Apparently "stepping on jordans in the hood" is a great prank idea

If you think that's racist, the problem is that the hood is so vastly different in this regard than elsewhere, not that they went there to elicit the most fucked up responses.

I think towing the line of "technically not racist" is a rather obvious ploy for their video series.

They happen to be in an 80% black neighborhood (Flatbush, Brooklyn.)

They happen to be involving stereotypes that are in fact associated largely with blacks.

While you or I might not associate these concepts with blacks, the lowest common denominator who would find the idea of such a petty "prank" funny in the first place is far more likely to.

In the context of a conversation between 2 people who know damn well that neither "the hood" or "don't step on people's shoes as you don't know how they'll react" are only aspects of black people I wouldn't jump to assuming racism. In the context of an exploitative Youtube video I would generally assume it's probably designed to be enjoyed by a lot of racist fucks.

The people calling this video fake don't know what they're talking about. Those are genuine reactions, not WWE actors. Those fools deserved the ass kickings though, this is thinly veiled racism disguised as a prank. And not even a good one at that.

The videos are 100% fake with willing participants. On seperate occasions, they had a gun and a knife pulled on them and it always cuts away. We also don't see the faces of the people who draw weapons because, fake or not, people get fooled and then you have the NYPD investigating them as a serious crime.

A number of the pranks follow the same pattern where the prankster gets "thrown" or put in a harmless hold. Several others show blatantly pulled punches, slap punches, etc. There's also a lot of bad acting.

If you're still not convinced, then why does one of the guys in OP's video have his face blurred out? Because he didn't sign a release allowing his face to be shown. Why did one angry guy, after finishing assaulting the prankster, walk off in the wrong direction? Cuz it's fake.

These guys found a niche that gets them a ton of hits in the crowded space of Youtube prank channels. Predecessors before them tried doing this "harassing people in the hood" thing for real and found themselves eventually getting assaulted. One of the Simple Pickup guys for exampled got brutally knocked out, suffering a concussion and a nasty gash that needed stitches. A few others took some hard hits for their fuckery. And these were only doing hood pranks on rare occasions. These new dudes are doing a ton of these and knew they'd eventually get beat if any of it were real. So they did the next best thing: stage every damn prank with volunteers. Edit: see post above. Bouncer video is real and demonstrates what DennisCee and OckTV try to avoid by staging their shit.

That's what's even worse about these videos. They're not antagonizing random people and incidentally hoping to capture reactions that may potentially draw certain types (racists) to watch their videos. They're straight up creating/directing these scenarios to captivate their intended audience each and every time.

I once saw a man yell and threaten to harm a senior citizen for stepping on his Jordans accidently in a packed NYC bus. People really seem to love their Jordans...

It's just a dumb idea and an even dumber channel. I hate those guys.

"In the hood" assumes a particular group of people that behave in a particular way, so that's clearly discriminating (not necessarily 'racist' depending how you see it). What is also sad, is that they DO represent that prejudice.

Lol that's indeed a ridiculous racist post. I don't think that is tolerable. Dunno if a mod would slip that if one would read it.

I don't mind that a mod hasn't seen it; mods can't cover everything. Just that generally when you see an incredibly offensive post, people will quote it over and over to the point of thread derailment. This got quoted 0 times on the 2nd page, 3 times on the 3rd page, and if memory serves once on the 4th page (haven't checked beyond that), with comparatively mild reactions. I would say wishing an entire race of people to die should be pretty shocking.

Is there a prank where all white people just suddenly explode?

That'd be cool.

Surveillance camera man's got you covered!

Turns out white people get angry, too, even when someone 'only' sticks a camera in their face.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie0BKwRYSJo.

All these videos are so, so stupid. It's really kind of disheartening. If you told me 10 years ago that these 'prank' videos would be wildly popular, I think I'd laugh. Now the joke's on me.

EDIT: I assumed that the post I quoted meant 'exploded' metaphorically, as in 'reacting angrily.'

Assholes. If someone came up to me and stepped on my foot on purpose like these guys did there probably wouldn't be words. I would've punched him right then and there. It's not about the shoes much as it is about disrespect. I don't care much for my shoes, hell, I don't even like wasting over 70 for shoes but this shit is unacceptable.

Shoes go on your feet and are for protecting your feet from dirt and various other things that could damage or harm them.

Both parties in this video are stupid.

I dont think these people know what the word 'prank' means.

I've seen this a lot lately. People stealing cellphones, pretending to sell guns, attempting to kiss people, faking robberies, and then for some reason they're really surprised when they get the crap beaten out of them by people who don't think that "it's a prank" is a valid excuse.

I wonder how much someone is getting paid or what they actually sign in order for videos like these fake prank videos to go up.

There HAS to be at least a person or 2 who knows that these fools are doing shit to make certain communities look bad. Which makes me wonder why the people being pranked are so complicit with this shit.

The guys are annoying but HOLY CRAP at the reactions.

Very likely fake as others have said but wouldn't surprise me if some people really do act like that.

Either way it's dumb.

I've lived in NYC for over a decade and can confirm scuffing a Jordan to some people will get you into trouble. Yeah it's stupid for sure. Video is also stupid and just after hits

Lemme get this straight. So someone purposefully steps on my 200+ dollars pair of brand new sneakers just to see what i would do and you guys expect me to just walk away? Righttt....

Let a motherfucker come in here and smash my ps4.

