Widow makes me sad.

This issue really made me sad, I wasn't at your level but now I am I think haha. :(

I don't want to drop it but I am so tempted to. I miss freewheeling Black Widow, the one who would jump out of an airplane with a smile on her face and Bucky by her side (Brubaker's Winter Soldier)....

There are strange decision like the Batmans & Green Lanterns 60 year history happened in the last 5 years, which I really dont like.

Batman and Green Lantern didn't have a 60 year history in the old universe compressed into the new one. They both started a new in 85, so they had a 26 - 27 year history. With N52 SOME of that history has happened some didn't, we're finding out as we go what did and didn't happen.

I wonder what most of you guys would have been like during CoIE.

No It was the 80s still.

But DC had some great damn books in the 90s.

I meant generally. You had a decade of 90's extreme.

COIE was 85-86, so there was almost half a decade before the 90s. Also, dc was pretty good in the early 90s and pretty clearly better than marvel for the whole decade

Oh I know. ;)

is it that time of the month where we complain about the new 52?

I think it's more a product of gimmick month. Despite the fact that the gimmick months see DCs market share rise to the heavens, for a subset, it's a time of reflection
and rage
.

The only part about the New 52 that is weird to me is the whole 90s covers gimmick they have used. Hook up my genesis and I would think I went back in time.

DC does what Marvel won't!

DC really is a shitshow at the moment with some decent books mixed in a pile of shit.

As someone who pulls like 4/5ths of their line I'd say 3/4ths of those are great so I fundamentally disagree with you and will happily argue whatever specific books you'd like to discuss as opposed to generalities.

I'm pretty disaatisied with both houses right now. Marvel ended up canceling all of the quirky books I enjoy, and DC is just strange (Though I must admit, they are dominating my pulls out of the two.)

Image has been filling those gaps nicely though :)

Next week is Velvet week AND Walking Dead for me. Soooo good.

Ugh I love Waid's Daredevil so much I'm starting to kick myself for getting the TPBs and not the HCs. Maybe once the 7th book is out I'll just sell em off and get the OHCs.

I don't read a lot of DC ongoings but they've gotten a lot better since the New 52 began.

Plus, Marvel's been cancelling quite a few books recently so I'm not all that happy with them right now. Can't believe New Warriors is getting cancelled so early... The series had so much potential for future arcs that it will never get.

I honestly can't say I can tell the difference between New 52 books and pre-New 52 books.
I mean, I don't read a ton of DC, but still.
Like, for all I know, that Geoff Johns Shazam book I read the other day could've taken place in the exact same universe as Morrison's Batman run.

Good stories are good stories regardless of the universe they're set in. Is it possible that it's easier to say that pre-New 52 is better because you can cherry pick the great stories from the however many decades that was going on for? And likewise, there's just a shorter amount of time from which to cherry pick from New 52 (thus leaving you with less great stories even if the average quality is the same)?
And that isn't necessarily meant to be rhetorical. I haven't read a ton of DC, and definitely haven't been reading DC close to as long as some of you guys here, so I really am not sure if that's the case or not.

I don't think that they accomplished what they were looking for with these books. Some of them were amazing, and it's tragic that they are getting the axe, while books like Ghost Rider and Iron Fist are pretty awful.

The current DC books I'm picking up are basically Batman & Robin, Wonder Woman, Grayson & Future's End.

I was picking up The Flash, JLD, Animal Man, Constantine, Swamp Thing and Green Arrow but the drop in quality/cancelation has made me not want to pick them up anymore.

But love whatever books you want to love!

Marvel has the same problems and my pull list is getting smaller and smaller.

This is actually very accurate and explanative of why they sometimes get a shorter shrift.

It feels like the market wants to hammer them into being the same, just making them run with their strongest hands.

There is also a big talent migration to Image at the moment which is pretty great because creator owned work is always more interesting and creative than what the big two have to offer.

late 80s/early 90s DC is a bunch of weird cool experimental stuff. like Suicide Squad.

I'm not super stoked on either Marvel nor DC much at the moment. I pull equal amounts of books from both publishers, probably. I gave a bunch of the ANMN stuff a shot, and so many of them had solid art and lackluster stories/writing. And the New 52 killed my interest in shared universe comics when i was just getting into them. I was super into jumping in an expansive continuity, but then they scrapped it all and i wasn't into the New 52 universe.

Wow my friend is utter pissed at the pricing of Death of Wooferine. He says the story is 22 pages and the rest is useless padding "bonus" material. $4.99 for 22 pages. Needless to say he's not going to buy the rest of the series.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the $4.99 price point becomes a regular thing going forward.

Yeah I wanna know what's going on

And comic prices have spoiled me so much. I was gonna pick up some manga today but each volume is like ten bucks a pop. For ten bucks I could buy an Image trade that will take much longer to read. Guess I'll just stick to ordering manga online...

For what it's worth (and in case anybody else is interested and doesn't know), rightstuf.com is pretty much the best place for manga (and anime). Baseline 25% off, then you can pick up a discount card for an additional 10% for like $12 or so making it 33% off (which is definitely worth it if you order even a moderate amount of the stuff), then company sales or smart use of coupons will get you to about 40% off. (Anime gets better sales, and a company sale will get you near 50%). And then there's always a nice year end sale which is mostly anime but usually some manga as well. Instocktrades wins out for Dark Horse manga, but other than that if you're picking manga up rightstuf is the place to go.

:-(

I have no love lost with the character but my friend loves Wolverine so for a super-fan like him to bail on the series because of the ridiculous price point.... honestly feel bad for him.

No, I think you're completely correct. I have my issues with the New 52 but in some aspects it really isn't fair to pit the old DCU, with more than two decades worth of content and continuity, against the New 52.

Good to know! I don't order a lot of manga but I'd like to keep up to date with a few series so I may check them out.

For whatever reason my shop still doesn't have copies of The Fade Out. According to them they were just "never sent any." Anybody else have issues getting their physical copies of The Fade Out?

Any word on the continuation/cancellation/safety of any of the following Marvel series?

Secret Avengers
Cyclops
Silver Surfer
Magneto
Loki: Agent of Asgard
Iron Fist Living Weapon
Black Widow
Nightcrawler

With All-New Ghost Rider, Avengers Undercover, Hawkeye, and Elektra all ending soon, I'm curious to know if any I have more Marvel series I should be aware of their upcoming endings.

New Warriors and Superior Foes both end in November

I think there were rumors of Secret Avengers getting cancelled but I don't know how true they were

No wau is Magneto or surfer getting canceled.

No. Way.

Let me start by saying that I'm definitely in no big rush to get my IST order since I'm in the middle of Doom Patrol and have other stuff to read after it anyways, but just because I was curious, I checked the USPS tracking thing to see how long until I got it...
Also, keep in mind, I live in Southern California.

I had to laugh.

Best part is that it made it within an hour of my house. Bell Gardens is usually where it ends up the day before my packages arrive.
I have a theory: My Criminal deluxe editions really wanted to take a nice vacation for the three-day weekend in Florida (because Southern California isn't nice enough, I guess).

Yo Kipp, I found your delivery vehicle:

I'm ~100 pages into the Sin City Omnibus. So good. The only other Frank Miller I've read was Ronin, which was good but not on this level.
