into places where there are thousands of zombies which should be really cool with good IQ. They haven't shown any footage of the later chapters(outside of a boss snippet) though so we'll see how it turns out.

I believe the first 60 FPS reveal was done at 1080P, and 780ti but one hopes they've optimized a bit since then. Still, I have that card so I should be good :P
Unless it is cpu bound
I just worry about performance in the last two chapters being impossible to maintain at 60 FPS.

It's a 770, though bizarrely, he appears to be running it at 720p?!

That's down to the capture card not supporting a higher resolution.

This looks like a perfect showcase for Gsync in many ways. Generally 60, but regularly dropping down into the fifties and occasionally the high 40s. I'm still waiting to upgrade my HD7970 when the next series of Geforce cards drop, but I get my mobo, cpu, ram, etc in over the next couple of days. This is going to be a good show piece for my new PC, so I'm pretty hyped.

DEAD RISING 3 doesn't even exist in German Steam...ah the fun we have NICHT!

DR2 I ordered via Amazon UK but that probably doesn't work anymore.

GFWL is still alive. The leaked shutdown date was silently pushed back to an as-yet-unknown date (my current guess is December 31st [i.e. a further six months]).

Yep. This coming gen is going to be 25-30. Unless it's name is "Titanflop" in which case it's 50+.

Contemplating this. I have a question, does this game run on a "timer" like the first two? You only have 72 hours to do this? Or is it a completely free, open, balls to the wall game?

It has a timer, but a much more liberal one. There's also a harder mode with the timers like the original games.

from what I understand, the side missions are timed but the main story gives you infinite time

then there's Nightmare Mode, which restore the time limit and saving in bathrooms from previous games

Totally forgot that I bought this off of a Russian for $20 during the summer sale. Excited to try it out this weekend.

It's not infinite time, it still progresses, but muchhh slower than it did before, the time should never factor in really.

plenty of choices to get it running at a steady 1080/60

Nice to see that SMAA is supported. FXAA is good enough for my eyes but I can't stand the oh-so-slightly-noticeable loss of finer texture detail and injecting SMAA tends to wreck too much havoc on HUD elements.

I can stand FXAA as well but it's true that SMAA is just superior. Glad to see it becoming more and more common.
Temporal SMAA looks really nice.

Wow, seeing these minimum specs, it seems like I finally have to upgrade my PC, or do a complete new build.

Still running an Phenom II x4 965 + a HD5870, 8gigs RAM.

Meh, not really happy spending 400+ for new hardware.. might as well just buy a next gen console, or even better, last gen console + 10-20 games I missed out as they were console only.

I just watched Capcom's first livestream of this from a couple months back where they talked about all the graphic options and what they do and the guy is playing it at 720p with a GTX Titan and getting around 45fps.

It's probably an old, unstable build but running it maxed out at 1080/60+ with zero drops is going to take a lot.

Wonder if "Game Quality" being set to "720p" means the game only has fixed supported internal resolutions.

Not necessarily. Maybe they're too lazy to detect the monitor resolution and set it automatically.

Hoping my 750 ti can handle this game at medium, 900p. If not, I'm upgrading to a 770 soon! Pumped for this. Really bummed when it was announced as an Xbox exclusive so this has been something I've looked forward to.

There's 720p, 900p, 1080p or Full options.

Usually, anything lower than Full looks like arse though.

It's a bit like Call of Duty: Ghosts, if you played that on PC.