I think you guys are being unfair. Something of little or no value to you may have a ton of value to others. Its that simple. Show a little empathy.

Hell, pokemon blue is one of my fav games and if someone broke my game on purpose we would def be fighting and it only cost 30 bucks.

Show a little empathy? You're the one who's happy to beat someone for stepping on your shoes.

Shoes are shoes. They're going to get dirty. If someone steps on them and says sorry, the only normal thing to do is accept it or at least walk away angrily.

You have to be a douchebag to end up in a fight over something so dumb.

So guy steps on my very expensive shoes on purpose to get a rise outta me and im the douchebag?

Truly there is a defense force for everything.

Again. What may seem trivial to you may not be so for others. Thats what i mean by empathy.

If this was an accident it would be a completely diifferent story.

Edit: reading your post again i see your disconnect. Im not talking about an accident here. Im talking about someone WILLFULLY marring your new expensive shoes to see what you would do which is what the video shoes.

Did they ''break'' the sneakers?

Anyway, glad it's fake, cause man those ''victims'' are hot-tempered.

There is a big fucking difference between intentionally scuffing a shoe like they did and somebody accidentally doing it. Which is what people are referring to. If somebody accidentally gets your shoe and you're ready to fight them then you have problems.

People need get this shit in check. Tired of reading in Baltimore somebody shot another person because they got supposedly got dissed.

I actually have collected J's for atleast 12 years and value them greatly. But I'm not throwing punches over them or battling it out at a mall. It's trashy and disgusting.

Its just something you dont understand because you dont put value into shoes i guess. Take anything you own of great value to you and now imagine somone marring it on purpose (knowing how much it means to you). What would you do?

There really is a distinct lack of empathy all around, man. Someone called me out on that tbe other day abd it really opened my eyes.

It seems to me that people aren't watching for the "prank", they are watching to see idiots get the shit kicked out of them.

And if you read my posts correctly youd see that i differentiated between the two many many many times :)

We are on the same page here.

Another thing im learning from my time of gaf is the value of reading comprehension.

Laugh probably.

Seriously, it's just a little dirt on your shoe at most?

I want to first apologize on behalf of all white people.

second, jordans suck. I wouldn't even waste my soles on them comeatmebros.jpg

props on getting your ass mashed for views I guess?

?

Everyone with a little bit of taste and/or over the age of 14 knows that (most) Jordans are hideous shoes.

Really wish this dumbass logic would stop getting repeated. Other than use, shoes are no different from any other piece of personal property. Adults usually have to work for what they own and try to take care of what they work so hard to buy. Not only that but it would piss alot of people off for someone else to blatantly disrespect their property.

Just because you see shoes as whatever and are fine with a $20 pair of sauconys from Walmart doesnt mean everybody should feel as carefree as you do about things that they spend money on. Who are you to decide what other people should value?

It's not a distinct lack of empathy, it's videos specifically tailored to lowest common denominator who want to:

1) see violence and have it justified.

2) justify some warped viewpoint on racism that he/she holds.

These "prank" videos are causing both to go on, and I HATE that a smug fuck like Remo Galliard does this shit for a living and now we have copycats who don't even know what a prank means.

When i say empathy im referring to the "i dont value this item as much you do so you shouldnt either" posts.

Accidently? I wouldnt laugh but id be like damn. But why should i be calm about somebody ruining my shit on purpose?

I'm sorry but I just can't see the ''ruining'' in the vid.
They just step on the shoes for a bit, what is the worst that can happen then? Shoes getting dirty?

Ruining those shoes would be something like taking scissors with you and clipping the front off.

This. If someone rips your shoes apart or throws shit on them, then I can understand a reaction.

Picture it like this. Youre a kid and your mother says dont touch my expensive piece of "x". She is adamant about it and you know how much it means to her. However, you decide to be presumptuous and touch it anyway while looking her straight in the eye. She punishes you and then you wanna turn around and ask her why?

And if you step on someones shoes well enough you can leave a pretry good scuff marks.

I like clarks. I get a new pair. Someone intentionally comes up to me and spits on em and i didnt spray em. Is it my fault for failing to do so? Should i be mad at myself?

Again, youre describing an accident which is totally different and NOT what im referring to.

These guys are making a prank by being racist assholes.

Also some of the reactions to these assholes are excessive, and also make assholes of those reacting that way even though they are disrespected. I mean you have a right to be angry and I can sympathize with even pushing them once but even in reaction to an asshole you can lose sympathy if you go too far.

But then again it's probably fake which doesn't change the first statement that these are racist videos.

In that example I would deserve a punishment, but hitting somebody in the face for something like that in my opinion is way overdone.
Stepping on a shoe like that can leave marks, sure, but nothing that can't be fixed in a moment, right? Nothing permanent?

No definitely not, you should be mad at the spitter, but for me that still wouldn't warrant smacking him in the face.
But it could be just me ofcourse, I tend to be non-violent nowadays, somebody would have to hit me first probably before I start punching myself.

Again, youre describing an accident which is totally different and NOT what im referring to.

You're not wrong. It's disrespectful and you'll definitely want to hurt the person who breaks your shit, but look at the bigger picture here: you're going to assault someone for your sneakers, things worn on your feet that are bound to get scuffed, rip, tear, and break a lace eyelid after wear and tear. You're going to risk a police call and getting possibly arrested for sneakers?

These videos are fake.

Because if the really did this they would get fucked up alot harder and faster.

And people would get angrier at the idea that they were being filmed for a prank video.
