it spoiled basic combat, but a lot of the latter special moves and special conditions were kept under wraps

No Kahkoo Regahs, no secret characters, no secret morphs (Big, the Unify series), minimal use of special attacks (Stinger, Rising, Cyclone), some enemies were kept hidden.

The trailer didn't show off anything that you wouldn't find in your first playthrough, which is actually hilarious since it shows off

Oh, there's a lot it doesn't show, but it's extremely comprehensive. It shows every level, every character, every boss except the last one (and it fleetingly shows that too), which is fine so long as you're forgetful, because it was a damn good trailer. Just way too much in terms of reveals, imo.

But all said and done, Kamiya's hard sell approach didn't do a lot for the game anyway, sadly.
