Aw shucks you guys! I just get upset when I see other people verbally attacked for something harmless.

It's sad, unnecessary, and most of all really childish.

I value everyone in here, and more than anything I love seeing the recommendations put out. Your praises are what have gotten me to pick up and try so many more titles than I would have otherwise.

And hey, GrandHarrier, don't try and act like you're not just being a straight-up DC fanboy. You know this is just a disguised complaint about Marvel. If Pulido was drawing Batman, you know you'd be loving it.

How much for that print? Any price, just name it.

I wish Nocenti would have done a draft of Cheskas smackdown. I find her posts incomprehensible and offensive to my high class tastes.

We're definitely gonna try and get there at 10 to hit up Skottie Young and Ryan Browne, but may leave for a bit and come back in the afternoon because my wife really wants to see Young's panel at 3.

That's what I'll tell my wife were doing. Go eat lunch somewhere. Come back. Man, hope our budget holds up. Lol.

I am so fucking tired of the elitist attitude and hostility in this thread. Stop taking shit so seriously! There's a reason there's not just one single comic, written by one single person, drawn by one single artist. Because everyone has different tastes, and I genuinely cannot understand why so many of you have a hard time getting that.

"Oh so and so doesn't like this art. Your opinion sucks! You have horrible taste!"

WTF.

Says who!?

I fucking love She-Hulk, Jen is awesome and while Pulido is not my favorite artist, I've grown to appreciate and enjoy his work.

Stop with this judgemental attitude, and especially with the personal attacks and insults. You are literally gaining nothing from it, it's not like you're making money off of defending someone's work.

And honestly, I would take someone like Fiona Staple's work over Frank Quitely, Javier Pulido or whoever else we decide needs to be hung for hating. And why yes, I'll enjoy my statues, with their perfect faces and all.

Remember, comics are for everybody.

This reminds me of something that Brubaker said and I agree completely.

Till very recently, I didn't know you had to pay to get your stuff signed at conventions. I had assumed people just turn up to promote whatever they are working on.

Damn. That's pretty cool.

Only douchebags charge for autographs at conventions. No matter how legendary they are.

Edit - there is some people I'll exempt from this but if you are current and doing work, you shouldn't charge. To counter what you said, most people DONT charge at conventions.

It's up to the artist, but a lot of them don't charge. They do usually sell prints and small sketchbooks though. I bought one from Aaron Lopretsi a few years ago and it's signed and numbered.

Do Gail Simone or Amanda Conner charge? Please tell me no. Don't break my heart.

Also Snyder?

My experience of those has been with Gail and Snyder: Gail doesn't charge or anything but Snyder is often so slammed that you have to get a ticket for signings just so they can manage the lines and how many he does each day.

Since we're on a new page and people are quoting my post, I want to make people aware that I wasn't just harassing GrandHarrier, there was a drawing in the post.
The image is quoted in my post, so I look like kind of an asshole when the post is quoted and just the text shows up. Haha
Mostly I'm just saying this so that Cheska doesn't see my post quoted and hate me for life.

ComicsAlliance's article on Wes Craig's Blackhand Comics has me completely sold. I love when an artist has mastered shadowing.

Ooh. That art looks great. I might pick that up depending on how much it sells for.

Awesome. Someday I'll get to meet them.

I see Snyder/Capullo were at a con here last year. Becky Cloonan is at it this year.

Here's the posters. Should I go?

Yeah, man! There's a bunch of great names on that list.

Plus Harley's on the second poster... you wouldn't want to disappoint her, would you?

Ooh. This talk about cons reminded me that Long Beach Comic Con is this month!
ALSO, HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT MIKE MIGNOLA WAS GOING TO BE AT LBCC?
In addition to lots of other great people like Chris Burnham and Mike Allred.

I really ought to go to that.

I just realised that the only person who helped Earl in that giant brawl outside the bar was the dog.

I think Aaron's trying to tell us something.

You should go if nothing else to ask Jordie Bellaire what kind of pact with the devil she made to be able to warp space and time to allow her to color 90% of comics currently on the market. Ask her if she does her work near a singularity?

LBCC is gonna be a swell as fuck time. I was planning on getting a few commissons but i don't think i'm doing that after all. Budget reasons, but i'll still by several books and prints. Mike and Laura Allred are gonna be there! Chris Burnham! Babs Tarr!

yeah that's a really great group of talent

You need to get rid this "then you just have shit taste" mentality for addressing people that disagreeing you, its fucking insulting. Always come up fast in these debate.

Yes there's some cool splash in Pulido's She-Hulk but there must've something happen if people can post some odd looking page in their opinion at every month, you want the whole world turn blind for that or what?

Except I never said that, and that's not the point of my arguments. I just want people to back up what they say with something a bit more than "It's art, dude, and I like it or I don't." I enjoy a solid argument when people are passionate about shit, and I figured since we essentially know everybody who keeps getting into these cyclical arguments, I can have a little fun and be a bit more punchy. Tyrant's response to my argument/question was exactly what I was looking for. He gave a great perspective into the art, specifically the coloring, and it made me look at the book with that in mind.

Also, yeah, your second paragraph completely contradicts the point of your first.

I'm going to assume you're pretty directly speaking to me, and the point of my arguing isn't elitism. I really enjoy She-Hulk and just enjoy a great argument regarding art. It's the same with Quitely. Like, why can't I question what somebody says in this thread regarding what they feel is great or what they feel is shit? It's not to be an elitist, it's just to get beyond surface level comments and shit. I'm not saying anybody's opinion in art is shit but there ain't nothing wrong with a little passionate debate, especially among a community that is somewhat familiar with each other.

Yo, I completely agree. Especially because you've already given them money by supporting their work. It's just a shitty feeling having to pay to basically say "I like your work, man!"

Is it just me or does Chris Claremonts run on Uncanny Xmen takes a serious nosedive in quality from issues 239 - 269, before Jim Lee comes in and saves it with the start of X-tinction Agenda? It was almost a struggle reading through those 30 issues. So many nonsensical plot points and storylines...It really seemed like Claremont got extremely bored during that time.

The only downside is that now I have to convince myself that making the couple hour drive north into LA is a good idea.
I haven't gone to LA under my own free will since the time I went to a concert at the Troubadour probably four or five years ago and my friend and I decided it'd be a good idea to eat at Little Caesar's and I got food poisoning and had a bad time and that miserable three hours stuck in traffic was all for nothing.
I don't like LA.

Let go of your hatred and potato-faced, lazy-eyed bigotry, denizens of Comic GAF. Let go and embrace the light of Crab Jesus, and together we shall all rejoice in the soothing, non-judgemental rays of Moon Heaven.

LA is totally not awesome, but you don't have to go all the way up into there. after LBCC, your options are Comikaze, which'll probably also not be awesome (and it's in LA) and Wondercon next year, and then San Diego.

Damn, SoCal is pretty spoiled with conventions. I love it!

I might be able to convince myself to make the drive. I'm hoping I can. Haha
If not, I'll definitely try to make it to one of those sometime!

I'm definitely making a point of going to see Scott Lobdell at Rose City this month. He is to me as Nocenti is to Messi. I'm going to find a particular issue of say, Teen Titans, and have him sign it and say, "This issue, this issue is where joy died."

Nobody fucking cares Mr. Crab.
